  1. Not sure I follow your logic there. Hickey could play right back and Livramento right midfield. As was said, you can never have too many good players.
  2. Apparently Livramento can play further forward, also.
  3. Archie Gray probably has the greatest Scottish pedigree out of any player out there in terms of family achievements. He looks a tremendous talent. The prospect of Gray and Gilmour in the same midfield is mouth watering, but it doesn’t look like it is going to happen.
  4. Footballers are grown men and know all about competition for places. I don’t think for a minute Clarke would let players walk into a side. If they show in training that they are clearly better than the competition then that is a different matter. Players can accept that. It’s a bit like when people complain when a 26 year old that always turns up for squads is overlooked for an 18 year old who is better and goes straight into the first 11 in his first squad. Harsh, but that’s the nature of the game.
  5. I still hope he can do something. Imagine that pace and power with an end product.
  6. Dykes takes half chances, he’s bailed us out on numerous occasions. McTominay would be fine as a second striker but not as a lead striker. He doesn’t have the hips for it with his back to goal.
  7. Injury mainly, but he was a midfielder.
  8. McCoist was more than a poacher. Very strong on the ball, great with his back to goal and could link up play. Scored a fair few from outside the box as well.
  9. I don’t think anyone is saying Wilson is ready yet. I’m fairly sure Villa want him to develop physically over the season as he gets older and then put him on loan next season. I’d certainly put Doak in, as it’s a long way till June for a 17 year old and he’ll have improved by then. He’s already got the physique to play. He could make an impact as a sub at the Euros even though he’ll get way better in the years to come.
  10. It’s hard to know when a player is coming through what they will be like, but I don’t remember anyone with a record as good as Rory Wilson, including McCoist and Johnston at the same age level. Early days at 17 and he’s not filled out yet, but I’ve got very high hopes for him.
  11. Jacob Brown looked good as a main striker, decent touch and a bit of pace. I thought Kenny McLean was our best player on the night, brave on the ball with an assured touch. We were sloppy at set pieces, for and against. That would kill us at a finals.
  12. Lowry needs to fill out a bit more, which will help him beat 5 players. I agree though, a simple lay off is often the best option. I do think he’ll make the full team. He wasn’t at his best last night but he has an ability to inoculate defences that is rare in football.
  13. I think the OP squad is more or less correct, with Doak replacing Jacob Brown from the current set up. I would like to see Gauld given a chance, certainly over Anderson. I’m very confident Gauld would have controlled and scored from that through ball McGinn played to Christie versus Spain. The thing with Gauld is he’s physically much stronger than when he was last in Scotland. His stats are off the charts in the MLS. He might have a chance if he moves to Europe in January. I would imagine Max Johnston will also be in with a shout.
  14. I hear what you’re saying but I’ve been extremely impressed with him in midfield. I’m not convinced he’s quite tall enough to be a really top tier centre back (in a back four anyway), but his physicality could be great in midfield. He looks completely unhurried in that position which is always a good sign - strolls it.
  15. Well done Scotland, well deserved. A bit annoying it didn’t happen on Friday but it will pass.
  16. I think it was 3-5-1-1 with Doak behind Bowie up front.
  17. That seems odd, unless he was catching a flight.
  18. I was a bit worried about King, but I now think he’ll be a top midfield player. He really makes the game look easy. He needs to keep playing in central midfield.
  19. The keeper deliberately left one on him and should have been a red card.
  20. but why aren’t we seeing the usual view of it? The camera usually spins around all over the place to prove its case, but here we are looking at grainy image from miles away.
  21. At the moment the ball was kicked, I don’t believe Hendry was offside. They only show some zoomed out view that reveals nothing.
  22. It’s a straight red and a penalty. This wound me up more than the offside shithousery.
  23. Re: Jack Hendry, I think he’s a cracking player and has played a huge part in the up turn of our performances. He is lightning fast, great in the air and has a bit of fire about him. He can bring the ball out from the back and can also ping a pass. Brilliant for us.
  24. I think we are pretty ineffective when we have a conventional centre half instead of Tierney in a 3, because in that role he carries the ball forward. I think Hickey could do that job and he’s a wee bit taller than Tierney. Personally I’d prefer 4-5-1 with Ferguson in midfield.
