  1. The last one on your list, it's so obvious that's what it is but I can't get it to accept that as ananswer.
  2. You really don't bring much to the debate do you? Your wee sabbatical after you were called out for making things up was a welcome respite.

    Berlin

There's an IBIS budget just north of Alexanderplatz, 10 minute walk max from the station. Stayed there in January, perfectly serviceable, good location.
  4. Well I doubt they had a pint and a laugh about it in the bar afterwards and I'd say he crossed the line by some distance but it is the case that players say all sorts of things on the pitch that are solely designed to wind up opponents. It may indeen make him a vile khunt, but it doesn't make him a bigot.
  5. The generally held view is that it was something to do with his son who had died not long before. That's undoubtedly a horrible thing to say but has to be taken in the context of the horrible things that thousands of players say on the pitch to put off opponents.
  6. Sorry champ but I had a full Scottish education from primary, through secondary and onto degree level.
  7. Who knows but it's telling that in the 21 years since he died, no-one's come out with anything to prove that he was.
  8. So not all bad news in 2016 then. Apologies to any family and friends of AA Gill that may have logged into the TAMB and may have read this.
  9. And perversely are also the first to accuse nationalists of being anti-English xenophobes.
  10. And this one from 2015 in a thread about Mhairi Black immediately after the GE. Mind you, he does describe her as a novelty candidate that will be lucky to survive the next election, he might want to reconsider that.
  11. That's the other side of the coin, that Rangers would not have had the support they had and so would have been a lot less successful than they've been. The view about Rangers is that while they'd always positioned themselves as a Scottish establishment club, which meant Presbyterianism, the sectarianism only came in when Harland and Wolff set up a shipyard in Govan, which meant that there was an influx of Ulster Protestants to work in the yard who adopted their local club. There's no real reason to think that Queens Park would have developed in the same way.
  12. I've got tremendous sympathy for the victims families but this was always going to be the outcome and you can't help but think that they've been badly advised - and possibly used - by their legal representatives, especially in this case, where their intention to seek a private prosecution effectively scuppered the inquiry.
  13. There's a strong argument to be put that had Queen's Park not remained as an amateur club and had turned pro at the same time as all other clubs then they would have been the biggest club in Scotland. They had been the most successful club up until that point, they had the largest ground and were the Scottlsh establishment club.
  14. Anyone who bases their politics on which football team they support shouldn't be allowed to vote. Anyone who supports a team based on their politics shouldn't be allowed to watch football.

    Basel

I'd second that. Freiburg is much better - and cheaper - than Basel.
  16. In England, certainly for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City who have been pretty much cever present in the Champions League, there is very little interest in the group stages of the Champions League. That's a case of familiarity breeds contempt. For those clubs, the "big European nights" that people get excited about and where it's next to impossible to get tickets are the quarters and semi-finals. It's the League that is the most important competition, everything else - including the CL - comes second to that.
  17. To be fair to him, I don't think he's making any excuses, he's put his hands up and has accepted responsibility.
  18. You should be ashamed of yourself. Imagine Lulu or one of her family logged into the TAMB and read that comment. Delete your account.

  20. It will be interesting to see how representative of the public of Maidenhead the audience is tonight especially given the recent revelations about the Audience Producer's own views and affiliations. On one hand Maidenhead is a complete Tory town, obviously the sitting MP is now the PM and she carries a large personal vote. I'd need to check this but I think every local councillor is a Tory, if that's not the case it'll only be a handful that are either Lib Dems or independents. Obviously there is no real support locally for Labour but neither is there much support for UKIP. The Lib Dems are generally a poor second place but have had control of the council in the recent past. There was a very narrow vote - 52/48 - in favour of Remain. The reason for this is pretty obvious, the town is relatively prosperous - although there is a food bank - and a lot of the population are either fairly well off or work in well paid jobs, a lot of people commute to London. While there's a reasonably large immigrant community, mainly South Asian although quite a few Poles in recent years, there's certainly no tension between the communities. That said, there are a couple of people I'll be looking out for in the audience tonight and if I see them I'll know it's rigged.
