    I was going to say the same but glad you can take the flak for being "grammar police"! Apparently you're not allowed to have standards in this day and age.

    Apropos of nothing, in my experience, the people who take no pride in their writing and hate people calling it out are the same people who call penalty shootouts a "lottery". No idea why.

    You are the ref. A striker rampages through the middle of the opposition defence. He gets fouled. On the way down he deliberately catches the ball, really angry and in a gesture that demands a free kick is given. You give it.

    Ive never seen this happen but would the laws not dictate the striker should be booked for deliberate handball before the whistle went?

    To be honest, I'd stop getting angry at other posters. From your impression of '80s and '90s tournaments it's obvious you weren't around. Perhaps some humility and avoiding attacking those who were there and know what they're talking about. I was 3 when the '74 campaign happened and wouldn't dream of lecturing others about the feeling of expectation around the country at the time. Cos I'd be talking made-up shite.

      I rarely watch full matches at club level especially in England these days so  I tend to form my judgement from fans forums. I just know what championship clubs fans from  Bristol City(Conway) , Plymouth( Hardie) ,Sunderland(Stewart) said about the competition for Scotland squad places, let's just politely say they don't think their men are far off.

    I stated my opinion that I don't think he'll be able to step up! This is my opinion, based on absolutely nothing but my own judgement. Don't think it's worth anyone getting angry over. Maybe he will, maybe he'll score 31 international goals and I'll look back and be embarrassed. But I don't think so. I think he's decidedly average (above average for the league he's in)

    I've seen Conway a few times on tv. He's very good at that level. He's never an international striker though, in my humble opinion.

    While not totally bullshit, the results are fairly meaningless. There's examples of identical twins giving quite different results. The science just isn't there. Go back just a few generations and you have multiple lineages, each of those with multiple lineages. I would be very wary of parting cash for something like this.
