  1. It is definitely tactics and at times it looks as though he has been over coached to stay disciplined. He started as a striker, for me he naturally would like to go forward, box to box, arriving in the opposition box, scoring goals, I think if they let him of the leash a bit he could be a bit like Steven Gerrard, although I don't think he has Gerrard's passing ability.
  2. I don't know why he is still being touted, he was 1st touted about 2 seasons ago, and he is still playing League 1. Not good enough. McCrorie or Doohan have to progress quickly or we are up shit creek when Marshall retires. McLaughlin and McGilllivray are not the standard required, certainly nowhere near the standard we have had over the last 10 to 15 years
  3. If you were playing a 3 of him McGinn and McTominay, for him to move further forward you would have to drop McGinn or McTominay for Jack. McGinn isn't a holding Midfielder and certainly not a player who will receive the ball from defence and dictate play. I wouldn't pigeon hole Gilmour, I think he can play anywhere in Midfield but so far Chelsea see him as a deep lying playmaker and right now we have a position available there as a replacement for McGregor in the two in front of our defence beside Jack. My preference though would be to also push McTominay into Midfield instead of Jack and let Gilmour sit a little deeper so McTominay can go box to box... either. Jack. Gilmour. McGinn. Or. McTominay. Gilmour. McGinn
  4. Agreed, the Leeds defence was left wide open time and time again. The game was won in Midfield, Leeds always play man for man all over the pitch and United's Midfielders won their personal battles snapped into tackles won the ball and produced quick turnarounds
  5. Was fantastic yesterday absolutely brilliant midfield performance, it had everything. Just shows that when let of the leash a little he can be a great attacking threat also. Always thought there were goals in him, he should be allowed to play box to box for Scotland in my opinion. Him and McGinn can easily alternate box to box and have Jack or Gilmour sitting behind them.
  6. Thought he played quite well last night hard up against arguably the best team in the league just now but looked a threat
  7. Pirlo controlled every game he ever played in from the same deep role Gilmour plays for Chelsea
  8. The players we have at Bayern and Man City aren't even regulars in their youth sides at these clubs yet so let's not hold a torch for them like we have done for the likes of Jack Harper in the past, they have a long long way to go. Had high hopes for Liam Morrison but looking through Bayern's u19 lineups he is never in them so don't know what's happened there. Barry Hepburn got injured in his second game or something unfortunately so hopefully he gets back soon. The boys at Man City seem to start now and again but then drop to the bench. Hope they all go on to match Gilmour though
  9. Gilmours job wouldn't be to win the ball back and do most of the physical work that would be McTominays beside him. Gilmours job is to dictate play in the same mould Xabi Alonso did from a slightly deeper role, the same role he plays for Chelsea. McGinn is a massive threat pushed further forward did he not finish our highest scorer in an advanced position this year
  10. Same 3 for me but no way should McGinn be holding. Gilmour should be deepest everything should go through him. McTominay beside him and McGinn advanced
  11. Why, he's played for England, he's English. If England came in again to play for them in the Euros he would choose them over us again, why do you want someone who isn't truly committed in the squad over guys who are. Imagine Gallagher or Considine losing their place to a guy like this, it would be a disgrace
  12. Good header from Burke good save from keeper first half. He needs a run of games
  13. Exactly, still an ignorance from some people regarding other leagues in Europe, the Scottish Premier League is ranked 14th in Europe and that is because of 2 teams, the rest are dug meat
  14. Out with the Premier League we have had 'players in action' in the 4th, 6th and 8th best leagues in Europe consecutively now for the last few weeks and playing well. These guys are starters for their clubs in leagues that are a higher standard than our League in 14th. Is there a strong argument these guys should be included very soon and given a chance. On paper it's a no brainer when you see a guy playing in Serie A who is comfortable at left back and right back surely he should get in ahead of others in our squad. Hendry playing in Belgium at a higher level than a number of our other centre backs and gaining wonderful praise. And Gauld starting to show his class in the 6th best league in Europe!
  15. McCrorie would be a better right wing back than all of them and he's primarily a central mid!
  16. Also just realised it's for the euros so the fact he's Argentinian might have something to do with it lol
  17. 10 posts in and no one has taken Messi! 🤔suppose I don't really need him if I take Faddy as well 🤪
  18. Morgan is another interesting one. Seems to be playing really well over there and could be a good option for us as a back up to Fraser or Christie in that position just of Dykes or if we change things up out wide. Wouldn't mind giving him another go although I still have reservations after his poor loan spell at Sunderland.
  19. Wouldn't right him off, he has great natural attributes for a central defender, pace strength, height, confidence was just shot to pieces at Celtic. Davie Weir came good for us later in his career, maybe with some experience behind him and confidence Jack Hendry can get in about the squad again it's never too late. He actually played well for Scotland in the games he did play.
  20. More than just an alternative to Dykes or McBurnie I think we need an alternative to the system when things aren't going to plan. When we go 1 nil down or when we need to break a team down we struggle. We are a little thin on creativity, most of our chances come from our pressing, or feeding off second balls. When this doesn't work we really need players who can come off the bench and change the game and apart from Christie and Fraser there is no one else really who could unlock a team with a pass or bit of skill. I think we need to look at players such as Ryan Gauld, Billy Gilmour, Mikey Johnston if they are all fit and on form as players who could potentially come on and open teams up.
  21. No your right there is no evidence yet until it has been tried, so why not try something that hasn't done before there is more to gain than lose. I also think you are right that, although they should start in league 2 which is only fair, I don't think a colt team should be held back if they win that league, I think they should be allowed to be promoted as far as the Championship, that would be great for their development. Players like Billy Gilmour are a different case altogether, they are targeted as potentially elite level players at an early stage, no harm in them getting picked up and trained by elite level clubs if that's the road they want to go down, but not everyone is a Billy Gilmour and picked up at that age, youngsters develop in different ways at different stages in their career. There doesn't have to be a set route to the top but opening up as many routes as possible gives us a greater possibility of developing more top players. Some will get the early move like Gilmour. Some will benefit more from the loan system. Some would benefit from a Colts set up. Let's open up as many avenues as possible for our youngsters to progress
  22. Always been a good player Chris Burke surprised he hasn't had more caps for Scotland, bit old now though I think
