Ally Bongo
That will be the Lib Dems as the new party of the Union and the EU in Scotland. Nawbags can have an easier conscience (in their own minds) by voting for them rather than the Tories Almost certain to be an SNP v Lib Dem election in Scotland and they will probably scoop up a number of seats due to tactical voting

Maybe they think no-one will notice.

In return, they'd stand aside in the seats that the Tories currently hold to try and stop the SNP taking them.

The seats which the torys hold usually don't have a strong libdem support, moray, gourdon, banff and buchan, aberdeen south, the lib dems stepping aside wont do much to held toe tory IMO, lib dems will hold their seats, possibly lose caithness. An election tomorrow will have the libs on 5 seats, torys 5, labour 3,, that would be my guess Edited September 15, 2019 by hampden_loon2878
exile
This week, the Supreme Court must come of age (New Statesman) " If the court decides that it has no jurisdiction.... it would go against the grain of the court’s evolving image of its own role in the constitutional landscape. It would also be, in my view, a dereliction of responsibility." Supreme court to hear claims suspension of parliament is unlawful (Guardian) Apparently proceedings are available live - due to start tomorrow morning. weekevie04
If he SNP joined in any form of government of ''National'' unity that would be a massive mistake, IMO. Yes, back a temporary PM/get the extension etc and then an election ; but the SNP do not need to be anywhere in there. Just back them from the sidelines and in the key votes they need. https://twitter.com/NicolaSturgeon/status/1177562148937064449 Edited September 27, 2019 by weekevie04

Behind this is that Johnson can't be trusted to not attempt any shenanigans that would mean crashing out of the EU without a deal so he needs to be removed from office to stop him. So the idea will be that they'll call a vote of no confidence and win. That will give Johnson two weeks to do whatever he needs to to win the subsequent VONC. Corbyn, would then take over as PM, with enough backing from the other parties and independents with two objectives. 1. Secure and pass into law an extension beyond 31st October - probably around 3 months. 2. Having done 1., call an immediate general election, which would like be in mid to late November. A couple of big problems with this, to be successful, they'll need support from at least some former Tories and Jo Swinson will have to wake up and smell the coffee. Why would Corbyn call an election when he has just reached the highest point in his career that he could ever have imagined? Especially when he knows that he will get absolutely humped in that election.

If he doesn't then he'll be subject to a VONC which he'll certainly lose.
Grim Jim
Corbyn could not just be caretaker, but the compromise Britain needs. Naw hear me out 😁 Firstly he's not that left wing, and (just to get this out the way) not anti-semitic. His domestic (English/Welsh) proposals are only copies of what we already have in Scotland (though derided by some as alt-whatever). Secondly, is anti-EU, but PRO-international (in the old-fashioned way). And thirdly, not anti-Scottish/Welsh (i.e. knows feck all, and cares less). But certainly pro-Irish... well half anyway. OK, I did say compromise. That's a lot more on offer from the union than I've heard articulated so far. However, he would get sunk by his own side, and now that the bonfires have been lit (or without excuse anyway) he'd get shredded down south by the Tories/media, so no chance of him leading any 'compromise', so... ...a waste my breath. Coulrophobic Boris wins. The sun sets. [Just trying to think outside my own box and failing here. What else to do?]

What else to do?] I think that works up to a point, at least to allow some sort of Labour led govt to be palatable. But I think Corbyn himself is simply too much seen to be an extremist on other matters - socialism, not singing the national anthem, pro-Palestinian, Irish nationalism, anti nuclear, ... and now the threat to private schools OMG and private property and... aaargh, the commies are coming. Whereas someone like Margaret Beckett would seem more likely a compromise, with some of the less 'red in tooth and claw' labour stuff, and some actual Tory rebels have been quoted as saying she could be acceptable. (which would surely draw the Lib dems into line)
