For some reason I just couldn't into it the same I did GOT, the sopranos or band of brothers

ditto ; aside from Band of brothers - as got a loan of boxed DVD set

    - same with breaking bad ; tried a few times - although really enjoyed Better call Saul

= just finished watching "Ripley" ; very good i thought - main actor ; Irish bloke outstanding

GoT - watched season 1 a couple years back - another boxed set - as Ian McShane said "tits & dragons ...."

Watched 3 episodes (of 7) of Baby Reindeer on Netflix last night.  It's based on the true story of a Scottish comedian who was stalked by a woman down in London.  The guy it's based on plays the lead role as a version of himself and it's been  brilliant if very uncomfortable in places so far.  The actress the plays the stalker is unbelievably good in it.  Everything I've read has said episode 4 is one of the most uncomfortable episodes of any TV show in years so looking forward to that at lunch time!

*Alexa, show me an example of someone not reading the post above.....🙄

just binge watched all 7 episodes - bizarre , dark and amazing

feels a bit like trainspotting in parts too

Looking forward to the Clyde v Aberdeen game tonight, big noisy crowd and also some Aberdeen fans 😄 our form has certainly improved since Ian McCall took charge and certainly don't expect us to be bottom of the pile come May.

Aberdeen should win quite comfortably, can't see them having a repeat of the Darvel game.

This is a free hit for us tonight, league games & our survival way more important

    image.png.021b3fe207a76995d4f5adb74ccd80e2.png

an old picture of our last Scottish cup fixture (1984 IIRC) check the crowd packed inside Shawfield, im in there somewhere a young 18 year old  - that Aberdeen time where a bit tasty (think that was Jim Leighton in goals for Aberdeen)

I remember the game ; but wasnt at it - 2-0 win for Dons - for some reason i recall there was only 2000 or so at the game ? But that photo doesn’t suggest that

i think the willie garner reference may of been another / earlier game tho as i honestly dont recall him featuring at that stage - season we beat celtic 2-1 in final i believe

on the stadium thing ; is tenuous link to clyde / qpr / wimbledon and thames afc ( bizarrely played in a 120k stadium but had one of the lowest ever league attendances )

Jings ; that slipped past me - i was still referring to the 1980 version  =thought i was up to speed on all things ww2 ..... but if its not 'hollywood' out here , tougher to track down

i keep asking folk here " have you seen babylon berlin ?" and met with vacant look ( i know its pre ww2)

ah its got subtitles ,,,,, never watching that , typical reply

They already have with the Das Boot TV series

I grew to love The Pacific once i stopped comparing it to Band of Brothers

I think that was the point of it - that the War in the Pacific was a different beast to the War in Europe and there was less time spent on character development basically because of the casualty rates

Enjoyed Claire Van Der Boom in the nudey as well

das boot a film ? or a series ..... ?? i understand there was different endings

yeah maybe unfair on the pacific ; in that i was def comparing it

i had to google the actress name ; but pretty much confirmed it was the melbourne episode / greek parents

book by Sledge is supposed to be amazing

i liked The Thin Red Line film too ; some of his other films are very heavy going  - Malik ? , but think because of subject matter its bearable

  6. lost my netflix account - saw jumped onto Disney

watched Hill St Blues Ep 1 ; then NYPD Blue Ep 1 - only 10 years-ish apart , but felt like a lifetime , at the time

both great at the time ; and enjoyed them both again  - i knew it was same writers , but strange/lazy ? that both opening episodes have

a/ main character(s) being shot (badly) & surviving

b/ main character - ex wife , separation papers , complaining to husband etc etc

c/ main character (from b) ; love interest with another main cast member ; whilst dealing with ex ....

I've finished MOA now. Conclusion is it's not close to the Pacific or BOB.

It was poorly made, alot more could've been made of certain story lines like the escapes with the help of the French resistance. They makers have tried to cram too much into 9 episodes.

The episode about the tuskegee airmen wasn't necessary when this was a series about the big 8th

US airmen completed "tour" after 50 missions i recall ?

