I was hoping he'd take someone like Hardie in the team to see if he can make the step-up as the striker position is the weakest area in the team & maybe give him something like 25 mins in the Netherlands game and then 45 mins in the Northern Ireland game.

Then again, I think that is the Euro squad right there that is going to Germany with Hickey & McGregor coming in & Kelly, Ralston, Taylor & Cooper dropping out.

That would be my guess although I’m not convinced he’d take Hanley and Souttar. Both have had a bit of a stop start season.

There’s some strong evidence of the Tartan Army rich/poor divide on the new ticketing system thread. One stand out comment being “if you desperately want a point then buy a ticket” but not everyone is in a financial position to spend three figures on tickets they aren’t likely to use just to climb the point ladder. Some are also mindful that the harvesting of points has a detrimental effect on good honest fellow patrons on the lower end of the scale

People buying ticket packages which often go unused or given/sold to someone else while the SSC member gains a point which goes a long way to future away games and finals sales priority

I’m sure most of us on the board are of a socialist political mindset and want to see a fairer society for all at all walks of life, even at the fitbaw

Perhaps it’s maybe time to have a period of levelling up. Members on a higher number of points ie elite perhaps only gain 1 point for away games while those on a lower number ie riff raff continue to gain 2. Similarly with home games the elite gain zero whereas the riff raff still gain 1

Another option might be to go all out socialist and half elite members points. Maybe even have a clean slate and all members start at zero. Tax the rich if you will. A fairer opportunity for all

This would be a great deterrent to those who are harvesting points at home games which for the last 6 years has gone unpoliced. Thankfully it looks like all away games are now 100% pick up so this new procedure of the app allocating points per attendance for home games is a welcome addition

Please be mindful of the threads title. A grown up conversation.

Greater degree of pick up always seems like a great idea but ultimately requires personnel and would add extra cost. There will always be harvesting etc but the current system is as good as it gets in my opinion.

We’ve all got a story about missing out on certain games and whether we like it or not the answer is to pick a random away game and start building the points up.

Levelling up is an awful idea.

Returned from injury, played 10 minutes and picked up another, different injury, he’s unfortunately probably out for the rest of this season.

Last update I saw was in January when Russell Martin said he was still on crutches.

Really unlucky and as you say highly unlikely he’ll play again this season.

Well we may well find out because I think Southampton may well play 1 up front, so Adams and Stewart could be in direct competition with each other for 1 starting place. I think there are aspects of Adam's game which are better to Stewarts, he's technically a better footballer. But I think Stewart is an upgrade in terms of goalscoring, Stewart wants to spend the whole game in the opposition box, Adams likes to drop deep, drift wide. Adams is more of a no 10, Stewart is a no 9. We are looking for a no 9. We have McGinn playing as a no 10, and he is a superior player to Adams in every aspect of the game.

As I said it'll be interesting to see what happens at Southampton, whether they play as a pair or the opt for 1 up front. And if they do play 1 up, who gets chosen.

Still a couple of weeks till Stewart is due to feature in squads for Southampton so November games probably just a bit too early for him. March friendlies would be more realistic. I’m quite looking forward to seeing him return.

looks like Sport Options are doing a 1 night option (out on Wednesday morning and straight back after the game on Thursday) for around £550

Wonkey Sheep doing a day trip (no details yet)

Where did you get details of this? I can’t find anything on their site.

If he’s broken his collarbone I can’t imagine he’ll be back in June.

    Hendry hasn’t played since February.

Bit worrying considering we’re up against the best centre forward in the world.

I think McKenna, Hanley and Hendry are our only centre backs that have played the central centre back role for us.

    Cooper has I think?

Suspect the keepers will be Kelly, Clark and Gunn (which on paper, looks a lot better than Kelly, Clark and either Rangers 2nd or 3rd choice keeper....)

With Cooper and McKenna out at their clubs for various reasons, feeling we could see Dominic Hyam called up.

Midfield, unless Clarke has a last minute Ace card up his sleeve to top Gunn, I doubt there will be any major changes (only story in papers about anyone else being called up is Allan Campbell).

Upfront I expected the strikers to be Adams, Nesbit and Shankland (depending on his fitness), but looks like Dykes recovery is well ahead of schedule, and would not actually be shocked if McBurnie does get a recall now his off the field activities are behind him.

Dykes played for QPR at the weekend so I reckon he’ll make it with one of Nisbet/Shankland.

Doubt if Hanley will ever jack it in.

Wouldn’t be so sure, I seem to recall Daryl Broadfoot discussing him on Sportsound at the start of Clarke’s reign and stated that Hanley took a bit convincing to come back into the fold due to some of the abuse he’d taken earlier in his career.

  9. Going to be really interesting to see the profile of subsequent squads after the success of this triple header. Barring emergencies I think we’ve seen the last of O Donnell and possibly Cooper. I could see Hanley jacking it in as well if he’s only coming along as a squad player.

As much as I wanted him back in action, it was really pleasing we took care of these matches without him. He's hada pretty tough time over the past year, so needs to get up to speed

100% this. A show of our depth that we managed without him, absolutely no doubt in my mind he’d have performed if required but he needs to concentrate on getting himself some game time at Brighton without any added pressure. He’ll be fine and will be back to his old(young)self by the time we get together again.

  11. Obviously a blow to lose so many players but it’s a massive indication of how much depth we have that we still have be so many options to call upon. On form alone I’d want to see Gallagher come in at the back but think Kingsley will get the nod as he’s left sided. Midfield doesn’t overly concern me as Gilmour, McLean or Jack are all able deputies for McTominay.

Seems weird - a LB for a RB and a centre half for a midfielder?  Don't really get that.

I’d agree, don’t think we need another midfielder called up since we have McLean Jack and Gilmour but I’d like to have seen a wide player or striker added.

Always felt gallagher got a raw deal. He played well in the games he got and ended up not playing a single minute at the euros and then got dumped out the squad. Josh doigs a strange one, surely we have plenty of left back cover in taylor, hickey and tierney.

Totally agree re Gallagher, suffered due to Hanley rebirth and an awful spell at Aberdeen.
