Callum McGregor should be in there. Would be nice to have a right back at a decent level so would be good to see Bardsley back till a young right back comes through. Can’t see Bardsley getting a recall and Snodgrass seems unlikely. Will be interesting to see what McLeish does with Tierney and Robertson. Surely if anyone is at left back it will be Robertson and Tierney will be deployed elsewhere? Not saying that’s what I would do but I reckon that’s what McLeish will decide. bazmidd
First time I've watched Souttar in the flesh today at East End Park and as you would hope from someone being touted for Scotland he absolutely strolled it apart from one yellow card where one of his team mates put him in trouble. I was impressed especially being against the mighty Pars, swap especially for albeit lol. He does look good though and would be happy to see him tried against Belgium to see how he does. He looked better than Hendry did v Particles anyway especially at bringing the ball forward. So my team against Belgium would be... Gordon Souttar. Mulgrew. Tierney Fraser. Robertson McCarthur Armstrong. McGregor. McGinn Griffiths Edited August 18, 2018 by bazmidd
jamboman
Cant believe McTominey is not getting a mention here. He is 6' 4 and very calm on the ball. I hope they go 4-2-3-1 with mcgregor Paterson Souttar Mulgrew (now berra is out) Tierney McTominey Macgregor Fraser Armstrong Robertson Griffiths But i can see 3-5-1-1 Mcgregor Souttar Mulgrew Tierney fraser McGinn McTominey Macgregor Robertson Armstrong Phillips

I agree he could definitely do a job for us if we are short of options but I would prefer to have a team full of players who are starting regularly for their clubs. bazmidd
Tbf it is between McArthur and McTominay for the holding role for me but McArthur seems to have started the season not bad for Palace. Hopefully McTominay starts tomorrow
borojock
I'd go for McGregor Hanley Mulgrew Tierney Fraser McGinn McArthur Cairney Robertson Phillips Griffiths
SWMM82
McGregor Jack Souttar Mulgrew Tierney Forrest McGinn McArthur Robertson Armstrong/McGregor Griffiths i know am gonna get pelted for putting Jack in at RB, but he was a standout there for the U21s, impressed against the Dutch for the full squad, plus he has started the season well with Rangers. And let’s face it, are options there are extremely limited. Maybe play Tierney at CB alongside Mulgrew, Robertson at LB and bring McGregor to the left. Still believe Forrest is the best winger we’ve got and works back the way also.

I suspect Hanley will get nod before Souttar, but could also see Tierney being moved into the middle so Robertson can play in defense also. I would be really shocked if Bardsley came in completely from out the cold so sudden. Callum Paterson you would suspect would be favorite for that position at the moment, with SOD a possibility as back up. Midfield is a nice conundrum to have, as you could probably pick 2 separate line up's and still have some quality unable to get into the team, so this could be anything. Up front I would start Griffiths, but I suspect Matt Phillips early form might see him sneak into Ecks starting line up.

He struggles as a winger and he can’t defend to save his life, that’s not the case when he plays for Celtic but he’s not the same player when with Scotland
BucksburnDandy
I'd play 4-2-3-1 for the Albania game: Gordon; Tierney, Souttar, Mulgrew, Robertson; Armstrong, McGinn; Forrest, McGregor, Fraser; Griffiths. Unlikely that team will be put out but I think that is the best team to go out and attack the game with pace and energy.
ceudmilefailte
Not sure he would give a first cap to Souttar in such an important game leaving the other centre half position to Hanley or Tierney, personally I would play the latter at right back so Mulgrew and Hanley with Robertson and Tierney as full backs and McGregor in goals would be my defence, Fraser, McTominay McGinn McGregor and Phillips in Midfield with Griffiths up front, depending on game time and form Russell is an option

He’s had a couple of decent games from memory but that’s about it. I’m hoping that a new manager and maybe a change of playing style will make a difference and maybe he’ll become a better player for us. I used to think the same thing about Shaun Maloney but he turned into a decent player for Scotland. Forrest is only 26/27 I think so there’s still time for him yet. Statistically could be a lot better when it comes to goals and assists obviously, but I think the team functions better with him in the starting XI. The defensive side of his game has improved considerably the last couple i seasons. Edited August 21, 2018 by SWMM82

andyD
Griffiths - McBurnie/Rhodes Robertson - McTominay - McGregor - Armstrong/Cairney - Fraser Tierney - Mulgrew - Hendry Gordon Seems the best use of what we have right now.
