You also have to take into account the UK's debt

If the RUK was to put up trade barriers with an Independent Scotland it loses around £70 billion annually if you include our share of Oil and Gas tax receipts - and that estimate is probably low because a lot of it will be based on GERS figures

I'm no economic expert but according to that oft used Jim Rodgers quote with the debt the UK is carrying losing oil and gas alone  would have serious consequences on the pound never mind the other £63 billion

The rUK will have already lost all that, as Scotland would no longer be paying into HM treasury, so i don't see what that has to do with the rUK's willingness to wage economic war on a former vassal which they've always considered 'their own' (see the Tory attitude towards Ireland throughout the Brexit process for evidence of that).

Thplinth is basically right i think. And i think the SNP high-command know it too, which is why they compromised on their strictly anti-Brexit position and voted for a form of Brexit which kept the UK in the Single Market during the indicative votes. They know by keeping the UK in the Single Market, they eliminate this issue.

We are still one of the largest economys in the world so that's something to be proud of.

Do you think that China or America are better places to live based on them having a larger economy than the UK?

No, just prouder...or something.

It's a pissing contest basically. Doesn't matter what your country's quality of life is like, it's how big your total (not per capita) GDP is.

Britnat-o-nomics, init bruv? We won 2 world wars and 1 world cup, don't ye know?

Yeah, cheers man, you just ruined my point to him. 😁

Its a number, without added context it means bugger all. Something he doesnt seem to understand, we are mid table in the EU economies in real terms, certainly nothing to be proud about.

They wont lose the £63 billion if we continue to buy their exports - thats the point

They could take the oil and gas tax receipts hit but not losing £63 billion trade with that deficit

Britain is not a country - It is a land mass comprising of three countries

The UK or the Britain that you refer to is a political construct

If that's too difficult to comprehend then look at Scandinavia

Britain is a country.

As an aside i was thinking of taking Friday off to sit up as the results came in then noticed there wasnt any election specials on tv

Thats because the results, even the UK's, are not announced till Sunday - WTF is that about ?

As another aside

Can anyone think of what Scotland exports to the RUK that nobody else in Europe is interested in that would explain the discrepancy of what we export to the UK and the EU ?

For one thing it allows wee fannys like you to have the vote. 😁

Thanks for the abuse, but an entitlement to vote is not unique to the UK...

Such an eloquent answer to the question, though. The way in which you articulated your case was enlightening for all...

Britain is also often used to refer to Great Britain, which covers the countries of England, Wales and Scotland. No. The UK is a country, of which Britain is the largest part. The United Kingdom of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, is a nation

So the Uk is a country.

No idea who he is, but he handled that pretty well, that woman was a complete retard.

Id not get upset if politicians sometimes today members of the public to go fuck themselves at times, some people deserve it, although it certainly wouldnt go down terribly well.

It is because the EU elections are across the whole EU and other countries vote on different days including Saturday. They are not allowed to start the count until all the countries have voted. Presumably because how the first countries vote could influence later elections.

Most Scottish seafood goes to continental Europe rather than domestic markets.  There will be anomalies like this but I think in general it's just that more of the same stuff is exported to the rUK than the EU.

Also Corbyn has been egged and punched lately, yet Farage gets milkshaked and it's everywhere.

Probably thrown by someone claiming to be one of these socialist cunts who constantly complain about foobanks, the amount food that’s wasted and people going hungry
