Anyone on here defending N Ireland fans is NOT a Scottish fan….they are vile hate ridden people whose sole purpose is to perpetuate out dated sectarian garbage that has no place in present day society-end of
I spent a year at Queen's Uni in Belfast and had friends who were Unionists and friends who were Republicans but having witnessed the display last night I can understand why Catholics/Republicans may feel they don't want to play for them.

My annoyance is we play friendlies and never try anything - the sum total of our experimentation last night was taking a bloke on who's doing mint in Serie A and giving Shankland 15 minutes.
Patterson was having a honker but understandably wanted to keep him on - why not play him right wing second half and have a right back behind him? Try the same with Robertson and Tierney next friendlies (and hopefully Hickey back) then the wide problem is fixed for 4-5-1 as an option.
Instead we had 5 center midfielders just clogging up space last night.
Why not chuck someone in from the u21s and all? If they're shit nothing lost but if they have a good game it might help them break through at their club.

The final 23 man squad has to be confirmed on 8th June, the day after we play Finland.
Please not four goalies!

Steve Clarke & John Carver saying publicly they know their squad and there’s maybe 1 place to be decided prior to 4 warm up games with a chunk of the season left doesn’t help player motivation or enthusiasms for these games.
The squad is playing like a bunch of guys who know they are on the plane to Germany regardless of form or performance.
That thought crossed my mind about 30 minutes in. It's the flip side of club mentality, loyalty and togetherness. It might yet cost us.

Lots of talk about us needing wingers all of a sudden but when Robertson and Hickey are fit and on the pitch they do the job perfectly of providing offensive threat from the flanks, and actually are our main attacking weapon. Unfortunate they were (mostly) absent tonight and it showed.
Patterson was pish tonight but Ralston is never going to make an international standard player so its not really an option to start him.
Also we need central defenders to be able to carry the ball out from the back. KT obviously does this exceptionally well but the others are more limited and there's too many square passes. Souttar at least offers the possibility of a ball forward.
If Patterson's confidence is shot, if Hickey's still not match fit that leaves us with Ralston at RB and I'd be ok with that. Beyond that Max Johnston, though I'm gutted that Archie Gray appears firmly in the England camp.

Unless at club comes in for his services or he resigns himself (which I can’t see) then he isn’t going anywhere. He’s on a contract till 2026.
Depends on performances at the Euros. If we did really badly then he might just resign. He will be remembered fondly for restoring some pride in the national team and getting us to a couple of tournaments after such a long absence but if we got absolutely humiliated then I doubt he'd want to stay on.

A game like this would give us no insight as how to play against Hungary and Switzerland. We should be playing against nations of a similar standard. To be fair though this game was probably arranged before we qualified and before the draw was made
Looking for some small crumbs of comfort after tonight...At least the teams we're playing in the Euros will be less defensive than N.Ireland and hopefully more open matches will suit us.

Whole team seemed edgy for minute one, even the atmosphere was dreadful..but they gave us nothing to cheer about.
Would go as far to say it's the worst performance I've seen given the talent we have. Far too passive, slow build up. We had all the ball and did nothing with it.
Ironically defensively, where I've been more concerned, they mopped everything up bar the goal. Midfield to front was too slow.
Just one to forget about and move on. Maybe a good thing to shake some life into them.
Let's hope so. Atmosphere was really flat from the start, particularly in contrast to the British Irish fans. Hardly anyone around me singing, shouting, clapping, not a saltire or Lion Rampant in sight. Why didn't they just stay at home and watch it on Tele?

When he first broke through he was superb in Europe with Rangers but clearly something has happened to him.
Everton and Dyche. His confidence is absolutely shot at the minute. Scared to bomb on and not make mistakes but nonetheless ends up making them. I feel sorry for the lad.

Why isn't the young boys like Doig, Doak etc in this squad, Wales playing teens all the time yet we are very relunctant. Doak is different to everyone else we have so why not have him in incase we need an impact sub, it's the same for Fraser!
Well simple one for Doak. He's injured.

Correct
Firstly - McNeil's tweet gives a link to an article by The Times which going on previous form makes it highly dubious
Secondly - It says it will be after the GE (when it's too late)
I'm presuming the thinking is that the SNP will do badly in the GE because of low voter turnout out/apathy. I really cannot see any logic in Indy supporters voting for a Unionist Party as it will be taken as wanting to remain part of the UK. It's not like any SNP manifesto is going to become law. So, if you want a protest vote, surely the time to do that is at a Holyrood election?

Also, I would guess that actually qualifying for tournaments and experiencing finals against the best sides are far more beneficial than just turning up for a kick about in the qualifiers
I think that's been said about England a few times at non-senior level. No substitute for tournament experience.

Yellow doesn’t work at all. Pish decision.
and the blue shorts with the yellow even worse. Should be white shorts.
Can’t decide if the blue is wrong or it just looks that way cos of the yellow.A shame we won’t look so good at the big party……. But I won’t care how they look if they play well.
Quite liked the yellow stripes that the women had recently, bit of a Sweden vibe but otherwise I agree.

The big things we learned last night are that Patterson has not improved at all and Gilmour is critical for us holding our shape
Given the amount of time he's been given at Everton it's no surprise that Patterson hasn't improved but, if Hickey's injured, we haven't got anyone better than him, unless we call up Livramento. Iirc he hasnt let us down before. He's young, he's a defender and almost inevitably he'll make mistakes.

Getting quite drawn out for an imminent appointment. Any update?

I'd rather get the harsh lesson in a friendly now rather when the tournament begins. Hopefully we can learn. Reminds me of the rugby, potentially very good but not taking chances and all the good work being undone by stupid errors.

Realistically most young players from Scotland's too flight aren't going to go straight into the EPL. Moving to a decent Championship side is probably the way to go as hopefully they'll be more game time

Ones like Conway, Bowie, Barron, King could be close in two to four year's time.
I'd agree with Johnston. If we're not going to get Livramento I think he's next in line at right back. I also quite like the look of Mellon, I don't know how he's done at Dundee but I thought he looked quite lively when he came on and nearly set up McKinnon late on.

Probably the last thing I'll post about last night but one of the things that was so disappointing was following on from the Dutch game. All the noises from the camp after that defeat were encouraging, players raging, angry that they'd got beat. Supporter looking for a reaction, players up for it and then...
