Just finished Ripley and enjoyed it. Thought parts in a couple of episodes dragged a bit (the cleaning of the stairs for example) but good overall.

Think I've still only seen one other person mention Slow Horses. That's well worth a watch, decent soundtrack too.

The Talented Mr Ripley is one of my favourite films so looking forward to watching this.

  2. I’m noticing recently that a lot of shows are suffering from second season syndrome! I really enjoyed Vigil when it came out but the second season was abysmal. Likewise I quite enjoyed the first season of Trigger Point but finished the second last night and it was really, really bad. If those second seasons had been pitched as the first there’s no way either of those shows are getting commissioned.

Just finished  watching The Wire. Watched it many years ago. A superb drama. Enjoying watching Ripley at the moment and the guy playing the lead role is very unlikeable so it probably excellent acting.

The Wire is my favourite show by a distance  I've probably watched it through at least 3, maybe 4 times now.  Might be due a another go soon.

    😂

Thanks too @Bobster ! Will give it a watch when back from holiday.

Finished The Gentlemen. Meh. Was a bit better than I thought as I am not a Guy Ritchie fan . Watchable but for me also instantly forgettable.

I thought The Gentlemen started quite well bit soon got a bit boring and think I'd lost track of what was happening by the end.  I'd probably watch a second season if there was one but won't lose any sleep if there isn't.

  5. Watched 3 episodes (of 7) of Baby Reindeer on Netflix last night.  It's based on the true story of a Scottish comedian who was stalked by a woman down in London.  The guy it's based on plays the lead role as a version of himself and it's been  brilliant if very uncomfortable in places so far.  The actress the plays the stalker is unbelievably good in it.  Everything I've read has said episode 4 is one of the most uncomfortable episodes of any TV show in years so looking forward to that at lunch time!

*Alexa, show me an example of someone not reading the post above.....🙄

Pitch inspection at Dens tomorrow morning. If it fails the match will be played at St Johnstone on Wed evening.

Did I read it right that’s final decision on whether the game goes ahead will be made at that inspection tomorrow morning? That makes sense if the pitch isn’t playable however if it is, there’s no guarantee it will be 30 odd hours later given the rain that’s forecast again.

    Has anything really changed though?

Yeaterday, if rangers win all their games, they’ll win the league.

Today, if Rangers win all their games, they’ll win the league.

Yesterday we didn’t have to win all our games. Now we do and in the basis of what we’ve seen this season so far I think it’s unlikely we’ll go to Parkhead and win.

Despite an excellent second half yesterday I’m not convinced we don’t have a fuck up in us somewhere on the run in. We just seem incapable of putting together a 90 minute performance.

    5 wins and it’s ours tho 🤔

    Doesn't look like you'll need 5 wins! 🙄

Glasgow is among the potential hosts of the 2026 Commonwealth Games - but the city is the last resort to hold the troubled edition.

This week the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) said it was "considering multiple proposals" amid continued uncertainty over the event's long-term future.

Last week, Singapore joined Malaysia in ruling out a bid, after the Australian state of Victoria withdrew as host in July because of rising costs.

Should any of the fresh bids from outside the UK not prove viable, there is a back-up concept which would bring a scaled-back Games to Scotland.

Confirmation of Glasgow's offer is expected in the coming days.

The event was held in Glasgow in 2014 and facilities from then - such as the Emirates Arena - would be used again. So, too, would existing accommodation options.

Instead of the 20 sports in Birmingham in 2022, the event would be limited to between 10 and 13 disciplines.

Those efficiencies would mean there would be no public spending, with the £130-150m budget being covered by the CGF and commercial income.

A final decision is expected by the end of May.

There's no way this is being hosted with zero public spending and I'd rather the money went towards fixing the roads and other public services.  Glasgow is in a terrible state at the moment.
