There must be a big difference between going to an international football match as a supporter and as a player. The emotional aspect of it is a major factor in supporting the team but I can't see how the nationality you "feel" you are will make much difference once the ref blows his whistle and you are focusing on playing in high intensity game...

I wouldn't say it's a continual weakening in this case. Ritchie qualifies under the same criteria that Bob Wilson did half a century ago. If you look at the World Cup a large number of players competing won't be participiating for their country of birth. I don't think it detracts from the tournament in terms of enjoyment or spectacle.

On first viewing I thought the penalty was a shoulder to shoulder challenge but on further viewings it was a definite push in the back. Would've been in full view of the linesman too (mind you he missed the offside for Celtic's 2nd too). The experts seemed split on it though, even last night on Sportscene: Mark Wilson- penalty, Barry Robson- no penalty.
