  1. Not sure your second paragraph really reflects well on the Scotland fans, to be honest. Fucking embarrassing in fact.
  2. Just interested. Why do people constantly capitalise the word "royal" and "royal family"? They are not capped in the dictionary, and even when talking specifically about "our" royal family you don't properly cap these terms, so why the deference from supposedly anti-monarchy posters on a forum?
  3. For what it's worth, I wouldn't have started him tonight. But thought he was very lively, busy. Great touch. Always tires late on. But yeah, thought he was very good.
  4. Christie was good. No idea what match you were at.
  5. What's the easiest way of instigating widespread power cut on Monday? Would be funny.
  6. Not entirely sure what's being claimed here. That those protesting the lunacy are "nationalists"? You could call them republicans, or, more accurately, adherents of reason and normalcy. But nationalists? Presumably the implication being that those in favour of Scottish independence are loudest here. Surely the only nationalism on display is from the overt, bombastic, Union flag-flying , royal-loving mental cases. or maybe I've misread the intention of the quoted post.
  7. Emmerdale by far the most watchable soap. A low bar, but the best of a poor television genre.
  8. Arguably, that's not strictly true. It was a very distinct "Stalinist" regime which departed quite far from the ideology of Marx. It might have had a Marxist face, but it didn't live up to his ideals. Anyway, can't be arsed. Writing this on a phone. Using USSR as an argument against Communism though? What about failed capitalist-driven societies? Could name several hundred.
  9. A "decent" family home costs 500,000?? All right. Ours cost less than half that. I must be raising my family in filth.
  10. Or maybe it was biblical history, looking particularly at The Last Supper.
  11. Or Uk-Icelandic relations, specialising in the Cod Wars.
  12. Nah, think he was doing Classics, specifically Ancient Grease.
  13. Ah, I'll check that out. Cheers. And yeah, the vodka's always a wee bonus!
  14. We really loved Cafe Cossachok in Glasgow and were disappointed when it closed a few months ago. Does anyone know any place in the city (or nearby) that does a decent borscht?
  15. Why is the apostrophe after the 7? Should it not be serving the purpose of replacing the 19?
  16. Thanks Rich. We aren't seasoned travelers. This is a trip of a lifetime for a big birthday. Just been stressed from the start! We'll get it sorted.
  17. Booked with Barrhead Travel but they don't seem that interested. I would have thought they at least should be pressing BA for a suitable solution.
  18. Anyone work in the travel industry or a seasoned traveller who knows their rights? My family and I are in California. On the way out they lost my son's case. We got it back a few days later (damaged) so that was a bad start to the holiday so that's something to claim once we get back. The more pressing problem is BA have now cancelled our Heathrow Glasgow connection on the way back. Travel agent suggested by email we get a train to Newcastle and try and claim back for that! No chance. Not least that's not even the right country! How is that a logical solution. My wife just got a message from BA now saying we're booked on a Gatwick Newcastle flight without speaking to us. That's not suitable at all. Is there any pressure we can put on BA to get us back to Glasgow that same day regardless of what provider they have to book us on? That being the case, does anyone have a reliable and workable phone no for BA? Thanks!
  19. Most of these are quite obviously c****. The one that surprised, and disappointed, me was Law.
  20. I lived in the Black Country for a bit but moved back. I have a son (who has no interest in football so it's a moot point) but if he had been born in England, lived there his formative years, schooled there etc, if he had been an international level footballer, I could hardly tell him to turn his back on everything in his growing-up environment that had made him and pick Scotland over England. I guess everyone is different, but this pish from folk who chose to leave Scotland and then chose to have a family in England then turning round and telling their kids they're Scottish not English doesn't sit easy with me. After how many generations are the kids allowed to be English?
