  1. If we play like we played v Spain then no. We should NEVER give ANY team "respect" on our home turf. Get stuck intae them and fight for every inch of grass. In this game we really ARE playing for the jersey.
  2. This is true and I will too because I support the team and the jersey but it doesn't take away the principle of the thing or anyone's right to their opinion on it. In 1872 the Scotland team was specifically organised by Queens Park FC members and set up to be OUR national team, there had been a number of "unofficial" international matches in London where the Scotland team was made up of players, many of whom had VERY tenuous "eligibilities", one of the games actually only had 1 player born in Scotland (hence why they will never be recognised as international matches)! These games were local (London) games and not national, QPFC decided to build an actual national team, a Scotland national team. This eligibility question raged on well into the 60s and on, the "Anglos", fowk that even PLAYED outwith Scotland were frowned upon!
  3. If he's born in England to 2 English parents then he's not Scottish is he!? eligible he might be but not Scottish. Nationality isn't a costume you can put on when you think it suits you.
  4. I want to know where the celtic bid was? England should not be anywhere near hosting anything after their hooligans disgraced them at the Euro Final at Wembley, if anything they should be banned!!! I'm still completely against this proposal, I think it's ridiculous and second rate, we will get nothing whatsoever out of it.
  5. I don't do re-issues or "fake" jerseys, but my collection goes back to my first jersey from 1978, I love the 150th jersey, the 96 home jersey, 98 home jersey, quite like the current home jersey... I just love Scotland jerseys!
  6. I was commenting on the situation as a whole, if we weren't getting fisted left right and centre by the Govt in England I wouldn't mind reasonable measures to address important issues, thing is it's constant and it's spiteful. I fuckin hate the "UK" in it's current state, it's gash and unless we get independence it ain't going to get ANY better.
  7. Nope, very reasonable post, I agree with some/much of what you say, was just really the racism thing that annoyed me. I want England to get fucked in every single possible sporting/competitive discipline imaginable against everyone and ANYONE, that's rivalry not racism, so not wanting someone to decide to play for Scotland because 1) they're not good enough for their own country and 2) because they once saw a photo of a haggis applies equally IMO. If it were my club team I wouldn't give a flying fuck, in fact I'd absolutely be all over it but this is our national team, it's the ultimate honour to be asked to play for it, I don't accept it being second choice to anyone BUT that's a supporters view and I totally accept it's a different kettle of fish for an athlete/footballer, doesn't alter how I feel about it tho. As you say, we all know someone who is exiled or like one of my best pals, Cambridge born and bred but through a Scottish Gran supports Scotland. We're aw "us" eh? well some of us are...
  8. I think it's ridiculous and an attack on drivers, especially those that can't afford newer compliant cars. Yet again the answer in the "UK" is always take take take, tax more, charge people , just punish fowk. They're targeting the wrong people at the wrong time. What else we going to start getting charged for? breathing? FUCK the "UK", this place is utter SHITE.
  9. What if you're eligible but not actually Scottish?
  10. If you were eligible to play for both but weren't considered good enough to play for Scotland would you opt to play for England? I sure as fuck wouldn't.
  11. Suggesting someone is racist for not wanting an English player playing for the national side is plain stupid. We are completely entitled not to agree with the eligibilty rules and to express an opinion on it. There's nothing we can do about it and the manager will use the rules to our sporting advantage, it's his job, but to be proud and protective of the national side is not some kind of ethnic racism, it's our national team and we support it because it belongs to us. As I said in a previous post once all the dust settles and we've stopped moaning he'll get all the support the rest of the team gets but there is a point of principle here and we have a right to express it.
  12. Suggesting that someone is racist for not wanting an English player playing for the Scotland national team is moronic, have a word with yourself. If that's what you think then do you think international football should be banned for racism?
  13. There are obvious variables with regards to how people view the national side. For me the national team is very much a part of my identity and I am fiercely proud and protective of it, it's very personal, it's part of me. For others it's just a football team they support and want to win at all costs, don't care as long as they're eligible etc etc. Whilst I understand the eligibility rules doesn't mean I like them, and I certainly don't (especially when you have independent association status you really need to be careful with) but also you have to take into consideration that this is part of the player's career and that comes with much different considerations to the one's we have. I don't like it when a player "chooses" to play for Scotland, that jersey is sacred to me, to us, and I don't like to think that it's a second choice for anyone. If it is I'd much rather they didn't "choose" to make themselves available for us, if you're no good enough to play for your own country then... but then there's sod all we can do about it, the manager's always going to use the rules to our sporting advantage as that's his job and tbh, I can't imagine many of us booing any player who gives their all. One thing is for sure, we're in the majority a friendly bunch and once all the dust settles and we've stopped moaning about him being English I think the fella's in for a very eye opening welcome, pretty soon he's going to be coming over all Scottish and (unless he's an arsehole) once he's got used to us he's going to love every minute!
  14. Agreed, I'd say an hour, or even 2 given there's always a pub on the way...
  15. So wanting Scots to play for the Scotland national team is racist against other nationalities now is it?
  16. Great! why don't we just call ourselves "England B"
  17. 🤬🤬🤬
  18. Not interested in given them ANYTHING at our expense. Not a chance, THIS is why I don't want us anywhere near this bid, we'll just get shat on as we do already by all things "Greater England" does.
  19. Going to have to report this post for being far too informative, reasoned and well written. Think yer in the wrong forum fella! Seriously, really interesting, thanks, not looked at it from that angle (obviously) and it's easy to jump to conclusions especially if you are a conclusionist like myself lol. Excellent input fella cheers!
  20. Couldn't agree more. It's all about fkin money.
  21. Spot on, which is why I'm keeping things calm...
  22. It's VERY possible. What a night THAT would be 😂
