Alan Rough played for Scotland with a fractured toe; Pat Nevin played with a fractured ankle. Dalglish played one hundred games for Scotland and never pulled out of a squad. Nobody does that any more - whether born in Scotland or not. Players nowadays are soft.

Dalglish withdrew from the 1986 World Cup squad.

Was speaking to Matt Phillips' Grandad in Central Station on Monday before the Albania game, apparently he was getting an injection on his ankle during the week.

Whether that was enough to keep him out the Scotland games is up to you, suppose it comes down to his priorities.

Well there you have it then - a legitimate injury. Damn - there is going to be some mightily disappointed people here.

The way some folk are going on you'd think it was unheard of for injuries to get better over the course of a week.

Well it is heard of but it depends on the ulterior motive of people. For example - don't rate them, slate them and rock the boat as much as they can in the hope they ratchet up bad feeling and it somehow snowballs into them getting axed from the team. Mission accomplished for them.

A few people on here have it in for Phillips, that's for sure.

I see Ryan Fraser has started for Bournemouth today - it'll be interesting to see if there are any snarky comments about him.

Definitely won't be. And has just scored.

Mental that we played him right-wing back. He's got to play left wing for

But he has played that position for Bournemouth. But you're right. We need him creating either on the right or left. O'Donnell's performance this week's given us hope that we don't need Fraser back there.

Jeez we are already struggling for strikers and you want McBurnie and Phillips chucked out (that is the way it seems) because they withdraw from a squad with injury. You do realise that probably almost all of our squad has done it at one stage or another. Axe them as well?

Naisy now stick on for us with griffiths on the bench

Yeah McBurnie and Phillips care so little they flew to South America for a pointless end of season tour and Philips cares so little that he regularly turns so to the squads

Phillips pulled out of a competitive game and 4 nights later scores and gets man of the match for his club
