Turning off Broadband shield/homesafe/etc. is often required. Whenever something isn't working my first steps are:

- Re-boot router
- Clear cache
- Ensure homesafe is turned off

Homesafe is switched off. I am getting excellent speedtest results.

Do you clear cache in Router or Smart STB?

The problems I have watching the live football is either:

1. No channels as they have been blocked

2. Channels sticking

3. Loops

Virgin

I also have Virgin as media provider.
My suspicion is they are also blocking / throttling IPTV.
Last night I could watch a few random channels on GENIPTV - but not any of the Sky / BT sport ones...

Any suggestions / thoughts / ideas ?
Maybe a VPN ?  Or different IPTV provider with built in VPN ?

I was told by the DarkMatter Admin who I liaised with while setting-up that I didn't need a VPN.

^ PlusNet with GenIIPTV ?
FWIW : I am now fairly sure that Virgin Media are actively blocking IPTV streams.
Just opened same iptv file at work (basically a proxy server via USA) and all channels play perfectly on VNC viewer.
Tempted to change broadband provider as contract is up for renewal.

I'd try a VPN before changing broadband provider. Free 3 day trial from one of the big players here - https://free.nordvpn.com/

Sorry, chief. Not with GenIIPTV. With DarkMatter.

Cheers for link.
Installed this free trial and IPTV started working perfectly....
So : Now certain that Virgin Media are blocking access. <f--kers>

Seems I have 3 options

1) subscribe to nordvpn ($4 a month)
2) new internet provider (but virgin fastest in our area)
3) home vpn router and use Virgin router in modem mode.  think I can buy a box for £20 a configure ?

kind of tempted by last option ?
anyone got comments / thought ?

Buy the VPN. It is handy as fuck for a lot of other reasons (that i cant remember right now). Spend a few bucks extra on a good one (just like the IPTV provider). Worth every penny and you will be up and running in minutes versus options 2 & 3.

For example with my VPN I can surf the net without all this EU data protection bullshit every damn site by simply opening a USA VPN site to browse through. Ahhh bliss...

It comes in handy in so many ways. Go swiss and use zattoo.com for example.

A good VPN is essential and combined with this IPTV malarkey it is the cherry on the feckin cake (so far).

No need to pay for anything nor a tv licence... and the quality...astonishing, proper HD it looks like, WTF?.

I opened up one of the 300 plus porno channels I now have by the way... and yeah it is pretty full on hardcore. And that was the one and only channel I opened, honest!

Looked up a random sci fi movie I was curious about - release date 2018 - yeah came up on the search straight away and watched in hd last night without a single break in the stream. (it was still pure pish, "a quiet place" = zero stars)

It surely cannot last but god bless them and the OP in the meantime.

Thplinth - was VPN and Iptv are you using?

I certainly don't have 300 porn channels on Darkmatter Gold. I have about 25, and bloody Fake Taxi doesn't work!!

Sorry I exaggerated it is only 298 porno channels I see looking again today.

I'll send you a PM as I don't want to post too many details.

No need for a VPN, go into your Router settings on My Virgin account and turn off Homesafe.

i was using IPvanish VPN until I found out about Homesafe setting. Ps, make sure you cancel your subscription to the VPN as they continue taking money from your account after the trial period

  • 3 weeks later...

Just catching up on this thread, been some time.

Glad alot of you have found it useful and either got on board or found ways to improve (Y)

I've even a few customers on here now haha.

Seen alot of you mentioning VPN. It's nonsense if your being asked to use one. I've been around this for 2 years and "providing" for 8 or 9 months, mines or any other reputable one for that matter dont need VPN's to run well. If you have issues, they are likely providers end. In recent weeks, there's been a massive collapse on one of the PPV events which only a few providers escaped and could still show. There's even been some hacks too. What you'll find with the ones operating well is their ability to adapt. The cost involved is increasing too however. We've now moved VOD to a new server rented at 15k per month. It ain't cheap!

Wonder if you are using the same supplier as me, a few glitches over the 2 years I have been using them but they invest and always adapt. Agree, a vpn is not necessary as the supplier should be covered. I see some machines are being blocked now though.

Can't get away with how good it is and how for all their money, Sky, BT et al can't keep the streams off.

Had it for a good while now, absolutely love it. Anyone else have it?

I defn need NordVPN to get GenIPTV to work reliably with Virgin media.
At end of day VPN only costs 2.99 a month - so not a big deal.

It's not a big deal if that's all you are paying for it, but it probably means there's not one on your suppliers end. One on their end should be suffice to skip Virgin Media. That coupled with the correct net settings if you have problems. I must have 50ish people on virgin and not one with connection problems to it. What about if you use the mobile version and switch to 4G does it play fine?

Yea sounds like we could be. For me anyway my guy can get pretty pissed if he finds customers of mine have a VPN because it can look like the customers line is being used here, there and everywhere. Lines showing like that are pulled immediately. Hence why I tell everyone not to use VPN and to trust whats already there.
