  1. Theres always a chance of an injury or 2. If there is injuries to our midfielders then I can't think of many who would be ahead of cairney.
  2. Whats impressive is barely any of his goals this season have been penalties which is a minor criticism I had of him last season. I think hes really cementing his chance at being third choice striker. Clarke has to give him proper gametime in the friendlies.
  3. It says 17 on transfermarket. Either way I agree hes earned a proper chance in the team especially after bailing us out against Georgia. Rangers or Celtic really need to buy him before a championship club comes in. Guys a good goalscorer and probably be perfect for rangers right now.
  4. Both were at fault but I would probably attribute more blame to marshall. No keeper should be that far off his line in that situation. Saying that it was a freak goal that had a huge element of luck and great finishing from the striker.
  5. Yeh the conference league has basically bumped up his transfer fee by 1 or 2m. I still think rangers should buy him even if it's 4 or 5m. He's worth it and would score 30 a season for rangers.
  6. Sounds like he was preventing them from getting humped every week although they weren't exactly getting great results with him in the side either. Usually watch out for their results and they were often drawing or narrowly losing.
  7. 15 goals so far this season. Probably get near to thirty this season. I think most have been non pens which was a criticism he faced last season. Pretty good going for a non old firm team.
  8. Clarke needs to give Ferguson a proper chance in the upcoming friendlies. Hes more than earned a chance to prove himself in the team.
  9. Tbf I didn't watch the whole game so I must have missed that.
  10. Watched some of the match and gilmour looked quite poor imo. Couple of misplaced passes and lost the ball a couple of times. Didn't really help create much either. Mostly backwards passes. Brighton on the whole looked average and didn't look like creating much.
  11. Ferguson plays further forward. Not sure who will replace McGregor when he goes unless we play mctominay there. Hackney looked like an ideal replacement but hes switched to England.
  12. It's hard to judge which young players will develop into stars. It's possible that McLean was a better player at that point. Mcginn has probably improved alot since his st mirren/Hibs days. Plus I don't think he was that impressive for Scotland in his early caps imo. It's only been the last 3/4 years that hes been amazing for Scotland.
  13. He still growing at 24/25? Didn't think that was possible. Not sure an extra couple of inches is going to make him alot better. Either way I agree he needs first team football.
  14. Yeh sorry I got the 2014 world cup mixed up with the 2018 world cup. Either way Russia qualified for the 2014 world cup and did well at the 2018 world cup. That means they were a decent side between that period. As for England they are always a tough team to play. They are an elite nation and have top players that usually qualify with ease for tournaments. Wales did very well to get out of the group. Not sure I know enough about Wales defensive record during that time so I can't really judge how good they were in that department.
  15. Not sure it's that much easier. Theres always upsets in tournaments and England going out to Iceland was an upset but they still had top players and were a top 10 side in the world. Russia had done well in the world cup and were a decent side around that time. They comfortably dealt with us a few years ago when they beat us 4 nil yet you think they were a poor side. Not sure how good Slovakia were at that time but they seem to be qualifying for the euros quite regularly so they can't be that bad. Whatever way you spin it Wales had a good team and were worthy of their success. They had two star players and a squad full of good epl and championship players. With good management and a good team spirit you can achieve alot with a squad like that.
  16. Looking at their games v England and Belgium it seems like the played three at the back. All three were playing epl football at the time. Williams was at Swansea and was a decent epl centre back at that time and had been a rock for Wales. Davies was at Tottenham Hotspurs after spending a good few years at Swansea. Decent player at epl level. Chester was at hull in the epl, not really sure how good he was but he did have a few years playing epl and played alot of championship football. Thats definitely a step up from our options. Saying that I agree that we can forge a good defence out of the limited options we have. Porteous and hendry have been excellent despite no top league experience. Tierney usually does well in the position as well despite not being a proper CB. Our defence seems well drilled and knows how to defend as a unit. We just need to keep Gunn fit and I think we should be able to keep most teams out.
  17. Thats a bit unfair on them, England are always a top team with top players and Russia usually have a decent team that plays well together. Slovakia aren't the minnows they used to be either. Wales did well and were obviously a good team around that period.
  18. Surprised Portugal have not called up livramento. Not sure what their right back situation is like but surely they don't have that many top right backs that they can overlook a talent like livramento.
  19. Yeh I see your point. He would maybe not get away with being as rough or dirty as he was. I still think he would be playing epl football as he was actually quite a decent player when he was fit.
  20. Hes always been terrible for pulling out or not being available. Clarke had to make an example out of him because he took the piss one to many times. Good player and I would like him back in the squad but his commitment in the past was poor.
  21. Would have to play a 4 at the back for that to work.
  22. What do you mean by top player? Ferguson was never a top player anyways. If you are saying he wouldn't have played in the epl then I would disagree. He was big strong athletic and had underrated ability with his feet. By the late 90s and early 00s the epl was in full flow and had top talent from around the globe on crazy wages. Ferguson was good enough to play in that period. I think he would still be a lower half epl striker if he was around today especially if he was less injury prone.
  23. His commitment is terrible, a guy his age should have double the amount of caps he has. Always pulled out of squads or wouldn't be available despite playing for his club regularly.
  24. I would like to see him get a loan move to lower epl team or a championship team. Give him a chance to play every week and develop his game, especially his end product.
