  1. We scored 17 goals in qualification which is more than the vast majority of the qualifiers for the finals if you take away the total minows from the 6 team groups. Don't really care if Adams and Dykes don't score many, they are part of a set up that scores enough goals. For what it's worth McBurnie is my 3rd choice.
  2. People get carried away with goal scoring tables in the Daily record. So much more to the modern day striker.
  3. It's meant a hell of lot more competitive matches for us plus a major championship appearance. Not so sure the next one will do us as much good though. Lack of meaningful games over the 20 years before the Nations League helped hold us back.
  4. Think the two goals probably prove that we need three central defender especially with Paterson at right back. Really shouldn't be getting carried away with Shanklands goal, we were parked in their box when he came on.
  5. Fair point about Gordon. However I don't think there are many players on the Celtic and rangers bench that wouldn't start elsewhere and I don't think there are many if any good enough for either of the old firms benchs.
  6. I'd probably agree about McCrorie. Second choice at celtic or rangers is probably a higher standard than any other SPFL keeper. Pretty sure Brown is ahead of Shankland in the pecking order though.
  7. I'd be a hundred times more exited about Gordon than Barns. I might read too much into stats, but according to who scored they rate Gordon as the best player in the Newcastle squad so far this season Barnes is 19th,older and in a position we have players. At 22 Gordon has massive potential.
  8. Proven by the strength of our squad after half dozen players unavailable
  9. That's 5 probable starters out? Good luck to Brown and Shankland though, big chance for them both.
  10. Are we only allowed a 23 man squad for qualifiers?
  11. Seeing as he's had a few mentions in here and being a maybe Scottish player in action, Livermento played on the right hand side of the Newcastle front three in the first half tonight agaist Dortmund. Back to right back now with Trippier moving to the left after Lewis hall wass subbed
  12. Find it more annoying that hearts ate only starting thred
  13. World Cup shoud change to a continental format. Europe for example could share the group stages to a dozen countries with the knockout stages given to one country (the hosts) they would be the only automatic qualifiers with their opening group in their country. Someone please point out the flaws in this.
  14. A quick google suggests he is out until after the next international break. Thank goodness we have already qualified. A slower google suggest he might be back for our games but not available for Norwich until after the international break.
  15. McBurnie can't stay fit for more than 3 games at a time but he would still be the best striker to have coming of the bench. A few more 15 minute appearances without a goal would keep everyone happy. No one seems to be mention the four friendlies before the Euros were Clarke can have a look at a lot of players.
  16. Aye and there's 10s of thousands that haven't played until that age, those three are also amongst the all time great keepers. Having said that, Gordon in the squad is a no brainer if fit.
  17. In the 3 seasons he hasn't got above I goal he started 5,9 and 11 games and 2 of those seasons were in the EPL. No one has said he should start ahead of Dykes or Adams, but if you think he is behind Shankland, Nisbet and Brown you are totally clueless. Jury is still out as regards Stewart.
  18. Go on, name the similarly weak teams McBurnie has played against. Bet you can't.
  19. Something Sheffield United did all season when they had their top half finish. No one has ever said that. People do seem to think that Josh Doig is world clas though just because he plays in Serie A.
  20. He's had one bad season in the Championship so hardly hit or miss and he wasn't fully fit for any more than two weeks at a time during his poor season. No idea what Sheffield United are doing to their players but their supporters thought that McBurnie should have been taken of after 20 minutes when it looked like his groin problem had flared up again.
  21. He hasn't scored for Scotland and that in some people's eyes makes Shankland and Nisbet better players. After all l the talk about Adams being a cert to stay in the epl after Southampton got relegated, ill take bets that McBurnie will
  22. Goals for McBurnie and McTominay!
  23. Could call this the no Scottish Players in Action thread today. All injured or not good enough to start. One how did start but was taken off after half an hour was Angus Gunn. Hopefully nothing serious.
