  1. I think the crowd would be positive regardless of where it was played - as he'll be wearing GB colours. However, I expect the crowd to be largely against him at the WTF.
  2. Dull, dull draw! Although, the last 16 should be interesting with at least 5 premiership teams ko'd before then.
  3. It has been a great effort this last 6 weeks by Murray to move up to Nr. 6 in the rankings and the level of opponents in the WTF will really give us an idea as to where his form is. I'm not so bothered about any results against Novak or Roger at the moment. Ferrer is still the only player ranked in the top 8 that Murray has defeated this season (although Ferrer has now slipped to number 10). The key matches in the WTF will be any against Wawrinka, Nishikori, Berdych, Raonic and Cilic. Hopefully Murray can avoid being in the same group as Djokovic at the WTF and with big ranking points up for grabs, will be aiming to make up the 420 points between him and a spot in the top 4.
  4. Berdych seals his place in the WTF after progressing to the semis in Paris. Only 2 spots remaining now.
  5. That regional vote would mean the end of the SNP majority (it really was a perfect storm in 2011!) and even if the Greens pick up a few more seats, a YES majority is very unlikely.
  6. It's worth mentioning the recent performances of Federer as he is undoubtedly the form player in the world - he's won the last two masters tournaments, won in Basel last week and if he wins in Paris against an opponent other than Djokovic will regain the world Nr. 1 spot. I've no idea how, at the age of 33, he still maintains that level of consistency and motivation after what he's achieved in his career.
  7. Great performance by Murray against another WTF contender. My main criticism of Miurray over thelast 2 or 3 years ihas been that he doesn't play nearly enough of the smaller tournaments compared to other top players - he prefers training blocks in Miami. Now that he has been forced to play smaller tournaments recently and it appears to have boosted his form, he may rethink this in the future. Also good for Murray in his top 4 goal that Wawrinka lost today. Tomorrow is the first time in over a year that I think Murray has a chance against Djokovic - should be a cracker!
  8. As others have said 71% of 16 and 17 year olds voted yes according to the Ashcroft poll. However, a grand total of 14 people in that age group were polled. 10 voted yes and 4 voted no. Meaningless I think.
  9. Aye. The house of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha may have received a bit of grief for the design post WWII and there's now a wee explanation on site.
  10. First set to Murray in his opening match in Paris and no sign of fatigue. No surprises elsewhere - Berdych, Ferrer and Raonic all through to the last 16, with Nishikori and Dimitrov both playing later.
  11. Swastikas on the war memorial at the gates of Balmoral Castle
  12. That pretty much seals Murray's place in London. For him to fail to qualify now, Ferrer and Raonic would have to compete the final in Paris next week, coupled with an early exit for Andy and with Berdych an Nishikori doing well.
  13. Tremendous tennis match and nothing between the players - well done Andy!
  14. Yes!!! Perfect Time for an ace there, while match point down. Deciding set it is!
  15. After Shenzen, Murray last to Djokovic in Beijing and the n Ferrer in Shanghai, so it would be 3 from 5. However, it's now back on serve in the second set in Valencia...
  16. If Murray wins tomorrow, he'll go above both Berdych and Nishikori into 5th spot in the race.
  17. For me, the deputy leader gas to be based at Holyrood = Brown. If Hosie gave up being an MP and came up the road, I'd vote for him. Can't see the point of Hosie and Robertson both having powerful positions at Westminster, coupled with the re-introduction of the main man. Holyrood is where it should be at!
  18. Good news for Murrays qualification chances. Before I read your post, I was checking out the Paris Masters draw and it couldn't be tougher - Murray sneaks into the top 8 seeds, but if all goes to plan is scheduled to face Dimitrov in the last 16 and Djokovic in the QF - again?!?
  19. Raonic knocked out in Basel, so Murray will finish this week a minimum of 135 points ahead of him. Ferrer cruised the first set of his QF. Hopefully Federer will take care of Dimitrov tonight.
  20. Through to the semis and now only 130 points behind Berdych. Ferrer on court next. Meanwhile in Basel, Raonic is a set up.
  21. Murray steps it up and is now serving for the match.
  22. Lost the first set in the QF. First serve letting him down.
  23. Another comfortable - 6-2 6-4 - win for Murray! Hopefully another contender or two will slip up later in the day.
  24. Never easy watching Murray, but he gains revenge for Shanghai and beats a player ranked in the top right for the first time this year - so no complaints. Berdych beats Dimitrov in Stockholm - not sure if that'll work in Andy's favour or not as although no ground made up on Berdych, Dimitrovslips further behind. Nishikiri has opted to play neither of the 500 tournaments next week, so he's definitely still in the mix.
  25. I reckon social media is already more influential than the written press. However, broadcast media and TV in particular, is infinitely more influential.
