  1. Right or Wrong - what he did whilst at Bournemouth during Covid times when he was out of contract and refused to play, if your a Bournemouth Fan - Aye he’s a C**t Playing devils advocate here - Ryan Fraser had to look after No.1 It’s a short playing career so he had to be fit/healthy for the next Team he was gonna play for! That was Newcastle, they probably spoke to him in advance and said deal or no deal…… The Scotland incident, aye he was a c**t - from what I recall he was training for Newcastle shortly after pulling oot of a Scotland Squad, will S.Clarke hold that against him? Surely not, not after all this time - life is too short and Scotland players with quality are limited in comparison to the elite Nations! Steve Clarke doesn’t suffer fools gladly from what I can see IMO and he keeps the Team/Squad at arms length from what I gather but if he ( S.Clarke ) wants to cement a Legacy at this Euro’s and the next World Cup then I think his net will be cast far and wide, nobody is discounted = if they improve the Squad or what they have. Then they are brought into the fold 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 If R.Fraser continues this trajectory, then he is on that Plane going to Germany 🇩🇪
  2. Ooft - Ryan Fraser on fire today, 2 goals and an assist 🔥 Sky Sports Soccer Saturday waxing lyrical about him 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I wonder if S.Clarke taking this game in today??
  3. I don’t think KT can say that unfortunately ( I wish he could ) he’s still under contract with Arsenal and they still pay some of KT’s wages whilst at Real Sociedad….. Hopefully he kicks on with Sociedad and stays injury free, has Champions League football to look forward to and the Euro’s Going back to Arteta +Arsenal wouldn’t be good for him IMO
  4. Agreed Tartan Blood, but only if it was for 6 months! McKenna contract up in the summer but going forward not good for Himself or Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  5. A Greg Taylor goal with a lovely volley for Celtic Unlikely to make the next squad if Robertson + Tierney both fit
  6. KT in action later this evening 👌
  7. I agree mariokempes And I actually want Arsenal to falter defensively as a result of how that twat dealt with Kieran Tierney! Blatantly obvious that the Ukrainian isn’t a proper defender and he cost Arsenal several points last season 😉
  8. Kieran Tierney been spoken about by the Gooners and a return to the Emirates 🙄 Not sure if there will be a clause for Arteta to bring him back in January?? But is it better for Scotland he stays in Spain or returns to Arsenal (and as soon as Zinchenko returns KT gets benched) Think KT deserves a thread for Himself ( 100% agree with Big Ramy 1314 ) as he is a Legend and key for Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  9. I agree, there will be opportunities for players to come in! If a player is better than what we have, then surely a manager has to bring them into the fold 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  10. bdgsct - I agree with what you say here…… A big contrast between what Carver + Clarke have to say about Newcastles 4 players (H.Barnes E.Anderson T.Livramento A.Gordon) How I see it, I do think H.Barnes had committed to Scotland for the Qualifiers in Sept/Oct/Nov but his foot/toe injury in August put paid to these games and S.Clarke is remaining tight lipped about the situation and now keeping his cards very close to his chest! And quite rightly so, don’t want Engerland + Southgate stirring it up again. Interestingly, I watched a G.Southgate + K.Trippier interview from back in Sept I think it was and G.Southgate was very diplomatic - spoke about Players being linked to 2 or 3 Countries but was non committal about H.Barnes or E.Anderson. And in a way He and Clarke have to be this way when the press are probing with question after question. They don’t want to give the Players false hope and/or damage the current squad of Players they have at that current time. Back to H.Barnes, we can only hope he comes back from injury soon and gets called up for our March friendlies, he would 100% add to / improve our attacking options. As for E.Anderson I’m not sure we’ll ever know the correct answer for him leaving the Scotland Camp? With him out injured at Newcastle at the moment (back injury I think) but if he was fully fit and on form it would be tough for him to dislodge a Midfielder from our current squad (McGinn McSauce McGregor Gilmour Christie Armstrong McLean Ferguson) Would he be selected for the 23 man squad - Who knows ?? Tino Livramento now back on the bench for Newcastle, with Burns back at LB and Trippier at RB. I personally think he’s committed with England and preying for that call up for the Senior Squad but if he goes cold between now and March there’s a chance Southgate doesn’t call him up and just maybe just maybe we could come in at the 11th hour and turn him. Would he improve our current squad, absolutely!! Whilst we’re on the subject here, A.Gordon as far as I’m aware has never hinted or said anything about switching allegiance? Just the press adding fuel to the fire IMO - Will he be called up for Southgate’s next Squads, I’m thinking No……. If R.Sterling doesn’t even make his Squad and J.Grealish sits on the bench for games, I can’t see A.Gordon being called up for Engerland anytime soon! Is he better than what we’ve got, with players in current form? Probably I’d say but at this moment I don’t think he’s on S.Clarkes radar All we can hope for from our current squad of players - they are all fit, in form and ready for the Euro’s when they come round!!
