Parklife
Dunno about comparison but Aer lingus fly to NY via Dublin and with good flight times. Not sure if anyone flys direct from Glasgow?

scottincarlisle
Skyscanner is a good start https://www.skyscanner.net/
killiefaetheferry
Aye, Skyscanner is good. Includes Ryanair/Easyjet etc.

rolaaand
Aye skyscanner is always a decent place to start. United fly direct to Newark from Glasgow and Delta start direct JFK at the end of May. Icelandair sometimes do some good deals via Keflavik. Going gia Dublin as Parklife suggests also has the advantage of having US customs and immigration clearance in Ireland. You then land at JFK as a domestic passenger, grab your bags and straight into a taxi.
giblet
United flies to Newark from Edinburgh as well, worth comparing at time of booking.
dan cake
I always "wiki" the airport I want to go to, it lists the airlines that fly there, then work backwards. People pay far too much for travel/ holidays due to laziness imo time v money I suppose
Ormond
Do yourself a favour and try and not be woooed by the cheap American company flights. American Airlines are the worst of them too. Hence the cheap prices.
Mazziessc
Skyscanner was always a favourite of mine but recently I have been using the "Flights" tab on travel republic. It will give you + or - 3 days of a selected date, includes the same airlines as Skyscanner but more importantly lets you select an unlimited amount of departure airports then lists them by cheapest. As previously mentioned Dublin - NY is the cheapest. Did this last year and got to Dublin £18rtnpp from Glasgow.
slasher
Be careful if you book via Dublin. Although clearing customs there sounds appealing Aer Lingus have a nasty habit of changing flight times making your connection impossible. They did this recently forcing us to cancel. We rebooked with BA via London with a direct flight back to Edinburgh for virtually the same price ?
