I saw most of the 2nd half, Mebude played wide right, he looks a unit who has a great touch, close control & plenty skill.  Skipped past 3 players in the first half to score his goal.

The commentary said there's 'no doubt he is player' from what i saw i would agree.

He seems to have gone up a level at City. He was rated at Rangers but not at the same level as Lowry, King, etc. Obviously made the right choice to leave and unlike his brother Dapo, Dire seems to have the right attitude. Hopefully keeps developing and we could have some pace on the wings.

Dire was was wanted by Spurs, Brugge and PSV in the summer, so he seems we'll rated. PSV at the minute are wonderkid central and are constantly signing top rated young players.

Only a stats site but who scored gave him an above average rating for a player in Serie A.

Interesting to see how he does.

He had a good game and could've scored. After a first start like that, I'll be shocked if he doesn't begin to play more.

Hope so. He was good today

He had a big test aswell. Van Veen is a very tough ST to deal with. Bit of pace, strength, height and a lot of skill.

I thought Van Veen gave him a bit of a hard time but King grew well into the game and had a decent game. I was surprised how good in the air King was. He did leap and strength training outwith the club before pre season began. It seems to have massive worked, he has came on leaps and bounds physically since the summer. It also shows how much he his working towards himself and the future.

There are quite a few games before the World Cup break. So he should get a lot of first team games with Goldson and Souttar out until atleast the end of the World Cup.

Sands is there but it seems King has shot passed him.

Well at least there is King and Lowry who would have been eligible, as far as I know. I quite like the look of Ure but time will tell. Only saw the Doak moments via Twitter.

Devine is eligible still aswell. McKinnon,  Weston and others out on loan are also eligible.

Bar McAussland and Fraser the Rangers team is fairly young and has quite a few 2006s. Outside of Doak it's an older Liverpool side. Stuff like that needs to be taken into consideration.

Doak could be a Gareth Bale type player.  Also could see a first team debut for him if he keeps his form up in the not too distant future.

Robbie Ure has talent too and scores goals. Big and pacey.

If Liverpool keep wracking up the injures, he might be there sooner than most think.

Ure I'm not sure about. He has decent technique but will take a poor touch at times. He has the build so there is every chance, but he just reminds me of another Rudden and Hardie. Decent at youth level but never making it at Rangers.

Just more news on talented Scottish RBs.

Newcastle want to offer 4m for Ashby even though he is out of contract next summer, whatever way they are pushing, Leeds also in the chase, Newcastle see him being developed into the direct replacement for Trippier who they want him mentoring now, West Ham still desperate to keep him.

Devine has signed a new long term contract with Rangers. And Arsenal and Leeds are pushing for 15 year old Rangers RB Whylie.

Van Dijk has been impressed with Ramsey since getting back from injury.

English clubs can't sign pre contracts with players based in England. If they are under a certain age they also have to pay large compensation (in the millions)

Possibly the hardest group since the World Cup 2014 qualifiers. Exactly the pot 1 and pot 3 sides I didn't want; Georgia are an improving side who we've struggled against in the past (and who now feature Napoli's outstanding Kvaratskhelia) and Cyprus, another tricky team who we've found hard to beat in the recent past.

Thank fuck for the playoffs, they might actually be easier! 😂

Yeah outside of drawing Turkey or Greece in Pot 3 it's the worst draw we could've got. Even then Georgia are an improving side with a top tier winger.

  8. King came on early in the second half for Rangers and had a solid game. He played a peach of a pass to Tav in the build up for Rangers 4th.

It seems King has went ahead of Sands and became 3rd choice CB now. Hopefully he keeps developing and ousts Goldson next season.

Maybe his international debut has given him a huge confidence boost. As someone else on here said, I wouldn't mind him moving to Serie A by the start of next season. He'll need to start playing at a higher level soon if he's going to continue to improve.

I really hope he doesn't end up at Celtic or Rangers (no chance of that lol). Going away from the UK and learning a different style would be great for him. That game against Ukraine will have definitely got him on the radar of a few clubs.

Did McGregor not follow a similar early career path? I'm dragging this from the depths of my memory but I'm sure I recall some early loans followed by a few years of benchwarming before he broke through at Rangers?

Similar but McGregor had more successful loans at 23/24. McCrorie has sat in the stands at the same age.

I honestly don't know why McCrorie hasn't been out on loan or just our straight out number 2. When we had that covid outbreak last season, he started in Europe and against Celtic keeping 2 clean sheets and playing well. Then he was never seen again.

He's clearly rated by both Rangers and Scotland but unless he has been promised to be number 1, it seems a strange career decision to stay with Rangers.

I hope it works out and he becomes Rangers and Scotland number 1 but at the minute I don't see it working that way.

  11. 7 hours ago, Tartan blood said:

I think you're right, but I'm sure he became a Rangers regular long before he was 24. The age McRorie is now. He'll be 25 when he "takes over" next season. Yes, goalies tend to progress at a different rate but 25 is really pushing it. He should be an established number 1 somewhere by then.

McGregor started breaking in at mid 24 but was always dropped by PLG for Letzi when he was fit. Once PLG went he became number 1. That was roughly when he turned 25.

