  1. I think everyone needs to look at their own circumstances and make a judgement from there. I am going to Prague , a city, and if it was next week I wouldnt go as there are , for me, too many restrictions in place for getting about and doing things . For me, that would not be enjoyable . If I was travelling to a quiet beach resort to simply relax all day and have something to eat at night then I may feel different as I dont think there would be too many restrictions round that. Others will simply not take any chances at all as they feel the risk is not yet worth it. I only booked this bloody trip to Prague as friends from USA were coming on a European River boat cruise and asked us if we could meet them in Prague. I had to tag Prague onto a holiday that was already booked, so now have a Glasgow/Jersey/Luton/Poland/Prague /Edinburgh combo to try and navigate my way round in a pandemic. Meanwhile our friends cruise has been cancelled ! And as a final great big GIRUY, we fly to Prague the day AFTER Scotland play the nations cup game there 🙄
  2. Thats totally understandable, I am just keeping my options open just now. If the break was next week I would not be going.
  3. Nor would I if I hadnt already booked anything but I dont want to be left with a hassle getting back if this goes ahead. This break is 2 months away and anything could have happened by then. If we are able to travel I will. If the government says travel is acceptable to Prague I will go. I have abided by the guidance through all the restrictions , therefore if they say it is acceptable to travel I will. But I will need to ensure I have some way of getting back. There are flights to Edinburgh for 24 quid so I am as well booking something. I will get a refund if they cancel the flight.
  4. 2 weeks ago Wizzair pulled my flight from Luton-Poland in September ( was going to poland for 3 days then travelling to Prague for 3, not football related ) so I binned Poland and rebooked flight direct from Luton to Prague to spend 6 days there instead . Flights were dirt cheap and everything else was already paid for. Jet2 have just cancelled my return flight from Prague, saying they have reduced their flying programme due to Coronavirus . Its going to be chaos I think. I will need to find an alternative flight back, there are now no direct flights to Glasgow. This trip was booked in January. I would not be booking anything at the moment if I didnt already have plans.
  5. Unfortunately they still exist, I know as I was caught out not long ago, and only a few days after completing, and passing, a ‘Cyber attack’ compliance module at work 🙄 The vast majority of dodgy emails usually go direct to my spam and are blatantly obvious, but a couple of weeks ago I received an email from Amazon. It referred to a change that I had actually made on my account only the day before and wanted me to confirm it, it looked completely legit. I stupidly signed into my account using the link they provided and then realised something wasnt quite right. I immediately called my bank and cancelled the card that was saved on my amazon account, changed my amazon password and alerted them, and changed the password on any other accounts with the same password as my Amazon account. In the end no damage has been done but it was a load of hassle that could have been averted if I hadnt been so bloody stupid and just contacted Amazon first. I know you will all be thinking ‘ffs how thick is she’ but some of these emails are pretty professional. Had they not referred to a change I had actually made I would immediately have been suspicious, as it happens it was a random coincidence.
  6. Some pubs in England having to close already due to customers testing positive for Covid. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-53315702
  7. Unfortunately Ramy stumbled into the dark side of the board on his way to Wanky Phrases , followed by his nemesis. Which might explain the ban.
  8. Bloody hell Phart that really is an incredible achievement. Unless you are 7 foot tall I imagine you were a tad overweight which may have posed health risks. Coincidentally I started back exercising as my blood pressure was starting to creep up, I am not overweight but years of unhealthy partying is probably taking its toll. I know this is a thread about the weather but I hope anyone reading this is inspired . With you i mean, no me. I must be only person that is exercising more and putting on weight.. Just think of those big car park puddles as strides, like hurdling ! But if you are struggling come winter due to the weather it is worth looking at a gym. I dont know what options you have near you but some gyms are pretty reasonably priced and they will probably be offering discounts when they re-open . I use puregym , its pretty basic but it provides what I need. You can pay monthly and are not contracted. My husband goes to the spin classes ( which are free with the membership) as he likes a challenge and puts weight on easily if he doesn't exercise, but I just like doing my own thing. I found it quite intimidating the first few times I went but I soon got used to the machines etc. Its worth considering. Dont be expecting to see a room full of healthy fit freaks, there are all shapes and sizes. You are right about the bloody phones. i think I mentioned on here before that I was waiting to get on an exercise bike one night and a girl was hogging a machine, hardly even moving , and phoning for a chinese takeaway ! Anyway, I am wittering on again, I had better get on with my housework .
  9. Cant have been easy lose weight AND motivate yourself to exercise. Though there is no doubt the combination will have the aided the weight loss. It’s good to have some sort of exercise plan to work with. I just get changed , warm up for 5 mins, start running, then warm down for 5 mins when I get back. If I remember 🙄 I started running for the first time when I lived in Jersey. The flat we had was directly across from the promenade that ran right round the bay from St Helier to St Aubins. The promenade has lots of wee shelters dotted along it and when I started running I ran as far as the first shelter then ran back. I did that the first few times I went out ( it took me longer to get changed into my running gear than it took me to run the short distance ) then I ran to the second shelter and back. I built it up and within a few months I had ran right round the bay which was just short of 10k. It was so nice running by the sea, though it was windy in the winter. Everyone just has to do what works for them, but a plan really will focus you more. I doubt I will run outside come this winter, the gyms will probably have reopened by then so will go back there, but I really dont like them. They are soulless places. Like healthy Wetherspoons 😊 Good luck and keep it up .
