  1. I’m not actually sure he’s that good a player. Not anytime I’ve seen him. But I don’t tend to watch games featuring him very much so maybe he’s another Maradona.
  2. I agree the English media are lacking class in general with their continual mention of Hand of God. However, I thought Lineker’s (assuming that’s who the jug-eared clown is) was heartfelt and touching. Granted it was just a clip of it I saw on Twitter but he seemed to have genuine affection for DM. Said he wanted to applaud his other goal that day but knew if he did he’d be crucified by the fans!
  3. The best by a distance. Not sure how you can say it’s a life wasted who did what he did. Legend.
  4. Ramy, you know what? I agree with you. Well done.
  5. I know, I know, but the wife’s watching it. Anyway, how annoying is the posh Scottish guy’s accent? Things like that don’t normally bother me but it’s sooooo annoying.

I like the idea. He deserves credit for his work.
  7. No offence. I don’t know you but you’re a good contributor on here. But, by jeez, that’s everything I hate about offices. And thank f I now work from home with no wacky colleagues, or in fact anybody I need to talk to. Maybe (definitely) I’m a miserable sod though. 🥳
  8. Hah! The idiots. In doing so, they succeeded in giving diddies like us the opportunity to qualify. Their plan backfired.
  9. I don’t think that works so well for us. Lack of balance. I like (generally) what McGregor and Jack do. And Gilmore will hopefully bring better quality in there. I think McGinn gets punished more when losing the ball in that position at international level.
  10. You can’t play all three in the same team though. McGinn is not effective when he drops back. He plays the advanced midfield role, or Armstrong. Christie and Fraser are fighting for the supporting role. Right now Christie in possession as he’s played well.
  11. I like Griffiths. But can you imagine the outrage if McBurnie fluffed that chance the way he did?
  12. For me, Marshal, O’Donnell, Jack, Christie (till he visibly tired) pass marks. The rest - underperformed.
  13. Thanks. That’s a good effort. Good on Finland. I always think of them as minnows as they were in my youth but they’ve had strong teams recently. And good to see Hungary gradually getting back up there.
  14. Probably been brought up already, but has any other nation achieved (or on the brink of achieving) back-to-back Nations League promotions? Are we, therefore, the most improved team in Europe? Or the best team in Europe? Or the luckiest team in Europe?
  15. Obviously a vaccine will be great. But in some ways I’m dreading normality. Having people coming over to the house again and having to be sociable. Quite anxious about it all.
  16. As very well as Jack played the other night, it was McGregor who was the main man. We missed both today, though I’m a big fan of McLean too. McGinn more effective further forward.
  17. Yeah, I mean, it’s obviously staged. Maybe it’s reading too much into it that it’s a grand Boris/Cummings plan but rather it’s simply his way of having him and his massive ego remain the story.
  18. And nor am I what you think I am! I embrace learning from other nations. I didn’t want a Scottish manager cos I thought a certain mentality was holding us back. I’m glad to be proved wrong on that one. But what in the name of holy fuck can we learn from a commentator?!
  19. Aye, ok, you’re right. Preferring a Scottish commentator for a Scottish international game makes me a claymore-wielding maniac. See, the counter argument to your post would be to point out we should get away from the cringe of thinking the job (any job) could be done better by our big brothers down south, you know, from the big team of these islands, the important one. But I can’t be arsed.
  20. Yes, but to use the famous quote, ”an inarticulate Cockney is the most inarticulate of all.” nb. I think I made that up, actually. If so, I look forward to my entry in Collins Book of Quotations.
  21. That’s really not what he’s saying. Stop trying to pick a fight. It’s international football and seeing things from the perspective of the competing team being commented on is something the viewers from that nation would benefit from. There is nothing twee about that. And there is nothing wrong with what the poster said.
