  1. It says he's of Lithuanian descent, I presume grandparents? Fair play to him, I don't think too many Jews returned there after the war... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Cohen_(soccer)
  2. He doesn't just feel English, he IS English. Anyone who's spent their whole life there clearly is. However he has Scottish heritage and is wants to play for us. If he's going to improve our squad I'm happy to welcome him aboard...
  3. Yeah that may have been it, a home nations agreement. Crazy rule really, and we missed out with Joe- imagine him and Law up front together!
  4. How come John Hewie could play for us yet Joe Baker had to play for England?
  5. Not a bad team that. I'd give George Boyd a game right now though The fact that we can field a team born in England really doesn't bother me. Scotland has suffered terribly from emigration over the years, if we can get a helping hand by exploiting players' ancestry then fine...
  6. There must be a big difference between going to an international football match as a supporter and as a player. The emotional aspect of it is a major factor in supporting the team but I can't see how the nationality you "feel" you are will make much difference once the ref blows his whistle and you are focusing on playing in high intensity game...
  7. Born in Glasgow, couldn't be more clear cut...
  8. I wouldn't say it's a continual weakening in this case. Ritchie qualifies under the same criteria that Bob Wilson did half a century ago. If you look at the World Cup a large number of players competing won't be participiating for their country of birth. I don't think it detracts from the tournament in terms of enjoyment or spectacle.
  9. Not uncommon these days among our highly paid pros. The days of it being the ultimate honour to win a cap for your country are long gone...
  10. The Express' headline on the other hand says: 69% FEAR UK WILL SPLIT
  11. As mentioned on here many times before, how Scottish you feel makes no difference to how well you play on the park. Kenny Dalglish grew up supporting Rangers but did a decent turn as a player for Celtic...
  12. Cooper was struggling to get a game for Rangers nevermind Scotland during Robertson's time. If Robbo kept anyone out the team it was Davie Provan, Peter Weir etc...
  13. He could turn out to be another Anya, nobody saw that coming...
  14. Them's the rules. Most other countries do it too...
  15. At least it didn't happen on MotD this time...
  16. I assume he's hoping the Labour vote in Scotland will recover after this announcement though?...

    U21 Squad

The game's round the corner from my Hungarian mate's house. He has no interest in fitba though...
  18. Is it not about who the intended recipient of the pass was, which was clearly Guidetti. It'd be interesting to know if the linesman would've flagged if he touched it. Tbh I doubt United would've scored if they were still playing anyway...
  19. On first viewing I thought the penalty was a shoulder to shoulder challenge but on further viewings it was a definite push in the back. Would've been in full view of the linesman too (mind you he missed the offside for Celtic's 2nd too). The experts seemed split on it though, even last night on Sportscene: Mark Wilson- penalty, Barry Robson- no penalty.
  20. How often do you see a missed pen after a fight over the ball?..
