Problem is that you'd then have either Robertson or Tierney playing on the wrong side of the pitch. At least in the current line-up you can fit both into the team without them looking too uncomfortable. I think two strikers is the way forward and I see what you are saying about Griffiths but he has recently found the net for his club unlike other strike options for us. ceudmilefailte
Way things are at the moment would be doing well to name a squad at the moment let alone a team. Don't mean that in a bad way, there seems to be more competition for places than usual, or is that just me?
JECK
I really want to see griffiths and Naismith play up top together. Its not as if we're going away to top side where we'd prodominantly be sitting back not seeing much possession. We're likely to have more possession. I reckon they would cause them damage. Perfect foils for each other, on paper anyway.

I think the key question is whether we are playing 4-5-1-1, 4-4-2, 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-

er yir macaroon
Although Snodgrass would be good in a free role linking midfield and striker, with the wing backs freeing him from the hard running. 🤔

Do not think squad will vary much from the last one (think Phillips is still out a few more weeks?) and probably find will be same team that played v Albania (though Snodgrass seems to have hit some form in last few weeks, so chance he might be picked this time (rather than wait for call off's) and he might even start). PASTA Mick
This would be my XI (although the 2 centre-backs might be a bit risky), but it is nothing like what McLeish will pick - Gordon Tierney Souttar McKenna Robertson McGinn Armstrong McGregor Forrest Griffiths Fraser I think it will be more like this - McGregor Souttar Mulgrew Tierney O'Donnell McGinn McDonald McGregor Robertson Griffiths Naismith

Gala Tartan Army (Borders)
Neither Cairney or McDonald look the part so far . If big Eck didn't have a flat in Fulham I doubt if either would be considered after their recent abject Scotland performances .
McDange
Look forward to seeing the squad. Given the 2 games I'd expect a solid team for the Israel match then lots of drop offs for the friendly which would give opportunity to try new players etc.

bazmidd
More questions have to be asked of Tom Cairneys exclusion tbh. Eck has tried to claim there is nothing sinister about it and Fulham have just said he is unavailable, although he played 20 mins at the weekend for them so he is obviously fit. He may not be quite up to speed yet and still recovering maybe from the injury but these games are two weeks away! He must be fit enough by then surely