RAF just kept going til war ended , or they never made it back

i thought even the Pacific was a step down from BoB at the time

    - wonder if they'll ever do a Naval version ; Das Boot Re Boot

Something the residents of Murrayfield and surrounding areas can look forward to this summer, what are Edinburgh council thinking of 😆

    https://scottishrugby.org/rangers-and-manchester-united-to-face-off-at-scottish-gas-murrayfield/

am bit out of touch these days tbh

    - but as its a summer 'friendly' and the fact that a large majority of your supporters at these events ; will be of the 'plastic / day tripper ' variety ; added to the fact that (based on my own match attending even in 70s and 80s) that 1969 game was likely attended by 95-99 % blokes - majority of those being in drinking/swadging age group/demographic ; am sure will still be bit of bother tho ; but nothing like Fairs Cup or Uefa in Manchester

Don't be daft man, thats never going to happen.

However, your performance at Dens last night was as bad as Ive seen Aberdeen. Dundee were pretty damn poor, but you never looked like scoring. We only scored because of a ludicrous penalty though.

It was a bawhair in 95 tho ; at least then we had some very decent players in the team ; who finally got it together- then actually breezed through the play off versus dunfermline

we seem to be on a similar trajectory now though ; but not much faith in players we have

am still baffled by the warnock affair ; did he jump or was he pushed ?

tbh i would take lennon rather than go down … admittedly hes a notch up on scott brown and roy aitken on being disliked ; i was more concerned about his record ; cyprus i think ?

Nah, not buying that one. There must be plenty of that in Rome as well. It means exactly what the banner says, IMO.

I was only closing the loop on the "other connotations" although i believe intent was firmly tongue in cheek (no other connotation in that part either though )

At least hourly direct connection to Koblenz. Both regional and interregional trains. Totally easy.

off at tangent , but late 90s last minute bank hol w/e in london , all was available was BA flight to Cologne (twin prop - passengers facing each other ....) got a boat/cruise down to Koblenz = highlight for me was seeing the 'bridge at remagen ' en route  - then jumped on a train back to Cologne  - stayed in cheapo hotel near the station

= this time booked a hotel in bonn / then for stuttgart = heidleberg  - hope that works out .....

got a 7 day in month eurail pass for me & the loon - reservations thru DB mostly

Last month, UEFA should have sent you an email regarding train deals; individual and passes.

    17th January rings a bell.

Think the individual journeys for match ticket holders are €29

    Don't know about the passes.

thanks for reply mate - i havent been on here in ages = only decided last month to take plunge and book accom - tbh avoided this forum ; as knew i was getting hosed on prices as hadnt booked ahead ; really even planned on going- but mate over here got a bunch of tickets in uefa ballot - few randoms plus our game v Swiss in Cologne ; so am taking my son and meeting some of the  lads too hopefully - so i havent seen any tickets , fan passes etc

we are flying Calgary to Paris (dont ask.....: )    ) then plan to train it to munich, prague, leipzig, bonn (all change for cologne)berlin, heidleberg (fencing and stuggart access...) back to paris  - plan on 7 days in month eurail pass for me and the loon -dont think the fan pass would be good for me as thinks it just germany ....

hes been to couple of games at pittodrie as 3 yr old ; so 18 yrs later be a bit of a culture shock i think

  13. tbh i was kind of surprised we sold out so quickly for the final  ; i know your casual "office bus / xmas party/ stag weekend" type typically doesn't up their interest when either of old firm are playing us in a final ; but i had a sense of the mystical 40k that appeared for the ICT league cup final at Parkhead

am out of touch these days ; was speaking to  few of the lads in Helsinki about it  ; my personal opinion was i glad i chose a frozen dead rubber trip over the forthcoming league cup final v huns ; just cant be arsed with the hassle of it all now - maybe its just me , but since they disconnected the euro qualification from the league cup its go way less value ; and I've seen this movie way too many times ......

Started this due to your recommendation

    It's good, easy watching

Although it's more like Oceans 11 meets Thomas Crown...

the original Thos Crown , or the re-boot .....i thinks Oceans 11 was an old film too

i just finished 'The Crown' new episodes ; prob flogged on here ...... Diana actress very good as was Charles - I've never really liked Imelda Staunton tho but am sure she did a fine job ; Jonathan Pryce pulls of a passable Duke as most actors seemed to do

took my son to see Napoleon last night  - so looking fwd to it - huge bore i thought - ashamed to say i enjoyed the new hunger games recently with my daughter