Leon King played well against one of Europe’s best teams. Would be very happy to see him in the November friendly squad

He was solid. Passing looked a lot better than it did under Gemmell against NI u21.

I said at the last squad I'd have King in the squad as a 6th choice CB. No need for him to play but he will learn a lot playing and training with top players. Also integrates him early into the squad and get used to everything and everyone.

He's going to be a top player. Because he's been talked about for so long. People forget King's only 18. King was one of Rangers only bright lights today.

King has been rated the best prospect at Ibrox since he was a kid. Rated higher than Gilmour and Patterson, which says a lot.

    My 5/6 CBs would be

McKenna, Hendry, Porteous, King, Tierney. Then 1/2 of Hanley, Souttar, Cooper, Kingsley.

McBurnie is welcome back in the squad if his form deserves it. Right now, he would make my 25. Let's hope he keeps it up.

Hopefully this last incident has been the thing that's finally screwed his nut. If he keeps it up, then he might play his way back into contention.

Thought Ramsey may struggle to get in at Liverpool because of trent-alexander but he has been awful again so far for Liverpool.

Tom Mcintyre on the score sheet for Reading.

Sounds like Tierney did well off the bench for Arsenal.

Kopp was talking him up recently, saying he's training well and will go to play for the u23s to get match fitness. He's had no preseason and a couple of injuries. I doubt Ramsey is seen until after the World Cup. I can see him starting the FA Cup game in January.

My biggest frustration with Scotland/SFA is the u21s. We are coached terribly.

We are just constantly playing long balls from GK and our CBs.

We've got good technical players, we don't need to be playing this way. It's the managers choice and it results in poor displays from good young players.

Gemmell really needs to go and has needed to go for 4/5 years. The problem is the SFA would just hire another archaic dinosaur.

  16. Rangers u19 currently 2 nil up at halftime against Napoli u19s.

Outplaying them and RB Harkness has been good. 2 Assists so far.

Ure has scored one and hit the bar.

Technically competing well at this level. Outplaying Napoli and unlucky not to atleast draw with Ajax last week.

Lovelace, McAussland, Niso and Lindsay are the non Scots. So 7 Scots competing Technically against that level of opponent is very good.

Devine, Lowry and King would also still be eligible to play, if made available for it.

  17. 5 hours ago, er yir macaroon said:

Doak’s goal v Napoli. He is uncannily like Middleton when running with the ball. I had high hopes for Middleton who has not yet become as good as I hoped. Hopefully Doak can do it.

It's the low centre of gravity. He has that powerful running gait, where you can just power past people.

Middleton might still make it. I doubt he'll be a regular starter but we'll eventually transition back to 4 atb and will need wide players. He has the potential to be a decent player,  he just needs to find a manager who will help him get it all together.

King seems to be the 1 positive from a bad night for Rangers.

He was. Came in out of position and played decent.

I really wish we just let Goldson go in the summer. King is more than good enough to be a starter. I can honestly see King being another Patterson and leaving for good money before he becomes a starter at Rangers. He's been talked about that long it's crazy to think he's still only 18

Physically he has taken a step up this summer and looks far stronger. Like Scotland did with Gilmour and Patterson, I'd have him called up to the main squad. Not to play but just to be in training and getting used to the squad. Like Patterson, it's clear King will be a star.

Rangers youth lost 2-1 away to Ajax, they also missed a Pen. And apparently should and could have won.

Liverpool youth are winning 1-0 at Half time against Napoli with Doak scoring the goal. Qansah eligible for Scotland also playing at CB.

We hit the bar 3 times. Should have gotten atleast a draw. However at this level it isn't about results and is about performances. We played well and competed

Rangers u19s went toe to toe with one of the best youth teams in the world and put in an impressive performance.

Harness at RB and Fraser at LB were great.

I would also like to have seen this given his start to the season with Man City's development squad

He is eligible for England and Nigeria aswell so we need to be careful.  Don't want to lose a very promising youngster.

I seen Dapo Mebude has joined kV Oostende. That's the side Hendry went to from Celtic. Hopefully this move does the same for Dapo. There is a good footballer there, just needs to find the right place and develop.

Yes of course. Fans should look at what McBurnie has shown he cannot fo at international level - score. His off-field antics too ate not becoming of someone in our squad. He had his chances and blew them. If he was a goalscoring machine for us I would perhaps be more accommodating but he is not. Picking him would be a bog syep backwards.

I mean just over a year ago nearly everyone was wanting Griffiths back in the squad. I'd argue he's as big a scumbag as McBurnie. We also had a CB who caved in a cooks scull with a baseball bat.

I'm not saying we should give McBurnie a call up (far from it). Just saying we had 2 scumbags in our squads just over a year ago.

  22. Scott Wright had a great game against County.  He was probably MOTM.

Leon King came on at half time and did well. Technically he is amazing and will be a star. He seems to have done a lot of work on himself physically this summer. He seems a lot stronger and his leap of the ground has improved.

Elliot Anderson came on against Wolves and went very close to scoring. I can see England going all in to try and get him to switch to England.
