Maybe a primary school team would be worth a try ladies.

I have a daughter who is fortunate enough to have the opportunity to investigate what she wants to do with her life based on her ability and attack it with gusto; I'll support that every step of the way on the sole proviso there is always a Plan B regardless of what Plan A is.

If you have a daughter, or one in future, hopefully your mindset changes because she too will have the same opportunities but will be having to achieve them despite of you.

Longest LPGA drive is 285 yards whereas PGA is 476 yards. However like you say technically they're phenomenal.

Ladies golf benefits from being more mature in its own skin than football is with a weird constant need to compare itself to blokes.

I honestly think womens football could take impetus from womens golf in acknowledging its the same sport played differently

You can add tennis to this. Women's tennis is nothing like men's in terms but it's bloody entertaining at times.

I was looking at the play off format there and it's a bit bewildering.

It does seem highly unlikely Scotland will be in one of the top three ranked runners up which will make it considerably more difficult.

It's like a Mensa puzzle. The worst 6 of the 9 runners up play a one off game vs one of the other 6.  The three winners are then drawn against the three seeded teams.

The three winners of those are then put into a league table counting all games minus against 6th place and first playoff round if applicable.

Top two qualify with the bottom team getting to do it all again then in a ten team world play off as a warm up for the main event with two groups of 3 plus a friendly vs nz or aus squeezed in and a group of 4 with a pointless 3rd place playoff so everyone gets two games.

If seeded in group 1 or 2 would seem harsh playing a side with chances of going deep as preparation for your more important final a few days later🤔

I think you take the bottom team results off in the 6 team groups, so we do have a chance. Need to get the GD up against Faroes.

Our gubbing off Spain means we'll have to beat the Faroes about 20 nil and still need other teams to drop points. As I said highly unlikely.

IMO nonsense like this doesn't help the women's game

https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/beth-mead-says-shes-getting-120000721.html

She didn't break his record, she set the record for the womens England team. Its a great record and well done to her on a great achievement but if we are going to lump yhe female and male sporting record in together we might as well wipe the women's 100m record off the charts now.......that wouldn't happen because it would be fucking stupid.

Let the women grow their game and stop comparing it to the men's game

Che Adams is going need pull his finger out if he wants to beat Fleeting's record of 116 goals!

Hopefully the game matures a bit into itself because it has had false dawns before - stuff like that does nobody any favours and just looks stupid.

These characters are off their heads. Totally embarrassing comparison.

If we were to beat a seeded side in the playoffs and the other seeded sides won would that mean we would would automatically have to play the intercontinental playoffs?

I think that's what would happen 🤔

Go into some weird league table that'll need a couple of excel formula to compute by look of this off Wiki:

  • Play-offs: The nine teams play two knockout rounds of single-leg matches, with the best three runners-up entering in the second round. Matches will be held on dates in the FIFA Women's International Match Calendar in October 2022. Among the three second round play-off winners, the two teams with the best combined records in the group stage (8 matches, excluding the ones against sixth-placed teams for those from groups with six teams) and second round play-offs (1 match) will qualify for the Women's World Cup, while the team with the worst combined record (group stage plus second play-off round) will enter the inter-confederation play-offs.

Scotland are currently in 5th place on that table but as mentioned earlier it will take a freakish set of results for us to make the top 3...