  10. Well done ! Doesnt matter how slow you run to get from nothing to 10k in less than 2 months is great. I really dont think I could ever get to 10k, I could do that when I was younger but after 23 years of no exercise I have only managed to get back to running and built it up to 5k over the past few months . I am fine with that though, when I was younger I really challenged myself with both the speed and distance I was running, now I am just happy if I manage to motivate myself to actually get out. I do the same run all the time, people ask if i dont get bored, but , like you , I just let my mind wander. I have visions of me striding along like a gazelle, when , in actual fact, when I see my shadow on a sunny day I am barely moving 😁 The feeling you get when you have finished is great though .
  11. Congratulations ! 👏👏👏 🍻 That is great news, he is a wee cracker . If you are having a celebration today I hope you are wearing your nappy too 😁
  12. You are right about the entrenched positions, and it would be foolish to say that the same tribalism doesn't apply to the SNP. The difference being, whether you like her or not , no one can accuse Nicola Sturgeon of shirking from difficult interviews or being unable to take action when someone has breached rules or guidelines. It beggars belief so many people still rally behind Johnson. Hopefully it may be diminishing , you are probably in a better position to witness this being in England, his stock up here couldn't really sink much lower.
  13. Its dry just now. You get scootin up here with a piece of Mrs Lairdys cake. 🏍 🍰
  14. I honestly do not see the point of any interviews whatsoever if he is only going to choose his pals to interview him and make light of any awkward issues. FFS, the guy who has to make major decisions on the country is unable to handle anyone other than his LBC mates, Philip Schofield and Holly Willouby. As I have said a million times before, I am not on social media so perhaps there is a bit more of an uproar than I think there is and people have made up their mind and do feel like me, but I have heard no one mention it. Has it got to the stage that people just shrug their shoulders and say ‘meh, what can you do? ’. Or maybe I am just making more of an issue of it than is required.
  15. I will take your word for it that LBC is normally of decent standard, I dont listen to it at all. I dont mind his Tory pals sucking up to him and much hilarity if the discussion was about his dads performance on I’m A Celebrity or Gogglebox, but to be so dismissive that government guidelines have been disregarded by his father during a pandemic stinks of complete and utter arrogance from all of them. He would command a bit of respect if he had the balls to criticise him, but as usual he just evades the question.
  16. Completely agree. The interviewer couldn’t be further up his arse. This is a 79 yr old man, therefore in a high risk group. His son is the PM , who has ( we are led to believe) been seriously ill in hospital with Covid-19 only weeks ago and his governments advice is to avoid all but essential travel. His father travels to his holiday home, in another country, a country that has banned all flights from the UK , under the banner that letting his holiday home is essential . And this country just rolls over time after time.
  17. Its all such a great laugh isnt it. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/video/2020/jul/03/boris-johnson-repeatedly-refuses-to-comment-on-fathers-trip-to-greece-during-lockdown-video
  18. I only yesterday about Bojo’s dad travelling to Greece via Bulgaria, to avoid the ban on flights from the UK to Greece. He said his trip was ‘essential’ as he has a holiday home he needs to prepare for letting out under the new guidelines. Yet another guy cant go to Greece to his grand fathers funeral as it is classed as non essential . Is this true and if so why has has more not been made of it ?
  19. I dont watch the news much but have caught The Nine a couple of times recently. Both times they have had a guy from Edinburgh Airport on, seething about the flight situation . He doesn't even try to hide his dislike for the SG. Last night he was saying airlines would pull out of Scotland blah blah blah, threatening all sorts of stuff. He is interested in the airports and the economy, which is fine as of course it is important, but that is all he seems interested in.
  20. Only a moron would travel to England for a beer at this time and only a rag like the Record would try to make a story from it. The same folk that supposedly were going to travel to England to stock up on alcohol to save 5p when the minimum price came into force.
  21. 🤔 this might prove a tad tricky for me. 5 mins 30 secs is my maximum attention span. Though I suppose I could rustle up a jive bunny megamix . These are the only songs I have on my spotify over 7 mins.
  22. I havent seen it but it is next on my list as it has been recommended by a few people I know. One of them recommended Designated Survivor right enough which is complete and utter shite so there is no guarantee.
  23. You are making me feel guilty, I have been making the rain an excuse not to go. That said, during that really warm spell it was as off putting to run in the heat as it is in the rain. I was out on Wednesday and there is an old bridge on the cycle track where i run, a group of boys in their early teens were hanging around and one of them was completely blocking the path with his bike. As I slooooowly approached , one of the other boys said to him, ‘ move your bike and let the lassie by’. If I had any puff left in me I would have kissed him . To be called a ‘lassie ‘ by a 13 yr old made my night.
