  1. You will rip your own face off and eat it if McTominay becomes a starter over Matic. Well that now gives us all two reasons to really hope he does. If only to stop the negative drivel being spouted constantly by you. Again you are confusing reality with foresight. You foresee McTominay becoming a bit part player and moving down the leagues. Your opinion, not the reality of the situation. In reality you, me and know one else has a scooby doo how his career will turn out, but in reality he has broken into the Man Utd first team squad last season and is now a regular in their match day squads, whilst regularly getting minutes from a manager, one of the greatest there has ever been, who rates him. No one knows what the future holds for him but to put him down and say his career is now a downward spiral just as it is beginning in 'reality' is nothing but a negative opinion. Not reality.
  2. Well down the pecking order? On the bench for Man Utd, first game of the season and came on with 15 mins to go. Some people just try and be negative. This boy has done brilliant to be in and around a squad costing absolute millions and he more than holds his own every time he plays. Mourinho, one of the greatest managers of all time, does nothing but praise the boy but yet some on here choose to be negative in every discussion regarding Scott McTominay. Who is to say it isn't Matic and Herrera now done the pecking order? He's making his way, very well, at the biggest club in the world, just let him get on with it.
  3. Well McTominay is one, Armstrong, Cairney, McDonald or McArthur potentially the others. All Premiership midfielders this season
  4. Exactly my thinking mate, and even worse I see young McCrorie has been bombed out of the starting line up for the start of the season. One of few Rangers players to shine last season and out the starting line up already this season for a bunch of foreigners.
  5. I'm not sure what the better move is for McGinn here. In the past I would always say test yourself at a higher level, but Rodgers has done a cracking job of improving the Scottish lads at Celtic the last couple of years. A similar route down south via Celtic like Stuart Armstrong may work better in the long run
  6. Jeez I thought you were talking sense until you came to and described Graeme Shinnie and Ryan Jack as two of our big players.... Neither are better players, in better form or playing at a higher level than John Fleck
  7. Agreed mate. Aitchison and Mikey Johnston should be ready for first team football now both should be playing somewhere every week.
  8. The one young striker who I can't understand hasn't progressed as much as I'd hoped is Jack Aitchison as every time I have watched the younger Scotland sides play he is always the main man, always pops up with important goals and good performances, both him and Mikey Johnston were the best players for Celtic in the UEFA Youth League last season as well. Scored in his debut for Celtic at 16 but hasn't had much of a sniff since unfortunately. Still very young but Johnston seems to be in and around the first team now whereas Aitchison is no where to be seen
  9. So who do we actually have coming through then? We literally don't seem to have a decent striker coming through anywhere just now
  10. Jack Hendry getting praise from Rodgers for last night's performance but then being pilloried in the Daily Record.... Strange
  11. Stevie Fletcher's a strange one with the fans, a lot of people just don't rate him but when you see how thin we are on options after him he really is still about the next best striker we have after Griffith's. Let's be honest he's no Ibrahimovic but he would probably still bang in a good few goals in Scotland. He's a decent number 9 leads the line quite well decent touch, goalscoring records not great for Scotland but prob still the second best of a bad bunch
  12. Really disappointing Gauld hasn't pushed on tbh still time though I suppose. He is two years younger than McGregor who has only just broken in to the squad so a couple of good seasons could push him in there
  13. Agreed absolutely good enough considering he is as you said one of the best players in the Championship. Those who disagree are ignorant to his performances since he left Rangers
  14. I don't disagree they are doing good things at youth level but still between 18 and 21 there should be more young players playing first team football. There is absolutely nothing wrong with dropping down divisions at that age to play every week and learn the game. Just because you play on loan for Queens park doesn't mean you will end up playing for Queens park. Best example Andy Robertson. In fact the majority of the Scotland Squad have not come through an old firm youth system. A player like Calvin Miller should be playing every week. He is back up to Kieran Tierney. Tierney is excelling and Miller's sitting watching him. Get out there and play yourself. He may not be better than Tierney but he never will be if he never plays!
  15. Anyone rather than sitting on the bench at Celtic or Rangers. How can you ever learn to play football without actually playing football..... Rangers and Celtic do a lot of good for the Scottish national team, Celtic under Brendan Rodgers especially have recently made a point of developing home grown players. But young boys at those clubs are generally the best at their age in the country, but they are not as good as the first team players, unless they are very special, yet...... So they need to learn, need to play, to become better than the players they are hoping to replace. I'm not slating the old firm, it is what it is, they will always hoover up the best young talent as they simply have the bigger reputation better resources and more money to spend. They should not though hoover these players up and then leave them to rot from 18 till 21 kicking their heels on the bench or playing in reserve leagues until they are deemed no longer potential but past 21 and not good enough. If it's a loan a transfer or a Bit team great but something needs done to introduce full time men's football to these boys from 18 onwards or they will hit 21 22 like all the rest and not learned a jot
  16. Do you even watch football mate. Every single one of the players I have mentioned has played for their clubs and for Scotland in the positions I've quoted. It will take them 10 years to learn a new system and position. Teams change formation and systems all the time it is a part of football. What an idiotic comment
  17. Forrest or Fraser as Right Wing Back options and Robertson and Douglas Left Wing Back options with Tierney left sided Centre Half. McKenna Central of the three and Hendry right sided Centre half. Sorted for the next 10 years!
  18. Forrest has been playing brilliant at right wing back on many occasions for Celtic and more importantly in Champions League games so what makes people think Scotland can't play 3 at the back with James Forrest as a right wing back
  19. It's just a pity as it stands two of our best young prospects will be spending the majority of their time on the bench and playing reserve league football this season as the Old Firm spend money on duffers. Both are ready for first team football they really should be playing a full season at this age to develop. Give the boys a chance. Same with Jack Aitchison btw what is the point of them playing another season of boys football
  20. John Fleck getting rave reviews for his performance for Sheffield United in their pre season match v Inter Milan. Should have definitely been involved in our last two friendlies after the season he had last year tbh
  21. That is the reason the squad looks slightly weak as our best u20 players are in the full squad which is obviously a good thing but maybe Tierney and Burke should have played at this tournament to gain more experience at an international tournament, sure they would have fancied playing the Brazilians
  22. The thing is we actually have a very decent young side in the not too distant future. Next campaign our side could look something along the lines of this which is actually not too bad with potentially and hopefully some more players breaking through to add to it. Id like to see a starting 11 next campaign of... Gordon Tierney Hanley Mulgrew Robertson McCarthur Armstrong Cairney Burke Fraser Griffiths Potential for McGinn to come into midfield in place of McArthur depending how he develops but he is really good at breaking up play and starting attacks. And then there is potentially Ryan Gauld to fight it out with Tom Cairney for a place next to Armstrong but again that depends on him firstly getting first team football and secondly performing to the standards Cairney has set this season. I would probably have Archer as Gordons understudy as well as keeping the likes of Snodgrass and Morrison in the squad to help the younger guys coming through, but next campaign is definitely the time for the younger ones to come to the fore. As for centre back that just continues to frustrate, unfortunately just nothing coming through. Liam Lindsay might progress and hopefully Murray Wallace steps up a level until then stuck with what we have.

    U17s

I thought of something along similar lines to these central colt teams a while back and think its a brilliant idea! Surely someone at the SFA has thought of this as well
  24. My line up v Canada would be 4-3-3 Gordon Martin Berra Robertson Tierney McCarthur Armstrong Cairney Phillips Fraser Rhodes
