  1. Hi mate. Apologies if this has already been asked, but me and a few mates fly into Frankfurt early on Tues 18th June. Do you need to prebook the ICE trains or can you just turn up & buy a ticket a bit like ScotRail? Easier to prebook obviously but just concerned that if the flight is delayed and we miss the train we have booked, we would need to then rebook another one anyway. Also we are staying on Brusseler Straße near Molkestraße station, area looks ok close to the city centre…? Cheers 🍺
  2. I think you are correct mate. Pretty sure mass events in Moldova are only allowed 50% capacity at present. Very difficult to know how things will be in a month’s time. I was really looking forward to this trip… the chance to potentially book a play-off spot (if all goes well on Tuesday night) gives the game that bit more of an edge also. But it looks like I will struggle to get a ticket for the game and not sure if going into the home end is feasible, so thinking about giving it a miss now.
  3. Booked on the sport options flight from Edinburgh for this game but just read that Chisinau has now been placed into a Red code alert area of Covid restrictions due to high incidence rates: https://www.moldpres.md/en/news/2021/09/28/21007138 Not sure exactly what this means for bars/restaurants/public events capacities and opening hours but some sketchy information here: https://www.moldpres.md/en/news/2021/09/22/21006974 Hopefully not too many problems but difficult to predict what the situation will be like over there In 6 weeks time.
  4. I think this is a great idea and have always believed that all Scotland games be available across the country on normal tv. However, with only 2 and half weeks to go this is likely a bit too soon and even more unlikely. Has there been any communication with the broadcasters already?

  6. New Year Derby 2nd January 2014. Hibs 2-1 Hearts. Attendance 20106.
  7. The 2014 league final? Official attendance was 51k and I'm sure ICT sold approx 8k. Still very impressive that Aberdeen broke the 40k mark but it was a bit short of 50k! Back on topic. Not a huge amount to separate the two. And on their day both teams, and Hibs, can pull similar numbers for a one off game.
  8. I would except us to be allocated and sell out about 30k for this one (same as the Kilmarnock final in 2007). Going to be a very tough match and can't go into the game being complacent. Great chance to get some silverware though. Can't wait.
  9. To argue that smoke grenades don't add to the atmosphere is very debatable. In the area they are set off they do seem to get everyone going, add a bit of colour and improve the visual spectacle. Especially when you see games on the continent in the ultras sections and tifo etc. You only have to youtube some of the games in Sweden which look amazing. Night and day compared to the atmosphere on these shores. The show on the pitch is obviously the most important thing. But fans experience shouldn't be ignored. Football is tribal FFS. Otherwise nobody would shout or sing, and we would all sit there like we were at the cinema. Obviously they aren't for everyone though so having designated areas for the "ultras" or pyro merchants should be the way forward. Then the boring farts who want to sit on their arses the whole game and get annoyed at a Wee bit of smoke for 30secs won't be calling for £1000's worth of fines. Just adds to another long list of things that are deemed too dangerous for the football in this country. Safe standing- too dangerous apparently. Even though it's perfectly fine in Germany etc. (Look forward to seeing how it goes at Celtic Park and if other clubs will follow suit). No drink allowed in the concourse. Even though in England, which has had worse hooligans problems than us, it's completely fine. No swearing- you'll hurt the kids' ears. No smoke grenades- it may cause a mass panic in an outdoor arena and cause multiple respiratory attacks. Even though at much more crowded concerts and festivals like TITP they haven't done so. (Can I also add that I think these smoke grenades use cold burning technology and cause no external flame. So unlike flares they will not cause burns). Other countries in Europe have embraced the whole ultras and tifos thing. Gave them designated areas. Allowed them to let off their smokes grenades, shout and make noise for the whole game. Allow folk to have a beer at the game. Have fan experience in mind. Stadiums are full. The game is thriving. The game is dying in this country. However, all the authorities & police seem to have in mind is to bring in facial recognition equipment to arrest and ban a bunch of young lads for letting of some smoke grenades.
  10. Agree that we need to hold onto the ball better. Doesn't help when you get rockets in the support booing Scott Brown for going backwards when the pass wasn't on. All the good sides don't mind going backwards and starting again as long as they keep hold of the ball. Instead in this country you get the tuts and groans, and the shouts of "get it up the f***ng park!" if you dare to pass the ball back to the defenders.
  11. This is terrible. Showed far too much respect and no urgency from kick off.
  12. The Lion is on our national team badge so do all the posters reacting negatively to this think we should change our "subservient" badge as well?? What a load of p**h! As many flags as possible would look amazing. A sea of saltires and lion Rampants! Fly both flags with pride.
  13. Nice n Sleazy.Pretty sure you can still get a glass of the finest tonic wine if you ask. Wasn't really my cup of tea and Haven't been in years but I used to enjoy the White Russians.
  14. I remember it like it was yesterday. Only 11 at the time. Had our High School visit that day and remember us all sprinting home. Flags out etc. Went over with the family to St.Ettiene for the last game across against Morocco. Just remember thinking "I can't wait until I'm old enough to go following scotland at tournaments myself". Would never have believed that we would miss out on every single tournament since then, and that I would go though my whole teenage years and twenties without getting the chance. Hoping and praying for next year. This has to be our time again.
  15. A no-mark of an event which seems to have been attended by a couple of hundred. No scenes in George Square reminiscent of World War Z. Best to ignore them and move on.
  16. As shown under Craig Levein many times playing for a draw doesn't work. You invite too much pressure from the opposition and 9 times out of 10 they will convert one of their chances. Keeping it tight at the back is obviously a must but even away from home you should always be looking to score goals and get the win.
  17. We never get decent preseason friendlies down in England any more so that would be tasty.
  18. Agree that if we don't win promotion next season then Stubbs position will be untenable. Our lack of cutting edge in the final 3rd was apparent towards the end the season and ultimately cost us our place in the SC Final and Play-Off final. And I still don't know why Cummings wasn't hooked earlier at Ibrox. Same old disappointing end to the season. However, I don't see what a Celtic background has to do with anything. Mowbray took us to our best finish in years and to my most enjoyable years as a Hibs supporter. Then John Collins carried this forward when we won our only silverware in the last 24 years. If we get a good full preseason, keep the core of the team together, strengthen the obvious areas and can find the kind of consistency Hearts had last season then we will be back. In Stubbsy we trust.
  19. The Missus is pregnant so I'm stuck at home for this game. Have a free pass to go out for a "sensible few" and watch the game locally in Glasgow with the boys. Where's normally quite busy and decent to watch the games? I was thinking Tennents Bar or Aragon in West End. But my mate had mentioned Campus. Would quite like somewhere with a bit of atmosphere.
  20. I was pretty young when this game was on but I distinctively remember watching it on tv at home and seeing all the SNP placards in the scottish end. The tv cameras zoomed in on the Scotland fans during the anthem. Great free advertising.
  21. I was over there for Hibs pre-season Tour in 2005 and the Horseshoe Bar next to the ground was absolutely bouncing. Tremendous day and a great sing song with both sets of fans after the game with a live band in the Horseshoe playing a mix of Irish and Scottish Tunes. According to the Cork boys we were the only other team's fans to get into the Turners Cross "Shed". I was back over again to Cork last August for a stag and it's an amazing place. Must be one of my favourite cities. Rearden's Bar/Club seemed like the place to be on the Friday night...and had a pretty decent happy hour iirc. Any scottish lads going via Cork will have a great time.
