wanderer
Few years since this raised its head. Don and Bob have up until now kept their promise about stopping people abusing the name "tartan army" but TFTAM has not been around since 2010ish, so £300k does seem very excessive
aaid
I imagine there's probably a bit more to this than meets the eye.
thplinth
These two guys are a pair of chancing kunts who should be told to get to on every level. The fact they were awarded a trademark in the first place was a disgrace suspiciously so.

The fact they were awarded a trademark in the first place was a disgrace suspiciously so. They were not awarded it, they bought it off the guy who originally had the TM and had a habit of being very protective of it, while Don and Bob at least kept the TM out the hands of someone who would like to rip the a*se out of being able to cash in on the name. Oh yeah I had forgot the whole boring story. Whatever. This is something that should never have been allowed to be trademarked. "They bought it to protect it." Oooooooh reeeeeally. aaid
Adie was going to sell the trademark to the Sun before Don and Bob Shields bought it.

Ormond
If Bob and Don were truly concerned about the name being for every man, woman and child who wants to follow Scotland they could give the 300 grand back to the fans someway. Or donate it to TASA or something.
wanderer
and now their trying tae rip the arse oot of somebody and as it says in the article they used to advertise in the magazine As I said, up until now they have been alright. Given its been years since TFTAM was circulating, this looks like something that has been brewing behind the scenes for a few years.

Hampden Diehard
I have absolutely no problem with anyone making a few bob from selling Tartan Army merchandise, but to prevent anyone else from doing so is pish. It's a disgrace that the Adies were given a trademark and worse that they made a stash from selling it. Hopefully the two carpetbaggers taking the magazine to court get their erses felt. Maybe once the court case is over HD you will learn the truth about this whole affair and you will see why Don & Bob have taken FTAM to court. Hampden Diehard
Enough of the wee teasers about "the truth"! Give us the gen or at least some juicy lies.
PaulS2014
So technically does that mean this board shouldn't be allowed to be called "Tartan Army" message board without permission?
