  1. I like holding a teabag up to my nose and taking a long, deep, lingering smell of the teaey goodness before putting it in the cup. Anybody else got any odd habits?
  2. As Carmichael isn't standing down it has to be a possibility now.
  3. My company is kind enough to give us the whole afternoon off for our team Christmas lunch. Probably because they don't want us coming back pissed and noising up everyone else
  4. 2 minutes scheduled flight - though it only takes a minute with a tailwind!
  5. If Renfrew blue is right the 'true me' clearly needs to get more sleep, as that's all I seem to do after a few drinks these days.
  6. Much as I wouldn't cross the road to see the royal family, I fail to see what prince Andrews cock has to do with the forth road bridge.
  7. I always said Seb Coe gobbles donkeys. He gets an honourable mention for some dodgy dealings in Andrew Jennings The Beautiful Game - well worth a read - but I can't see the British press ever pushing too hard on the man who brought the Olympics to London.
  8. The other thing to note is most currencies are kept afloat through an alchemical mix of bullshit and unicorns. The GBP for example is horrendously leveraged. It doesn't take many folk trying to get their money out the banks for the confidence trick that is currency to be exposed.
  9. The difference between Slovakia and Scotland is that Scotland and the rUK are pretty closely matched economically. Slovakia and Czech Republic were not. However any sane analysis of independence would point towards a Scottish currency in the mid to long term. In which case even the relative similarity of Scottish and rUK economies might not be enough to protect the pound from speculators should they get it in their heads that a new Scottish currency was imminent.
  10. I don't think the SNP factor had a major bearing in the GE in England. Milliband's uselessness and the collapse of the Lib Dems more than adequately explains David Cameron's majority - which isn't actually that big.
  11. It's common in telesales too. You don't want people to take the piss (I have worked in a Glasgow City Council office where the staff were all standing around with their coats on a quarter of an hour before clocking off time), but a little bit of grace to allow for late buses, etc would be factored in by any decent employer who didn't treat their staff like disposable, interchangeable, untrustworthy and idiotic economic units.
  12. Hated nightclubs. Just a place to go that serves drink when the pubs were shut. Always found Edinburgh more civilised in that regard compared to Glasgow - later pub opening times. Fury Murrays, the Cathouse, the Garage. In Helensburgh, Clockworks, Splash (or whatever name they were going by - seemed to change each time there was a stabbing). In Aberdeen, Amadeus. I have a theory too that any nightclub that ends in an 's' is a shytehole.
  13. Anyway to get back on topic. It is my understanding the Scottish Government intends entering the Forth Road Bridge into next year's Turner Prize. Could any government employees confirm this?
  14. Does anybody gie a except fifers? Edinburghers have got their tram, they're alright.
  15. Well done them for saving so much in a couple of years. Understanding parents. Mine charged me rent once I got a job!
  16. Fffukk that. Facing up to the existential pain of being a Scotsman without the crutch of alcohol?? On a more sober note, having a family would probably cure me completely of the desire to sedate. I'm practically TT these days anyway compared to ten years ago, a bottle of beer with dinner every now and then, a coupe of pints with work colleagues roughly once a week. In the last year I've been seriously pished maybe only five or six times
  17. Aye, Cochrane is pretty transparent. Marr on the other hand is here to sell the establishment line to us against our better interests, and is quite successful and respected in doing so. I wonder now how smooth and seamless Marr's championing of Blair will switch to championing Cameron.
  18. Cannae see any NATO country doing anything to help the Kurds so long as Turkey is involved.
  19. 18 December. That's 'our' black Friday. Nothing shows you more how the media is geared up to commercial interests than this relentless advertising of an American inspired shopping day.
