Think i have similar experiences.  And i know exactly what you're on about here.

Aye, one thing working abroad taught me is that just because someone is from the same place as you doesn't mean you're going to get on with them.

When I was born (in 1961) the population of Scotland was 5 million.

The projected population of Scotland in 2031will still be 5 million.

Seems that Scotland is a place that folk traditionally emigrate from.

I'm fancying a year or two in NYC while we're still young and able to take full advantage of the fast-paced NYC lifestyle, then see where it takes us.

So far, Manhattan is the only place to catch my eye for moving to.

Got pretty much everything here in Toronto, though.

The reason the population has stayed the same in Scotland is simple Scotty. Every time a kid is born a man fxxxs off out the country!

It used to be called the "Brain Drain" but judging by the state of some of the ex-pat posters on here, it might be time to come up with a new name for it? ;)

Toronto is an amazing city, Scotty. I’ve only visited a couple of times but it’s definitely somewhere I’ll return to
