  1. Got to agree with Toepoke on this. While it was one of the worst penalty decisions I've ever seen, there's nothing in the rule book about hitting the ground after feeling the slightest bit of contact, but there are probably a few lines about batting the ball directly into the goal with your hand.
  2. "I wouldn't get over-excited about it but I am hopeful" Got a feeling his tournament's over...
  3. And he's on the bench... which suggests the Tierney situation is a heavier injury or something totally unrelated. Maybe Covid?
  4. Obviously this is an idea driven by nothing more than pure greed and to hell with the fan in the street, but in all honesty, I'd have mixed emotions if this goes ahead. One half of me is saying what the vast majority of people are saying - it being the death of football etc, but the other half is of the mind that that already happened a while ago and this is sweet poetic justice for the way the EPL, Uefa et do all they can to squeeze every last penny out of the game and keep the same teams at the top at all costs. They revamp the 'Champions' League so they can milk as many big games as possible, and as soon as those very clubs say that they'll just organise those matches themselves, Uefa are running to the media screaming "Greedy bassas!" TL;DR: Greedy chairmen strike again but GIRFUY Uefa 👍
  5. Can see some foul play happening with this tbh. For example if Portugal win the Nations league A, it'd be in their interest to finish anywhere but first in their qualifying group. They will take the Nations league qualification spot and ensure no other 'A' team has a back up option if they slip up, meaning a bigger chance of one less 'A' team in the finals and a much easier ride for the teams in their group. I was skeptical about the NL at first, but after watching the drama of England v Croatia & Switzerland v Belgium, I think it has real potential. If it were up to me though, I'd get the NL finals out of the way as early as possible and then form a 'qualifiers' qualifying group from the winners, with the final league positions determining which pot the teams would be in at the finals and no second chances for the other 'big' teams.
  6. Bravo looks twice as good with his feet (apart from the bit where he went through Rooney) but looks twice as shaky as Hart ever did. Based on his performance today City would be as well playing Kompany as the sweeper keeper. What odds on an early loan recall?
  7. This. The software is fantastic, but I don't see much benefit in buying extra hardware to run it. Download the Yatse app to your smartphone and you have a fully customisable remote that works seamlessly with Kodi. The free version works just fine, but I paid the 3 quid to get streaming functionality to/from my phone to save me missing goals when I'm out of the room
  8. Neuer Chiellini Vidic Godin Sanchez Toure Y Pogba Messi Hazard Ibra Ronaldo This is like a shłte version of ultimate team
  9. You're point would be valid, if only these videos didn't exist. and
  10. When did it become acceptable to give anything less than 100% in a Scotland shirt regardless of the opposition, let alone England? If those professional athletes had a game 4 days ago were tired and couldn't match the fitness levels of the English, then ok, but to suggest that they couldn't be 100% committed for any reason means they shouldn't be wearing the jersey. This optimizes everything wrong with modern football.
  11. Exactly. While England are no great shakes, all but the top teams do setup defensively against them. Those that have the ability (Poland, Slovenia et al) to defend can, and often do frustrate them, but you very rarely see England against the wall for whole matches against these types of teams. In fact it's this problem of breaking teams down that highlights the lack of technical ability the players have - they quite often look ragged and bereft of ideas. After they take the lead, the game opens up and England look a better proposition (even though the dozy media still think they only "wake up" after 60 mins). Don't get me wrong, I think they are - and have been for many many years - far from a top class side, but they are generally consistent with qualification, and when it comes to playing the mid-lower tier teams they will generally get scrappy-looking results.
