  1. Since the population of the entire Faroe Islands is 48,000, including only 14,000 in Torshavn, I would very much doubt they would sell 5,500 home tickets. If they did this could make them the best supported team in world football per head of population. It would be the equivalent of Scotland selling 550,000 tickets for a game. I got a ticket but my son didnt but I expect home tickets to be available.
  2. Will there even be paper tickets for this match? The trend seems to be e-tickets - although perhaps the stadium in the Faroes is not set up for this?
  3. Can anyone give a definitive answer on whether we will be allowed to travel? From UK Foreign Office website and Danish government websites tonight I have found the following, "Entry to Denmark - fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated UK residents or those previously infected with COVID-19 can enter Denmark for all purposes, without the need to test or self-isolate." "Travel to the Faroe Islands. All UK resident travellers to the Faroe Islands must have a worthy purpose to enter in line with the Danish government's requirements." "When travelling to the Faroe Islands, you are entering the Kingdom of Denmark. This means that the rules for entering Denmark also apply to the Faroe Islands." The contradiction is clear.
  4. Hi Davy One from Pafos please, if still available. Please forward payment details. Much appreciated
  5. I went to the Visa Centre in Edinburgh on 23 July and got my passport back eight days later. I waited and waited for the visa to arrive then eventually contacted the Visa Centre. I was advised to contact the courier DX. I just discovered the visa is INSIDE the passport. Please tell me I am not the only one.
  6. 10 minutes was all it took. Only problem was with the photo. I took a pic using my phone and printed it on photographic paper. The receptionist said it was too blurred. She helpfully said that they could take a suitable photo in the Visa Centre. £10 later, and the result was just as blurred as the original but strangely was acceptable.
  7. City-Airport taxis. The cost of a 6 seater taxi seems to be the same as a 3 seater for the same journey. It works out cheaper than bus because the bus only goes to Midi Station, then a Metro is needed to get into the centre of town.
  8. Three of us are flying from Edinburgh to Charleroi on Sunday at 18.45 with Ryanair. We have booked a 6-seater taxi to take us to our hotel close to Grand Place. Cost of taxi = 83 euros. We have 3 spare seats, which if we fill means 14 euros each. Anyone interested give me a reply
  9. We are booked for a 4 hour walking trip around Jerusalem on Wednesday at 11am. We are going for a bus at 9am from Tel Aviv bus station.
  10. Just bought my Israel away ticket but couldn't find a link to buy my son's ticket at the same time. I'm not happy that we have to pay £7.50 each for Special Delivery when two tickets could go into the one envelope. Has anyone else had this problem and am I being computer illiterate. as usual?
  11. The Wand is a gadget to deliver local anaesthetic very slowly so that it is almost painless. This is not available on the NHS. I spent several thousand pounds on a Wand unit and it has been sitting unused for years. You need looked after for a while after IV sedation. With RA sedation you are safe to drive a car immediately afterwards. IV tends to give a deeper level of sedation but RA is fine for 95% of nervous patients. So far as I know it is only a minority of dental practices who offer either form of sedation. Weight might be an issue with IV sedation but not with RA. For RA gas to work you have to be able to breathe through your nose.
  12. Inhalation sedation / laughing gas /Relative analgesia is less than £11 per session at NHS prices
  13. It can take time for composite fillings to settle. Indeed amalgam fillings can take time to settle also, but it is more common with composite.. A composite filling is glued into the cavity. As the composite sets it contracts a tiny amount which can set up some stresses within the tooth. This can lead to some tenderness. What you are looking for is that the tooth feels a bit better as each day goes by. If the tooth is beginning to settle, the replacement filling can sometimes be placed over the dressing and thus avoid disturbing the deepest part of the cavity. It does sound hopeful that it is settling. If your dentist has digital xrays, then ask to see them on the computer monitor and ask the dentist to explain what they mean to you. She should point out the decay and the pulp of the tooth where the nerve is. This should help you to feel a bit more confidence in the diagnosis and treatment. "It wasn't sore until she filled it" is not unusual. All I would say is that if the decay was left to spread it would eventually lead to pain. Restoring a small cavity is more likely to be successful than decay that has become more extensive. Best wishes
  14. Why would you think there would be no dentists on TAMB? We don't all follow the rugby. £70 is for a private filling I presume. On the NHS if a filling is replaced within a year it is free. You would just pay for the root treatment and any xrays needed. Your private dentist may do the same - just ask. The dentist probably filled the tooth in the hope that it would settle down without needing root treatment. Unfortunately that hasn't worked. In that situation it is either root treatment or extraction. Antibiotics is only a short term fix. The tooth needs sorted or the problem will come back. Your new dentist is trying her best. Not every treatment is successful, and pain is no reflection on the quality of treatment. Best follow her advice and get the tooth sorted as she suggests.
  15. Hi Davy 2 for me please if available.
  16. We don't get back to Glasgow from Israel until 5.30pm. What's the chance of an evening kick-off?
  17. SSC say they have had no tickets returned, which is unusual. Changing away points from 1 point to 2 points is having the unintended consequence of making harvesting more attractive. This will probably continue in future games. If you don't get your ticket in the initial sale, you've had it.