  11. I concur that English Premiership is superior than Serie A and McGinn Gilmour McTominay all playing against a higher level of player / team…… You can also then say Serie A is superior than the Scottish Premier League and L.Ferguson is playing against better players + teams than C.McGregor, I’m not saying he’s a better player than McGregor or any of the fore-mentioned Scottish Midfielders I mean it’s a dilemma that we don’t often have in Midfield, I just wish we had this dilemma with our current strikers / forwards / attack minded players. But S.Clarke will have interesting thoughts and conundrums around who he fits into his Midfield from B.Gilmour J.McGinn S.McTominay C.McGregor L.Ferguson S.Armstrong R.Christie K.McLean If A.Robertson + K.Tierney are fully fit and firing then I can see S.Clarke starting with the 5-4-1 formation and picking 4 midfield player’s from above will be a headache!! Does B.Gilmour take C.McGregors place in the team and McGregor takes the bench? If it were me, at the moment I’d go with and like to see - McGinn Gilmour Ferguson McTominay but would that work? And how/what shape would they occupy if going with L.Dykes up front
  12. Much chat about our Midfield and the permutations ( good ones ) that S.Clarke will have going into the Euro’s - fingers crossed every single one of them stay fit+healthy and in the form of their life!! Our Centre Backs - Looking at the departure of S.Cooper from Nottingham Forest, I wonder where this leaves S.McKenna? Does McKenna get a second chance or does he move on, currently frozen out of the squad and has been for weeks!! Needs to be playing to guarantee a squad selection and possibly a starting place? John Souttar starting for Rangers this evening is a huge positive ( hoping he stays healthy ) and G.Hanley on his way back for Norwich as well……. Who gets the nod for the 4/5 Centre Backs all being fit and healthy? Doesn’t look like Clarke will cast his net any further than what he’s tried + tested during qualification with G.Hanley J.Souttar K.Tierney S.McKenna R.Porteous L.Cooper and J.Hendry.
  13. Good article, continuing to improve and almost certain to make the Euro Squad 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Not that long ago, Scotland would have built there Midfield around L.Ferguson. Just shows the strength we have in Midfield nowadays!! Barring any injuries you’d imagine the Midfield will consist of - J.McGinn S.McTominay B.Gilmour C.McGregor S.Armstrong K.Maclean L.Ferguson R.Christie
  14. T.Livramento is only filling in at LB due to Newcastle's injury crisis, S.Burn will slot back into that position when he returns! As for England LB position, that belongs to Luke Shaw With L.Shaw now returning to the fold (after injury) he is pretty much a shoe in for a G.Southgate selection along with B.Chilwell who has now racked up a fair few caps for Engerland. As for the RB situation, which is where T.Livramento plays - he’s behind so many players. The list is almost endless with K.Trippier T.Arnold K.Walker R.James & R.Lewis (think he might be left footed though) it will be a big ask to even get a selection and may have to wait several years?
  15. Will be interesting to see how this R.Christie role/position pans out and what it means for Scotland going forward?!? But gives the S.Clarke options just like K.Maclean who is very versatile in several positions. I think R.Fraser has been good for Scotland but part of me thinks S.Clarke knows what he has done and let him down. Hence why his ‘Clarkes’ interest in H.Barnes back in August/ September. Would H.Barnes be an improvement on R.Fraser - I’d say so, by a good stretch If everyone fit and available next March for the Netherlands/ N.Ireland double header then I don’t think we see R.Fraser ( unless he’s setting the heather on fire and in the form of his life ) Somehow, I think we’re more likely to see H.Barnes ahead of R.Fraser imo
  16. N4Footsoldier I think this to be the likely scenario as well……. Tino Livramento will play the waiting game maybe and he’s not selected for England or Scotland in 2024 A.Hickey will be 1st choice LB with N.Patterson as 2nd choice / cover A.Robertson LB and K.Tierney LCB + 4 CB’s from a list of 5/6/7
  17. S.Clarke is loyal but not stupid, back in September ‘Clarke’ has said we’ll look at players if they enhance our current squad/team…… When you say ahead of Livramento, are you implying that Patterson is a better player than Livramento? It remains to be seen if Tino Livramento will commit / switch to Scotland but it looks very unlikely he’ll get into that England Team let alone the Squad!!
