Season 22/23
Denny’s Yard replied to dandydunn's topic in Football related - Discussion of non TA football
Absolutely agree. Rangers especially have pushed for B teams in the cup and lower league. Then they get a taste of what those lower leagues can be like and it is a complete melt down. -

The whole “assault on a young boy” narrative is a nonsense anyway. He isn’t 9. He is playing men’s football. -
Season 22/23

Lowry was being Billy Big Bollocks the whole game, being an absolute dick towards the Dumbarton players, especially the keeper and winger, both as young as he is. You pull that in nonsense at league two level and there is only going to be one ending. Hope the kid is okay and has learned his lesson. -
Coronavirus

To be fair to the big man, he tries hard and might occasionally do something to make you think there is a footballer in there. But having watched most Dumbarton game last season I can tell you there definitely isn’t! I agree on Goodwillie, a huge threat when played in the right position. Lennon appears to have lost the plot. Good luck for the rest of the season, and apologies to everyone else for taking the thread off at a tangent. -

I’m guessing you wish you had stayed in the house! All of the above nonsense, and then you have to watch big Bobby Jones play. -
Scottish Cup....
Denny’s Yard replied to Big Ramy 1314's topic in Football related - Discussion of non TA football
We have too many other things to be raging about at the moment to get overly worked up about a dodgy refereeing decision. https://www.sportbible.com/football/news-funny-reactions-dumbarton-goalkeeper-kicks-ball-against-teammate-and-scores-own-goal-20210321?source=twitter -
Scottish Cup....

No idea why that wasn’t given. Anyone able to shed any light on the referee’s thinking? Anyway, a decent defensive performance from the Sons but obviously no complaints about the final result. Our problem is that our league form is dire and unless we start scoring and picking up points relegation Is a certainty. -
Well that single post was the beginning and the end of my career in political forecasting. I think the bit in bold is interesting, though. I would still say they did not and do not want Trump. But even now, after he has lost the WH, Senate and the House, he and his base still have a huge amount of power over the GOP. Maybe they are the GOP now. https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/27/politics/cpac-2021-speeches-saturday-2024-republicans/index.html

Coronavirus
Denny’s Yard replied to WCTA's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
I know around 50 or so people who have had COVID and none of them have, to my knowledge, long term health issues. Of course, this proves nothing except that anecdotal evidence is not particularly reliable. -
Middle lane drivers?
Denny’s Yard replied to jcs's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
I’ve lived in the US for long enough now that I just overtake in whatever lane I feel like, inside, outside, middle. No problem. 😁 -
What Do You Call This Place?

The Tamb Mind you, it has been many years since I said that out loud. There was a time when I did, though, and I think I still have the t-shirt to prove it! -

Salt ‘n’ sauce or salt & vinegar? -
Madeleine McCann
Denny’s Yard replied to WCTA's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
Yeah, I read it earlier this year. It was very good, if not quite what I was expecting. -
Madeleine McCann

I agree with this. Although reading Outliers did then lead to me reading The Sports Gene by David (not Jeffrey) Epstein, which is an excellent book. -
The FBI just released a statement that Maxwell died earlier today after smashing her own head repeatedly against a blunt object. When questioned over the unusual cause of death they responded that it was because she refused to die by hanging herself.

Bands you never seen ?
Denny’s Yard replied to bonzo's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
Rich, thanks, good to hear. Will be first in line for tickets if they make it to the US. I really only have myself to blame for not seeing them sooner. Ironically, my sister who dislikes The Cure and has the worst taste in crap pop music, has seen them live before. -
Bands you never seen ?

Of my favorite bands I think The Cure are probably the only one I have not seen. Hopefully they will tour again but mad Bob isn’t getting any younger and I worry he might knock it on the head soon.
