  1. I thank you sir for making the effort. 10,000 posts and I've finally manage to produce a wee snigger. I feel very proud tonight.
  2. Some BBC audience selector is getting sacked tomorrow.
  3. Could be worse. Imagine what it would be like if you also thought blue was green.
  4. It should be fairly obvious that "a fair number" is very different to "full of", even to a rabid SNP hater.
  5. A sparky will suss it out in 10 minutes. My money is on a bad earth but the symptoms are similar to a dud battery. A new alternator wont be cheap.
  6. If he isnae then Daphne Broon could be in big trouble with operation Yewtree.
  7. A bad earth connection is a very common problem on older cars but easily fixed. It's a wee bit strange they can't tell you for certain though. It's not a difficult thing to check. Unless they are just guessing, having maybe not had time to actually look at the car yet?
  8. Can I just clarify something. I'm not saying this is what Scottish Tory voters will do. I am saying that the reason for the polls seemingly giving SNP such a big lead is because this is what the UK establishment want them to think about doing. Whether it works or not is a different story. Scottish Tories are in a difficult position. There will be a few seats where they think they have a decent chance of winning. It's easy for them, they vote Tory and hope for the best. But in most seats they need to decide whether it's better to vote SNP to try to help Cameron get a majority or vote Labour to try to stop SNP having any influence at Westminster. I am hoping that most of them will be so confused that they wont bother voting.
  9. I still think this Ashcroft geezer is at it. Opinion polls are designed to influence behaviour, not to measure it. I think SNP will get no more than 15 to 20 seats. Hope I'm wrong. There are probably between 500,000 and a million natural Tory voters in Scotland. These are the folk Ashcroft is hoping will determine how many seats SNP get. In most elections most of these Tories don't bother to vote because they know a Tory wont get in. These polls are designed to scare them into thinking SNP are on a landslide, so that they will get off their erses and try to stop them. They will vote for anybody to try to keep SNP out. This is the gamble Labour took with electing Murphy. Tories wont mind voting for him as he is as right wing as they are. I can see SNP doing well in constituencies where there is a 3 or 4 way split but where it is a straight race between Labour and SNP the Tories will get out do what they can to keep SNP out.
  10. You mean like the guys who operate the stop/go boards at traffic lights? It's a right cushy number but a profession which is very difficult to break your way into. Lollipop man might suit you though?
  11. Ok, there are only 2 of us, but we could go 6 to 8 weeks for the general waste bin, easy. What do you put in "general waste"? As a society we should be getting to stage where almost nothing goes into general waste and everything goes into recycling bins. Mind you, what happens to it after it goes in recycling bins is a different discussion altogether.
  12. If you need your bins emptied every week you are producing too much waste - sort yoursels out.
  13. I don't think they can tackle local government taxation until after we are independent. It would be electoral suicide, IMO.
  14. It's a vote winner though. In general, folk don't want to pay more tax. Politicians, regardless on party, don't care about hypocrisy.
  15. Council tax accounts for about 20 to 25% of local council budgets. One of the problems with increasing council tax to help pay for local services is that they would need to increase council tax by 20% to give an overall increase of 4 to 5% of the total council budget.
