  1. People talk about Foden and Mount, but Gilmour could be better than both of them. Not a knee jerk reaction. This is him at 20, imagine what he's going to be like when he has a couple hundred matches under his belt.
  2. Grant Hanley has shades of Colin Hendry about him. The older he gets, the better he becomes. An absolute mountain last night.
  3. As much as the Scotland players outshone their England counterparts, Souness was in amazing form. He obliterated Ian Wright, etc, for the whole of the segment after the final whistle. Graeme Souness delivers brutal England verdict as he delights Tartan Army with 'football ain't coming home' line
  4. A top drawer performance. If we take this into Tuesday, with the same passion and no little skill, and hopefully a goal or two, we will progress out of the group. All of the players were magnificent. Special praise for O'Donnell (who looked like a right sided Andy Robertson) for rebounding after the Czech match.
  5. Marshall McTominay Hendry Tierney O'Donnell Robertson McGregor Gilmour McGinn Adams Dykes
  6. Well, if nothing else, that formation will stump the English.
  7. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/england-fans-chant-f-you-24349257 What a shock, the mood changes from good humour to sinister when the English fans make an appearance. Hopefully the police keep their lot in check.
  8. On Mr Brown's boys and (was it Fred McAuley?) said something like "not everyone in the camp was happy" Craig Burley's name popped up in my mind. And it turns out that it was him who was unhappy. He always struck me as a moaning wee git. Still remember when he got into a feud with Gullit, which lead to his move to Celtic. Don Hutchison on the other hand, one of my favourite players. Also, Championship Manager 93/94 legend.
  9. Lol!! I was actually thinking of that! Couldn't remember his name! Great minds. Sounds about right. And McNamara was a right back. It seems that I have an even worse memory. Ah. In fairness, you weren't far off. And what a player Hutchison was! He never had a bad game for us. Just one of those players. McGinn always strikes me as a kid in the playground that has downed 10 double Espresso's and 5 Red Bulls before kick off. 😛 Yeah. Collins just oozed class. hopefully. Hopefully he starts.
  10. Possibly. The main thing is that Gilmour starts. Back in the 90s team we had Collins, McAllister, Lambert (and McCall was awfully underrated - he could play a bit) but the current lot, only Gilmour can dictate the tempo. For me, the performance as well as the result hangs on the Gilmour decision. It sounds crazy saying that a match is hanging on a lad who has just turned 20, but he's a special talent.
  11. One of my biggest memory of that match was Kevin Keegan's head dipping deeper and deeper into his coat the more ths match went on. Also, David Beckham pushed so far back by our left wingback (McNamara?) that he was pretty much a 2nd right back. It was a fantastic performance. Both were, actually. It's a damn shame that Lambert picked up an injury leading up to the playoffs. If Lambert was there, we would've won the tie. Yeah. I think it was. And I agree about Collins and Ferguson. As much as I love McGinn, he isn't exactly a composed figure who will dictate play, same with McTominay. For that reason, Gilmour must start.
  12. Watching the 96 match on ITV4, our midfield three have to replicate the midfield trio of Collins, McAllister and McCall. Those three dominated the majority of that match. Not an easy ask, when you consider that it was against Ince and Gascoigne.
  13. Steve Clarke is always going on about the Scotland players being brave and courageous. He should lead by example. Start Billy Gilmour.
  14. Rio Ferdinand saying to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink that it'll be "easy" for England tomorrow.
  15. I like Lovejoy, he's actually a really nice guy. Wotton's a smug a-hole who thinks he's funny.
  16. Any relation to Tim? There's a name from the past. I miss him and Helen Chamberlain. Rob Wotton? Now there's a face that you wouldn't tire of flicking.
  17. 100% agreed. The more you think about it, the stranger it is. I think that it's easy to be wise after the event, but both should've had cameos in either match. Much like Wijnaldum and De Jong came off 30 minutes into our friendly against the Dutch. Patterson, especially, needs matches, as he sure as hell isn't getting them at club level.
  18. True. Giving him 160 minutes over those two matches was reckless. Tierney has been passed fit.
  19. Kieran Tierney in UEFA Euro 2020 boost as Arsenal star takes part in FULL training ahead of England showdown I used to give him pelters for pulling out of Scotland squads in the past, but I think we're now seeing the reasons why. Celtic had a wonderkid on their hands and they severely overplayed him. It's not like they had to, it's the SPL, they could've played a youth player at left back and they'd beat 10 out of 11 teams.
  20. Definitely. It's always the way, isn't it? Two world class players and fate steps in "Nah! You'll have one and you'll be grateful!" It's maddening. Best case scenario, he'll be raring to go for both matches... even if it means he'll miss a part of Arsenal's pre-season. Let's be honest, we deserve a wee bit of luck with regards injuries, when you count Darren Fletcher, McFadden, Gordon, Kennedy.
  21. It's a bit of a sickened, isn't it? I don't know. Having him on the field would be a plus, for the reasons you said, but I'm not sure if it's worth it if he isn't fully ready. It's a variable that we don't need.
