The question of fear isn’t the one to answer, we shouldn’t, we can’t fear anyone. Obviously you have to show a certain amount of respect to quality teams and players. But no gain in fearing anyone. Unfortunately they have guys who play for Bayern and Real Madrid for a reason so there’s only so much we can do but we can do better than what I seen based on the highlights.

Yeah I understand all of that. As you say, the squad itself won’t be damaged when a player is called up provided he’s doing the right things.

Didn’t see the game but unfortunately but sounds like we were beat within ourselves better a ball was kicked or maybe we’ve just had an off night. Maybe a bit of a reality check for some of us getting carried away, unfortunately we’re a level or 2 below England but shouldn’t stop us putting in a better showing by the sounds of it.

Timing on his part as well, his age and lack of opportunities with England and we’re definitely a more attractive option as well the now. I agree about Morrison, his commitment was never questioned. Someone like Clarke will weed out chances pretty quickly, regardless of their eligibility.

That’s my take on it, that something has been said behind the scenes, but who knows. I like what Clarke said, he likes the player and wants him involved, I suspect he’ll be called up again next time around so we’ll see what happens then.

I think it was in the second set, a point Medvedev eventually one but one of the commentators said, against almost any other player in history he’d have won that point a lot easier and sooner but Djokovic’s defensive play is so good it was a much harder point to win. He’s the best I’ve seen, as a casual tennis viewer.

All I’m saying is I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in an England squad in the near future. Maybe he was genuinely injured. Find out soon enough.

Didn’t James Morrison say he didn’t feel very Scottish or something similar and he went on to be one of our most committed players during some times when others weren’t. I think it still cheapens international football a bit though, especially considering these guys are coming from our longest historic rival but I understand why Clarke or any manager is taking advantage of the rules.

Not far fetched that someone’s had a word in his ear about England being interested and he’s pulled out.

One could argue, Scottish players don’t play for England, friendly or not. I mean it is what it is, I don’t Barnes is any less Scottish than Anderson. The rules are the rules, Clarke, like every manager before and after him will pick this best available players.

These guys are professionals and in the whole give it everything and that’s all you can ask. Time to focus doing the business in Cyprus and securing qualification.

Aren’t his parents English and he qualifies via a grandparent? I’m not that bothered either way, them the rules etc and as long as gives it his all. In saying that I do find it a bit weird someone wants to play for us despite growing up in England to English parents but then I’m not a professional footballer and looking at through the lens of a fan. Maybe he’s always supported us but then why play for England?
