N4Footsoldier
If I may begin the rumour merry-go-round we had going on at the start of the year. I saw some rumour spread on Facebook last night (probably bullshit) that our last friendly to be announced for this year was Portugal at home. Presumably, looking at the dates this would be around 16/11 to make the last Nations League game at home to Israel a double header. Again don't shoot the messenger, but if there are any otherwise informed people inside the foreign press then please feel free to have your say. Clyde1998
It would make sense that we'd be playing another friendly game at home this year. Portugal is a possible opponent and one that will allow the SFA to make money on tickets. Wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be true. Would be roughly 16th October, as that's when we have a free date.

Doubt it was a typo, as OP makes reference to a possible double header with the Israel home game on 20th November. As you say, the 16th October at home to Portugal would be possible. theweestevie
Have heard this as well. Apparently the SFA are looking for 2 home friendlies so they can make a 4 match season ticket package.

wanderer
For the free date that month there is only two real options (unless the SFA go down the road of asking a non-UEFA team) being Croatia and Portugal. Portugal would be the logical option, as they can add that one on to the season ticket for the Nations League as part of a 4 game package, and thus sell tickets for the qualifiers, and get tickets sold for two friendlies added on to the top of that (imagine a game with the European Champions with Ronaldo would be a dream PR excuse for the SFA/SSC)
N4Footsoldier
If they're saying they were listening to the views collected from the supporters at the end of the last campaign surely the season tickets would be one of the first things to get ousted? Having said that, they are probably raging we got drawn into the 3 team group so they'll have to plug the gap caused by the lack of a 3rd competitive home game somehow. Why should they chuck the season tickets? If you know you can make all the games then it makes it easier to book as one bundle. Not keen on them including friendlies as I can't guarantee I can make them but they could make 2 different packages including and excluding the friendlies. PASTA Mick
I hope it's Portugal. They are probably the biggest European side that I've not seen us play against.

While true, end of the day that's not how the SFA will market it (as said, they will go over board with the whole "Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo and the European Champions are in town" stuff)

Rude Gullit
I didn't realise this but it'sactually mandatory for 3 group teams to utilise both 'free' dates. So there will be another game announced
