sbcmfc
That 3rd goal for Rangers puts them in a strong position! Probably a decent result for Hibs too, just need a goal over there...

Soft penalty and a fluke of a 3rd but a cracking result overall. The Maribor goal was a peach if he meant it. Hibs have to be confident too as their keeper never had a save to make. Stu101
Seemingly 17 games now in Europe for Scottish teams this season. No losses in 90. Still need one more win i think in hold our co-efficient ranking though, according to a few pages back. Keep it up.

They are a dangerous side though. Just hope their heads are down for the return leg.

There defence at times looked shakey and we intercepted them a couple of times (and if we knew the offside rule then we could have been in an even stronger position). There keeper looked a bit shakey when put under pressure as well. We just have to make sure we take any chance that comes our way as we will likely spend the majority of the game on the back foot. It's going to be a long 90 minutes.
giblet
Molde were a stuffy side. Our keeper didn’t have a save to make and Mallan hit the bar and forced the keeper into a couple of good saves. kamberi is carrying an injury just now and looks off the pace, also Boyle is much more effective on the wing rather than the 2nd centre forward. thought Porteous was outstanding at the back, he is going to be some player for Hibs and hopefully Scotland in the future. still in with a good chance, there’s goals in the team. weekevie04
Decent results for the Scottish sides. 0-0 is excellent, and stating the obvious etc, but just a Hibs goal means two for Molde! 3-1 is fairly comfortable-ish for Rangers. Although if Maribor score early on, imagine it might well be over. I think Celtic can score in Athens, but fear AEK might end up winning. Clyde1998
Legia Warsaw also lost 2-1 at home to F91 Dudelange of Luxembourg. Of the ties relevant to Scottish clubs: Dinamo Minsk (BLR) 4-0 Zenit Saint Petersburg (RUS) - winners play Hibernian or Molde Ufa (RUS) 2-1 Progrès Niederkorn (LUX) - winners play Rangers or Maribor Spartaks Jūrmala (LVA) 0-1 Sūduva Marijampolė (LTU) - winners play loser of Celtic and AEK Athens

Rangers opponents don't look as good as either of the last 2 so far.

The fact the are in the qualifiers is a joke. They should have at least 7 teams automatically qualifying for the knockout stages of the champions league....😉

Even if Celtic lose again AEK, we drop into a winnable Europa League fixture which should see us in the group stages. Hopefully we will get past AEK. Both Hibs and Rangers have a great chance of progressing to the next round too. This is the minimum we need to be doing each year.

PASTA Mick
Next season (19/20) our 3 Europa League teams all start at the same stage as our league was ranked 26th. It means the cup winners start a round earlier than Aberdeen did this season. We are currently ranked 23rd due to this season's performances which mean we would be back to the same position for the 20/21 season as we are this season (cup winner starting a round later). We need to get to 17th in the table to see more improvements. That would mean 1 less round for 3 of our 4 teams. Currently Sweden, Poland, Belarus, Serbia, Cyprus and Switzerland are between us and 17th place. Getting that high this season is unrealistic. I think we'd need all 3 teams to reach the knock-out stages to get near it but I've not actually worked that out. 15th in the rankings would get us a 5th team in Europe. 15/16 was a poor year for the league so we are stuck with that until 20/21. sbcmfc
With all due respect, nobody has really overachieved so far, Hibs going through would probably be a slight upset and a good result, but we need to be beating these sort of teams regularly and backing it up. Aberdeen were really up against it and were unlucky not to get through, but unfortunately it really means nothing now as they didn’t get through.
