  1. All sorted now 😀 Mon Scotland !!!!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  2. I appreciate it is very late in the day but I wonder if anyone running a bus to Ireland game has two spare seats for an Aberdeen pickup ( cancellations perhaps ) If so could you let me know contact details many thanks 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  3. As an Aberdeen fan I would never boo a Scotland player onto pitch due to their club allegiance and I didn't hear any booing on Friday when Jack came on ( around section P2) I think that the situation at Holland game at Pittodrie related more to Dons fans who don't normally go to Scotland games and it was mostly to do with the bad feeling about the specifics surrounding his departure .His captaincy ahead of Shinnie was also a significant gripe amongst Dons fans Even this would have lessened if Shinnie had been allowed to make his debut at the ground where he is captain .McLean was leaving, Christie on loan and Jack had left in bad circumstances but all 3 played. Giving Shinnie 10 or 15 minutes as a sub in a friendly would have helped . For those of us who are Aberdeen and Scotland regulars many were hacked off that he didn't get a chance especially having shelled out for a meaningless Malta game in Portugal when he was about the only unused sub That all said I still wouldn't nor would I condone booing Jack. That all said he is not a player I particularly rate and his selling of the goal against Belgium was fairly typical of his shortcomings
  4. I wouldn't bother with music at the goals just let the crowd celebrate and a song or a chant will emerge as if by magic. Somewhere in the stadium ( in every stadium ) there is the guy who starts the song but 99+ % of fans do not know who he is or where he is ..he's just "the guy" and we all join in
  5. With the amount of calls offs and players not considered due to club commitments it does seem like a pointless exercise other than working out the quickest route for the players bus to travel from the hotel to the stadium. That was lacklustre in the extreme and I'm not sure what the players or management actually got out of it, what did we actually learn ? the ability to beat one player shield the ball from another in order to get a passback on target ? Let's just go at France and if we get beat we get beat ,we'll still get opportunities to perfect our passbacks
  6. 1983 ..seems like a lifetime away. It's funny the daft things I remember from the day . Flying from Dyce and as soon as the the plane started moving every passenger stamping their feet and singing "here we go here we go here we go" I thought we were going to be grounded , we stayed in a wee town just outside Gothenburg and pre match our bus was like Aladdins cave as everyone had bought presents for mums ,wives and girlfriends in order to justify being there and deposited them before heading back to pub.The Swedes were supporting us and I gave one a scarf early in first half .10 minutes before Hewitt scored the winner I headed down to front in the pishin rain half the length of pitch away to urge them on ... ...Then whilst going mental with my dad at the final whistle the Swede appeared to give me my scarf back " nah yer aright min" :-) Weirdist of all was that I knew we would win ,not a hunch, not a feeling not even the slightest doubt I knew ! I have never been so sure in my life of anything before or since. Nowadays at Pittodrie or Hampden if we go a goal ahead I'm like "oh Shit" as I fumble nervously with a werthers original changed days indeed !
  7. "After the game legendary Real coach Alfredo Di Stéfano conceded the better team had won and commented; "Aberdeen have what money can't buy; a soul, a team spirit built in a family tradition and a Greggs" or something like that ...it was a couple of seasons ago
  8. Aye and they've avoided playing us in a final ever since, scared of another beating Stand Free :-)
  9. What time do you leave for evening games ? and what route to Glasgow.? I drove from Aberdeen to both the Germany and Poland games in what I thought was good time and hit tailbacks just after Stirling services which meant that after eventually finding somewhere to park I missed the vast majority of both first halves.Just wondering if "Rowies" luxury coach travel is the way to go :-)
  10. Safe standing is possible and there are allowances for it in the "green guide" safety at sports grounds. This requires safety barriers which are not available in the all seated grounds in Scotland at present. In certain steep stands 'standing is particularly unsafe as the back of the seat in front is so low that a shove from the back can mean falling forward with no ability to save yourself. Hampden has relatively shallow stands where standing isn't so unsafe. I do not mind standing but appreciate that for children, elderly or infirm fans this can prove difficult as they simply cannot see the game. Until designated properly designed safe standing is put in place the most that you can hope for is that in certain areas of stands it is tolerated . To balance this it should be made clear that in other areas the rule "no standing" is strictly enforced. This should be made clear to fans at the outset and if they go to game and refuse to sit down chuck them out. The family area used to be great when my kids were younger but recently more and more groups of drunk adults with no kids have got tickets there and don't give a toss about others . As long as they can stand ( sway)barge past to get to toilets in a constant relay ,sing (slur) then who cares about the kids behind them ...it's all about the bounce! In short respect areas of ground where it is established as a sitting area and if you can't either go to another "standing" section of ground or stay in the pub
  11. In fairness once I had contacted an actual person and not a generic e mail they were really helpful and made sure everything got sorted with tickets and refund. Which I thought was pretty good customer service. Think there were a few glitches with e mails getting through...I now sort of regret e mailing the Spanish Government and telling them that since they're losing Catalonia they should just take over Gib to make up the numbers.....Ooops my bad
  12. Tickets now received and printed Thanks for the advice fringo , the Doric's back in the box .......until they foul one of our boys !
