Has anyone seen any 'reliable' evidence re: the deaths of hundreds of workers in Qatar? Only ask as I read this article earlier and two sides to every story comes to mind. I'm always very sceptical of accepting western media's view on things without other evidence and this backs up my thoughts. Who to believe! Not every thing is black and white. http://dohanews.co/qatar-authorities-debunk-media-reports-about-world-cup-deaths/ -
Making A Will

Well we have a mutual understanding car brake wise, as if anything happened to her I get a similar sum to make sure I can bring the kids up okay, with, other than losing their mum, no negative effect in lifestyle. -

Just about to say the same, best Utd home and away kit ever, that season. Love Hibs new top too, like that green and nice to get the sleeves back. -
Making A Will

Just make sure you do it correctly, don't go cheap and get something wrong, as the only time your family will know it's wrong it'll be too late. If you have a family its worth considering life assurance too, as leaving people named to look after your kids with no funds isn't brilliant either. If my wife and I die my sister will look after the kids and will have over £1m in trust to do so. -
The protests in London yesterday were an absolute embarrassment. I'd wager that a 'not irrelevant proportion' of those morons at the protest didn't even vote last week. It just comes across as sour grapes. If Labour had won on Thursday they'd have been no protests from the defeated voters, they'd have just accepted it and moved on. Point is the Tories have been democratically elected and that's the end of it. Now if you want electoral reform well that's fine, but the rules to this election were well known in advance. Also if PR was used as the electoral format, who's to say that the votes would have been cast in the same way. Perhaps UKIP wouldn't have got so many votes, perhaps they'd have got more, we just don't know. As others have said if people want change do it the SNP way, get politically engaged and change the future, in the positive way it should be done. Not in a confrontational manner such as yesterday. Like I say, embarrassing.

That is a forecast from Yougov, not an exit poll! -

Miliband ruled out a 'coalition' or a 'deal'. Roll on next week when he'll come to an 'arrangement' with just about anyone to get into no.10. -
Fatherhood
Swindon Rob replied to hunchy's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
Or just use room temperature water, much easier and neither of my two ever grumbled about it. Never read anything about the milk having to be warm, think it's a parents invention to make their lives harder/more stressy. -

Seconded, the amount of negative sh1t really effed me off in the end. Which is how I got to the ignore all advice mentality. Think on the bright side and go for it! -

My advice is don't listen to people's advice. You'll be fine making your own way through, listen to your own instinct. Too many parents offer their words of wisdom only for you to find out they didn't have a clue in the first place. That said I hope you enjoy every moment of it, being a parent is the greatest gift going, and that includes the 3 o clock in the morning cuddles when it's just you and your little son/daughter. Special times. All the best! -
Jim Murphy (Again!)
Swindon Rob replied to Maq's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
What's so shocking about that clip is the female Scottish Labour supporter who appears to be labelling the Von Trapp children as Nazi's. When we all know they were anything but Nazi's, hence the reason the went to all that trouble of escaping Austria to Switzerland. Now I'm sure Jim Murphy and Kezia Dugdale would point out that Liesl had strong connections with a nazi party member, Rolfe, and that goes some way to show she had sympathies with Hitler's final solution, but at that time Liesl wasn't aware that Rolfe was a firm follower of Hitler, she just wanted a quick play with his frankfurter. I think that lady needs to get down to blockbuster, or maybe just get online, and watch The Sound of Music in full, before she taints the good name of the Von Trapps anymore. Disgraceful behaviour. Oops that was meant to be a quote containing the 'riot' from earlier today (euan2020's clip). -

Good luck Arsenal, good luck Villa. -
Brilliant song, love it when my iPad picks it out on random, something dark but true about the song. Still waited for us to 'prove them wrong' it'll happen soon enough.

Ha ha brilliant comeback! I was down at Lambourn open day last week, those horses are treated like the superstars they are. Glad to hear Balthazar King is okay, was genuinely concerned for a while there, love that horse.

Question Time Tonight
Swindon Rob replied to exile's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
But his fundamental point was that there are many levels to 'tax avoidance' mitigation, planning whatever you want to call it. Trust planning to avoid the paying of certain taxes has been around for centuries and is widely available to all. Which is why inheritance tax has been called a voluntary tax for years. -
Question Time Tonight
Swindon Rob replied to exile's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
Think he's spoke a lot of sense tonight. Including the ISA point which completely baffled the Caroline Lucas, she didn't have a clue. The non-Dom point is a red herring and he was spot on with that too. Won't be popular here but the telegraph blokes been good so far. -
25% of the fund value can be taken as tax free cash, with the rest taxed at emergency rate, if taken as a one off. This means any taxed lump sum of over around £3k will initially be taxed at 40%, with anything over around 13k @ 45%. You will get that tax back from the revenue, but worth bearing in mind if you have plans in short term with the money.

I'd love to have the opportunity to get up to Hampden and boo the hell out of gstq. One to wind up the opposition, and two because I can't stand the monarchy. As the offspring of a scottish dad and english mother, I don't see why I should be told by others not to boo a ridiculously sh1te song that is supposed to represent me in some way.

Wales
Swindon Rob replied to wembley67lisbon's topic in Football related - Discussion of non TA football
This qualifying campaign is so annoying. Take a look at every other group and 3rd place is on the cards, look at ours and 4 into 3 doesn't ho. Wales' group is so average, but fair play to them they're doing what they need to, so far. Also see Netherlands are lurking in a 3rd spot currently, not again. -

Our Pathetic Rugby Team
Swindon Rob replied to Doric's topic in Anything Goes - Other topics not covered elsewhere
Have to say I haven't noticed much improvement under this new bloke. I think there's a world of difference in narrowly winning and narrowly losing in rugby and we prove it. Too many pathetic school boy errors through out this campaign. And the second halves of the England and Ireland matches are 80 minutes of the poorest I've seen from a Scotland side for ages. That said through pure stupidity I think we might turn things around for the RWC, next years 6 nations are a write off already due to the way the fixtures fall I think.