  18. I'm looking for a ticket too, but as I understand it, every Scotland-section ticket will have the purchaser's name on it which must match the passport of the holder. So I am looking for a ticket and a false passport. It's not going to happen
  19. "We may or may not get in" That is the gamble. For two of us in VIP this is £72-90. Is it worth it for a meaningless friendly? We are in Budapest from Monday to Thursday so the football is only a small part of the trip, albeit the reason for going in the first place. I do agree with Shotts56, that getting into VIP is more likely than 'ordinary' seats in D4 next to the official Scotland fans. The difficulty is guessing how the stewards will react to an 'other' national with a UK passport. Maybe a gamble of £9 per person in D4 is more palatable than the VIP gamble. What we really need is an indication from someone in the know as to how the Hungarians are likely to react to away fans in the home end.
  20. I reached the same stage. The away team on a drop-down list is United Kingdom, so saying I live in England doesn't help. I signed up for a voucher using a Scottish address but might have to change to an Irish address instead. Only problem then would be paying with a Clydesdale Bank card registered to a Scottish address, but not unsurmountable. Might also have to ditch kilt and Scotland top for this one.
  21. Two of us are staying in Vilnius after the game on the Friday then need to be at Kaunus Airport for fight to Edinburgh at 11.55 on Saturday. Anyone else in this situation and any advice or buses planned?
  22. God Save the Queen? Introduction The discussion around how to react to ‘God Save the Queen’ at Wembley touches all Scotland fans who will be there. Options are Sing GSTQ along with our English friends Stand quietly and respectfully Remain seated an silent Boo Treat their anthem the way they treat ours Stay out until GSTQ has been performed This rant is not about whether GSTQ is any longer a suitable anthem for the United Kingdom, never mind Scotland. References to ‘God’ whom many don’t believe in and being ‘reigned over’ by a monarch seem archaic, but that is for another day. In the same vein, I think Flower of Scotland is a brilliant song to sing at football, especially against England, but I find it embarrassing on other occasions. That argument too is for another day. Sing GSTQ In making an options list it is normal to include all choices, even some that are not being considered seriously. I have not sung GSTQ for many years and would not break that taboo at Wembley of all places. Stand quietly and respectfully A number of Scotland fans have commented that if England used ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ or ‘Jerusalem’ as their anthem, there wouldn’t be a problem. These anthems would be respected like the anthem of any other nation. Indeed there was no booing of ‘Jerusalem’ at Hampden during the Commonwealth Games. For many Scotland fans the problem lies with GSTQ. I agree. GSTQ is the National Anthem of the United Kingdom, not the National Anthem of England. The message sent by England using GSTQ is that England and Britain are one and the same. It is this arrogance which so many of us find objectionable and which makes the normal respect given to the opposition’s anthem very difficult to apply in this case. GSTQ is not the National Anthem of England and teams representing England shouldn’t use it. For this reason I will not stand quietly and respectfully while GSTQ is played. Having said that, I must admit to some hypocrisy on my part. I want an independent Scotland. If or when this happens, and Scotland is no longer part of the United Kingdom, GSTQ will not be our anthem. So I don’t want GSTQ to be my anthem but I don’t want England to use it as theirs. Although once Scotland is independent, and England are just the same to us as any other country, GSTQ should be given the same respect as any other anthem. An aside. Although I have republican views and can’t see the point of the Royal Family, I do admire the current Queen. She has performed the role she was born in to with great dignity. Any disrespect shown towards the anthem should not be implied to be criticism of the person of the Queen. Remain seated and silent. This is my second choice option. It shows some mild objection and disrespect without giving offense. The problem with this approach is that the English singing GSTQ is offensive to me. Should I just sit back and be offended without retaliating in some way … such as booing? I can accept that the majority of England fans do not mean to give offense when they sing GSTQ and probably don’t see what our problem is. Perhaps being seated and silent is the mature option. ‘Seated and silent’ is perhaps the cerebral intellectual option – it just won’t wash at Wembley. Wembley is all about huge emotion and acute national pride. Common sense and quiet reflection will not apply. This is why I am thinking about these issues two months before the event, before the emotion and loss of reason kicks in. There will be some England fans, such as Jeremy Corbin, who also have problems with GSTQ, but that is a diversion from our issues. Boo I certainly wouldn’t ask anyone else not to ‘boo’, and I fully understand why many Scots will want to protest in this way. I think their protest is legitimate. How do I show respect to our hosts who are accidentally offending me by singing GSTQ? I don’t know – It could be fun for Scotland fans to sing ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ while the English sing GSTQ. I will probably not boo through GSTQ – but I could change my mind depending on the next option. Treat their anthem the way they treat ours As the away team, our anthem comes first. We could wait to hear how the English treat Flower of Scotland as a guide to how we should treat GSTQ. The problem with this approach is that while the English may have no particular objection to Flower of Scotland, we still have a grievance over GSTQ. If the English boo Flower of Scotland it is likely to be an ‘advance response’ to how the Scots will react to GSTQ. The English booing first will let the Scotland fans off the hook to boo back. By the way The GSTQ issue is not just about Wembley on 11 November. Wembley (and Hampden next June) are unique situations. GSTQ at other times raises different issues – including the complications of a game against Northern Ireland, or being in London on Remembrance Day. Conclusion I intend to exercise a fifth option at Wembley – to duck the issue. I will be in the stadium and sing my heart out to ‘Flower of Scotland’. I will then leave the stand before GSTQ is played and so avoid having to choose any of the other four options. Obviously 10,000 Scotland fans cannot all choose this option at the same time. If my first choice is not possible, my second choice is to sit quietly until GSTQ is ended ... unless emotion takes over, in which case I will boo GSTQ with everybody else.
  23. Thanks Tartan BGS. Euros from the stash already purchased for October will do fine in Kiev Airport. Otherwise it would be a day of four different currencies, now down to just three.
