Bannannan
Don't like Roger but don't think he'd do doping. His present coach had a wonderful backhand in his playing days and seems to have taught Roger something new,as did Lendl with Andy's forehand.Hope anyone going to Roland Garros has a great time.Best tournament in the world imo. Caledonian Craig
The main thing for Murray was to win. He got better after a slow start which was to be expected given how this was his first match in around a month and practice not being possible to any great degree due to his elbow injury. Caledonian Craig
Very disappointing loss for Murray against Ramos-Vinolas. Murray led 4-0 in the final set and ended up losing it 7-5. A match he should have won but contrived to lose. Very good quality match though but a sore loss to take and a stack of ranking points dropped. Parklife
Quality self-deprecating slagging from Murray today, shouting "I can't even play!" at himself during the change of ends.
adamntg
I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's been absolute chronic since he took the Queen's shilling.

min
It's a bad loss and obvious that his serve is nowhere near good enough at the moment. Word of him entering the 250 in Hungary next week - elbow permitting - to get additional match time.

min
Not such a problem ranking points wise after Djokovic losing in the QF. Nadal looking as good as ever on clay and strolls into the final - easy week for him and already favourite for a tenth RG. Andy entered as a wildcard in the Barcelona 500 next week so at least the elbow must be ok!
ibelieve!!!
Ilie Nastase is making an arse of himself the last few days, can see him getting in a bit of trouble. During an interview when a player was being asked about Serenas pregnancy he was overheard saying "Let's see what colour it has. Chocolate with milk?" And now he was chucked out of the Romania v GB match for arguing with the umpire and calling a UK player and captain bitches.
Caledonian Craig
Andy Murray up and running with a 6-4 6-4 win over Feliciano Lopez in the Third Round in Barcelona. Some things worked well, some not so well but the more court time he gets the better and he can only do that by winning matches. Next up he could face Ramos-Vinolas (who beat him last week) or Bautista-Agut.

Accepts a wildcard for Barcelona to gain some match time then Tomic pulls out injured yesterday and the rain delay today. It is Ramos-Vinolas tomorrow - in the form of his life - so a tough test and an opportunity to make amends for last week.
Caledonian Craig
A gutsy win yesterday from Andy. He dug deep and came through to win against an in-form clay court specialist in three sets in almost three hours. The court time will do him the world of good and the win should give him a bit of confidence and momentum. Today he takes on Dominic Thiem in the semis of the Barcelona Open - a match I'd expect him to win.
Caledonian Craig
Sadly wasn't to be for Andy today losing 2-6 6-4 4-6 against No 4 seed Dominic Thiem in the semis of the Barcelona Open. Still a handy tournament giving him court time and showing that he's finding better form.
Caledonian Craig
Decent start to Madrid Masters for Andy Murray today. He has beaten Marius Copil 6-4 6-3 to move into the Third Round. Going to be tough this week as Andy has 1000 points to defend as he won this tournament last year.

Lost in the Final last year, then beat Djokovic the following week in the Rome Final. Andy has a mountain of points to defend over the next 6 months. Will be difficult to retain number 1 beyond Wimbledon, unless he wins it.
Donaldo87
Anyone got any strong views on the Sharapova stuff going on just now. Personally I find all the stuff from Bouchard a bit OTT and the lassie should be allowed to get back on with her career. Kinda on the fence about the wildcards as I can see both sides of the argument but leaning towards the tournaments can do what they want.
Bannannan
Sharapova is 30 years hold, has a fortune and shouldnt be getting wild cards instead of young players trying to make their way.Plus she's Russian they do doping.

Djokovic is closest in ranking points but he has just as many points to defend and looks set to drop bucket loads of them rather than gain. Wawrinka is far too inconsistent to go on a rampaging run to scoop up points. Federer is a little too far back given that he says he is going to miss all the clay court season barring RG plus he does have healthy amount of points to defend at Wimbledon. Rafa Nadal I would say is too far back as well to overtake Murray anytime soon. I am not saying Murray won't be unshipped from No 1 soon just that I don't see it happening until perhaps Autumn. Murray is safe until after Wimbledon, I think. Federer only has around 1500 points to defend for the rest of the year though, Murray around 9500. He'll need to rediscover some great form to have an extended stay at #

It has to be remembered as well that by the end of Wimbledon Andy will have been at No 1 for around 35 weeks - a continuous run at the top not to be sniffed at. I think maybe only four or five players have spent longer spells at No 1 since the rankings came into being.
