Absolutely. And some would say the same of Scotland.

There is a difference, Scotland has a lot more natural resources than NI does.    Losing NI would probably be a net benefit to the exchequer, losing Scotland wouldn't.

TBF, it'll only be really big news once the ECJ opines.

^ True.
However : Scots law came up trumps here whatever ECJ decides.

Court of Session in Edinburgh ruled UK government couldn't appeal to its own Supreme court.
No wonder BBC has new black out.

Yes. At least, the 'powers that be' know the strategic value of Scotland, and would be prepared to pay for it, but many who believe they are simply subsiding Scotland would be among those willing to let go.

I do remember though, in 2014, several people from south of the border suddenly expressing an emotional personal bond as if it was their lochs and mountains they were going to lose, as if they genuinely felt the whole island belonged to them. Who from Great Britain genuinely would go to Belfast or Lower Lough Erne and claim it was as British as Finchley?

Is anybody else worried about the propsect of a United Ireland, caused by the Brexit shenanigans, ultimately leading to us being landed with thousands of fuck-wit immigrants from Proddy Ulster, who don't want to be governed by Dublin?

Not especially but you are aware that the majority of those "fuck-wit immigrants" are of Scottish descent.

Ross Thomson needs to decide where his blood red lines lie

On 9th November he tweeted:

Any guarantee of full continued access to our fishing waters for the EU beyond December 2020 is totally unacceptable. We must have compete sovereignty over our EEZ and any access by EU vessels is done so on our terms. This is a blood red line for the @ScotTories MPs.

But yet he is also claiming (most recently today):

There can be no border down the Irish Sea splitting off Northern Ireland from the rest of the UK. Our union must be indivisible before, during and after #Brexit. (He seems to fear this not only for the sake of NI but Scotland splitting from UK.)

But what if he can't have both? Is he (or Theresa May on his behalf) going to sacrifice the fisheries, or the precious union by casting NI overboard? (My guess is May would rather sacrifice the fisheries, so what happens to his blood red line?)

Ross Thompson is playing to the [fishermen’s] gallery.

His seat is up in fishing communities is it not?

He’ll fall into line after the next tory leader is chosen.

Yes Ross Thomson is the Scottish Conservative and Unionist MP for Aberdeen South.

but he is simultaneously saying "We can never accept a border down the Irish Sea".

But isn't any deal with the EU is likely to lead to either EU conditions for NI (= border) or whole UK (= fisheries sacrifice).

Its been such a strange posture from the tories as they have pinned everything in scotland behind taking control of “our waters” they have kinda backed themselves into a corner as anything less than full control will be seen as a sell out,, the tide is turning and the fall out for the torys selling out the fishing will go further than the fishing communities, its kind of became symbolic in some brexiters minds who know nothing about the fishing

I’ve never heard the tories in Scotland saying Scotland taking back control of of waters. it’s always been just ‘taking back control of our waters.’

in reality they’re saying Westminster taking control of Scotland’s fishing waters.

As I said he’ll fall into line under a new tory leader.

Does a "NO deal brexit" not give him both?

I don’t see the connection with all that (which is true) and trying to scare people about leaving the EU.
