This came up on the transfers thread, but how many goals do people think Oli McBurnie will score at Sheffield United this season? I think around five.
Looking at the last ten years, only nine players have scored more than ten goals for a side that ended up being relegated and four hadn't played in the Premier League before that season:
Charlie Austin at QPR in 2015 (18 goals);
Charlie Adam at Blackpool in 2011 (12 goals);
Adam Le Fondre at Reading in 2013 (12 goals);
Arouna Koné at Wigan in 2013 (11 goals).
Adam and Koné had both played European football elsewhere before playing in the Premier League. Austin had a number of seasons at Championship level prior to his first Premier League season, while Le Fondre had only one Championship season. Only Koné played for a different club the season before.
Of course these figure assume Sheffield United will be relegated - they are favourites to be - but it gives an idea about how many goals players at lower end teams end up scoring (ten goals is just over one goal every four games).
