  1. In the last year I've noticed that "roster" rather than team or squad is starting to slowly creep it's way into football over here.
  2. Undoubtedly the proudest man ever to pull on a Scotland jersey. Who will bite I wonder ?
  3. And hopefully with Euskadi not far behind the Catalans in giving Madrid two fingers.
  4. SSN are saying that Snodgrass is having a medical at West Ham tomorrow. The fee is £10,000,000. The last Scotland international we had at West Ham was Christian Dailly wan't it ? Paul Caddis released by Birmingham.
  5. Doesn't this guy have any family or a social worker looking out for him ? He clearly is mentally ill and needs care and supervision.
  6. Got to give Ryan Fraser his debut in this game.
  7. Both Chelsea's keepers, Courtois and Begovic, have been linked with moves away but of course it seems unlikely that they would sign Gordon to be their number one keeper. Didn't Gordon say that a few years ago when he was unattached he turned down a seven figure insurance settlement if he formally retired ?
  8. One male Scottish Labour MP (she didn't name him but claimed he was still living as of 2005) even stalked her around London for several weeks at one point but it suddenly stopped when she complained to Labour's Chief Whip who to his credit must have put a rocket up whoever was responsible. She did say in her autobiography that the two MP's who always looked out for her in the hard years of 1967-1970 were her friends Gwynfor Evans (who himself received daily abuse from the South Wales Labour MP's) of Plaid Cymru and the independent minded Labour MP for South Ayrshire, Emrys Hughes.
  9. It's aimed at Scotland fans but there is absolutely nothing wrong with fans of other countries coming on here. In fact it makes the debate a lot more interesting - when we played the Republic of Ireland there was some great discussion with the dozen or so Irish fans on here. Livens the place up anyway. Check the relevant SFA pages on twitter and facebook when the game was announced. Plenty of idiots slagging off Canada (when they know nothing at all about them) and predicting that we'll use this game for target practice. The very same idiots no doubt who thought we'd beat Lithuania at home and Slovakia away with ease.
  10. Together with his auld chums Willie Ross, Archie Manuel, George Willis and Willie Hamilton they subjected Winnie Ewing to a disgraceful three years of intense bullying, threats and harassment between 1967 and 1970. This torment of a lone woman will of course not appear in any of the glowing obituaries that will come out tomorrow.
  11. Thought this was going to be a thread about Fermer or DoonTheSlope.
  12. There's such a thing as showing a little bit of respect and courtesy towards your opponents no matter who they are or where they come from. It doesn't hurt and it doesn't cost anything you know. Try it sometime. Do you seriously think we'll chalk up a 6-0 win against Canada ? We won't. What I find cringeworthy is Scotland fans (who should know a lot better) writing off another team despite knowing sod all about them, claiming if they haven't heard of their players then they "must be pish", speculating how many we'll win by and grossly overestimating our currently below average team's chances. That's called stupidity.
  13. Hi hobbes. I think it's great to have a Canadian on here providing a maple leaf's point of view. From this Scotland fan anyway, I am really sorry for the fools who are writing off Canada and claiming that we (Scotland) will win easily. A lot of the stupid comments, on twitter especially, were from dozens of idiots who's football knowledge is confined to the sports pages of the Daily Record (a trashy newspaper for idiots we have over here) and their FIFA 17 console game. Canada's national team and indeed, domestic game has made steady and respectable progress since 2000. I realise it's tough as well for football/soccer over yonder to compete with ice hockey, baseball, American "football" and basketball for participants, funding and spectators. If Lithuania can hold us to a miserable 1-1 draw at Hampden then Canada can easily provide a shock at Easter Road.
  14. Hull have accepted bids from both Burnley and West Ham tonight. It's all up to Snodgrass now which club he joins.
  15. No Scottish teams interested in Stevie May yet ? Think he'd be a good signing for most teams in the Scottish Premiership.
  16. Billy Brown is just another example of what's wrong with Scottish football coaching. A firm "win at all costs" merchant who values lumping the ball up the park to a hopeless target man that can't control the ball, dangerous tackling on opposition players, no patience for players who want to keep the ball and take men on. Likes to bang on about how "(insert player here) widnae have lasted in ma day" - aye well this 2017 ya auld pwick, things have changed. Amazingly (and depressingly) you do still find quite a few fans who find nothing wrong with these these kind of beliefs that have held Scottish football back. Not long after he signed for Celtic a friend of mine spotted Flood in ASDA and asked him for his autograph. Said he was the most shy, quiet and "extremely polite" player he'd ever met. When Flood was a kid at Man City they thought he was going to be a real star as well. Injuries ruined his early career however.
  17. I think he'll bring in Whittaker for right back for both the friendly and the qualifier. Don't think Brown will be back.
  18. Good move for both Christie and the sheep. He'd be as well making it permanent if he does well there in the next few months. Really doubt if he's got a future at Celtic.
  19. Just out of interest is a friendly for our Under 21s against Canada's Under 21s also part of the deal ?
  20. Wow. Fair play to them if true. Last time they got a seven figure fee must have been from Rangers in 2007 for Naismith ?
  21. Will Neil Oliver and his glorious flowing mane be covering the Scots who were sent as slaves to the Caribbean and North America first by Cromwell and then George II ? Curiously not something I was taught about at school. What Oliver is covering is not exactly breaking new ground is it ? There has been plenty written about Scotland's links with the slave trade particularly in the last twenty years or so. I do concede however that it remains a subject that I think many are still a little squeamish about. Personally I find it very interesting. It is a crying shame that the Klan took what was a once powerful Scottish icon, the fiery cross, and turned it into a symbol of hate and oppression. There was a guy who in summer 2015 was doing very interesting walking tours of Glasgow City centre and the city's slave legacy i.e. the buildings which rich Glasgow families built, the families who owned them, how they made their riches out of human misery etc. People might find this e-tour of Glasgow's slave past interesting - https://scottishwriters.wordpress.com/2015/10/12/black-history-month-a-walking-tour-of-glasgows-past/ Greenbank Gardens here in East Renfrewshire was owned by a slave dealer at one point I think.
  22. One of his first official acts has been to stop US funded aid groups from discussing and distributing information about abortion. The bible bashers are delighted.