  18. Here’s a question ? With the Euro’s pending and reverting back to a 23 Man Squad, does Nathan Patterson make the 23 man squad as things stand? A.Hickey potentially ahead of N.Patterson for a starting slot if both fit & ready but what if T.Livramento enters the fray and listens to his Mum and chooses Scotland and joins S.Clarke + Scotland for our Euro 2024 adventure 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  19. I think you could be right with Livramento & Gordon both being in the next Engerland Squad, providing they keep this current form up! This is a forum for Scotland fans and we are all entitled to our opinions, Livramento would walk straight into our starting XI, as good as Hickey is Livramento imo is superior in many ways…… What annoys me with Scotland & S.Clarke to an extent, is they want to see talent/players almost serve an apprenticeship and graduate through the U21’s (B.Gilmour the only exception due to the 26 man squad criteria) before stepping up to the first XI Tino Livramento should have been on Scotland’s radar well over 18 months ago when S.Clarke continued playing his Favourites ie SOD, I’ve kept a keen eye on how this lad would develop and although he had the setback with his injury. He’s now starting to show what he’s all about just when he was at Southampton! The only thing going against Livramento is Engerland have a plethora of RB’s ahead of him at the moment and at LB they now have Luke Shaw returning who is one of G.Southgates Favourites!! Forget who the preferred LB is at the moment currently injured at Newcastle ( Burn possibly ? ) but if he comes BACK, will Livramento drop back onto the bench?? Curiosity got the better of me and I had a look on the Engerland Forum similar to this and a few of them clambering for Southgate to Cap him before the Jocks get him! The problem is Engerland have so many to choose from
  20. Cometh the Hour 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  21. McBurnie comes off the bench at halftime to try rescue the Blades Will be interesting to see if he gets a sniff
  22. McBurnie 3rd choice ?? Everyone entitled to their view / opinion 👍 S.Clarke gave McBurnie a dozen or so games for Scotland and Zero goals McBurnie has hardly featured for Sheffield Utd this season, his only goal this season a penalty at Old Trafford…… I personally think he’d be a poor option to bring to Germany!! L.Shankland + J.Brown are ahead of him going by S.Clarkes selections of late. I’d rather S.clarke took Youth / U21 player instead of McBurnie
  23. Dykes + Adams are pretty much nailed on for Germany 🇩🇪 The remaining positions for attack minded players is fairly open IMO S.Clarke can’t rate Shankland that much as he’s been limited him to only a few minutes here and there! Jacob Brown has been loyal to S.Clarke and always turns up but after being given the starting role against Norway he had a poor game imo and should have scored a guilt edged chance. I listened to a podcast on the BBC the other day and one pundit mentioned Oli McBurnie 😳 now he should be nowhere near the squad - he’d have to score 10+ goals between now and the end of the season to be even considered and that’s not going to happen! Kevin Nisbet hasn’t been selected recently? I haven’t checked but is this due to injury? Again he’s been limited to game time here and there….. Ryan Christie has been effective and a regular for S.Clarke but not much of a goal threat, but pretty sure he’ll be going to Germany With those names mentioned above, you could argue that maybe a couple of spaces are up for grabs to catch Clarkes eye between now and June next year, but with Clarke being so loyal you would not be surprised if he sticks with what’s he’s got. Just like he did for Euro 2020/21 You ask of any other players on the radar ? I’m sure there is, but is Gemmill willing to select / play young emerging talent and also if Clarke wants to bring youth in?? Harvey Barnes has been mentioned and Clarke remains tight lipped on the situation but if he performs / plays well for Newcastle then I think it’s possible he gets the nod……. Ben Doak not an out + out Striker but looks like he is the real deal and would be an amazing addition imo and well worth taking him to Germany. Tommy Conway at Bristol City is a prospect and if he goes on a scoring run for them, then you never know? Clarke did take him along to the training camp prior to the Norway game in June this year. Ross Stewart now at Southampton, just back from injury showed promise at Sunderland, a goal ever other game which is probably more than any of the names mentioned above but would be a similar type player to Dykes. Again Clarke must have him in his thoughts. Kieron Bowie U21’s another potential prospect but too soon for Germany Dire Mebude U21’s now in Belgium showed promise whilst at Man City before being sold with a buy back clause! Again if he keeps his head down I’m sure we’ll see more of this kid going forward….. Emilio Lawrence U21’s but yet to be given a start under Gemmill, Man City signed him from Everton and is supposedly a wonder kid - one for the future but needs games for Scotland before Engerland come sniffing!! Rory Wilson U21’s a goal scoring machine whilst at Rangers and then Aston Villa come in for him, doing well at Villa supposedly, still only 18 but highly rated and fingers crossed he can be a scoring sensation in the future for 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  24. Wales had their renaissance period when Bale + Ramsey were at their peak !! Currently if the Welsh strongest XI went against Scotland’s strongest XI then simply No However it would be interesting to see from the current Welsh crop that would get into a starting Scotland XI or squad even?? I’ll start with Ben Davies, Neco Williams, Ethan Ampadu, Dan James, Harry Wilson, Brennan Johnson
