  1. I'm sure that's true for some but on the other hand the Israelis have gone out of their way to get Tory and Labour politicians on side so it would suggest some influence.
  2. I think the policy of both Labour and Tories has encouraged Israeli right wingers to think they can get away with anything.
  3. Lisa Nandy giving a slightly less impressive performance. Blaming Tories and SNP but not explaining why so many of her MPs would have rebelled against her own leader, not explaining why Labour has taken so long to call for an immediate ceasefire, not explaining why their amendment was so much better and would bring the House together when it so evidently did not.
  4. Just seen Flynn on Channel 4 News with K GM. Thought he got the balance right.
  5. Hoyle:s the worst speaker in my lifetime by a long, long way. If there's any truth in the charge that he's been got at by Labour leadership he should be sacked, just shows the corruption of UK politics. SNP just need to be careful they're not seen as playing politics on such a critical issue as no doubt their opponents will spin it. The SNP are the only ones who've been consistent on this from the start.
  6. Not sure whether this is football or news thread: 'Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe says his "preference" is to build a new stadium for the club that can also "serve the north of England". United have played at Old Trafford since 1910, but Ratcliffe acknowledged it had become "tired and in need of refurbishment". "It's about time someone built a national stadium in the north of England," said the British billionaire. Ratcliffe added the potential project could be a "catalyst for regeneration" in south Manchester and would therefore warrant a "conversation" with the government about using taxpayers' money' So one of the richest clubs in the world, owned by richest man in Britain wants taxpayers to subside his vanity project. Can't see the news going down well round Grangemouth.
  7. I used to like him but have really gone off him in the last few years
  8. Totally agree with you there. Fantastic player.
  9. Top story on BBC website at present: Prince William has called for an "end to the fighting as soon as possible", in a strongly worded intervention on the Israel-Gaza conflict. Wow! Literally who cares. And what exactly will his 'strongly worded intervention' achieve?
  10. Looks like Labour are now going to back the SNP motion. Labour's unconditional support for Israel has cost innocent lives. Their labelling of any criticism of Israel as anti semitic has helped enable Netanyahu and the right wingers in his Government.
  11. As far as education is concerned it is a big issue. I'd be very happy if they just got banned. They are toxic
  12. If he leaves politics, he can forget about being a stand up comic!
  13. Got to keep the shareholders happy. Sod the rest of us.
  14. Bit early. I thought those headlines were reserved for 1 April!
  15. You're probably right. BBC did a good job promoting UKIP in the past.
  16. Labour will not doubt secure a few votes if they make a big show about tackling anti-Semitism but given the appalling reports and pictures coming out of Gaza and the West Bank they possibly stand to lose more, and not just amongst Muslim voters.
  17. I'm down visiting family in England. Express headline about mob chanting pro-Palestinian slogans outside Tobias Ellwood's house, every other paper about Labour withdrawing their backing for by election candidates or death of Steve Wright.
  18. Supermarket paper stands are basically billboards for Unionism, bash the SNP, lurid headline, truth distorted, no apology, just a lingering image in the customers mind that SNP are incompetent or rotten.
  19. Of course, Jewish people themselves may be split on definitions of anti-Semitism!
  20. I'm surprised that no one has had a go at him and accused him of being a hypocrite for flying there!
  21. I've got no wish to go to any of those places but plenty of people do. I guess the temperature will be decent this time of year. Some people are just going to criticise Humza whatever.
  22. Iirc it was also reported that Egyptian intelligence had warned the Israelis and Netanyahu personally that a large attack was coming from Gaza.
  23. Netanyahu, wanting an excuse for ethnic cleansing? Hamas, wanting Israel to retaliate disproportionately and get their mates to wipe Israel of the map?
  24. Mention of abolishing parking charges at hospitals is one of the differences between England and Scotland. I was chatting to a friend who's son is a Junior Doctor in London, has to pay for parking every single day. I didn't ask how much it cost him each year but would imagine it's several hundred pounds.
