Fairbairn
Can anyone recommend a pub in central Edinburgh that's near a bookies and shows the racing on a Saturday? I couldn't say for certain but I'd imagine Scotts at the bottom end of Rose Street would show the racing if you asked them. There's a Ladbrokes about 2 minutes further up Rose Street from there. There's a Ladbrokes about 2 minutes further up Rose Street from there. That's the problem I know lots of pubs that are near bookies but don't know what ones will definitely show the racing and being a lazy git I don't want to spend time walking up and down to find one. Having said after the last bevvy and bookie Saturday it might be better is we didn't find one.

crossan
I am 99% sure that Mathers at the top of Broughton street show the racing and there is a Ladbrokes next door. Only been in during the week though.
Squirrelhumper
Footlights? It's near pubic triangle too. We normally go there before playing Hibs/Hearts. For the beer obviously. Just a coincidence the lappers are nearby.
crossan
The other Mathers at the west end usually shows the horse racing and there's a bookies next door. The Grosvenor round the corner might also be worth a try.

Might give that a bash but there is a distinct lack of tables to get Racing Post spread out on if I remember correctly.
Scottie27
The globe, bookies on the mile.

dan cake
Platform 5 (opposite Haymarket station) usually put on the racing if you ask, bookies about 50 yards away Best avoided if the saviles are at home tho
Larky Masher
Looks like options are Bailie Bar in Stockbridge, the Phoenix on Broughton Street or Clarks Bar on Dundas Street the last 2 have Racing UK but not sure if they have a bookie nearby. fringo
the Phoenix has a Ladbrokes across the road from it And it's just 100 yds down the road from Mathers which was mentioned by crossan in a post above.

Dalgety Bay TA
the Phoenix has a Ladbrokes across the road from it You sure? The only Ladbrokes on Broughton St is the one next to Mathers is it not? Phoenix has Crombies butchers and that wee cafe/restaurant across the road from it. Unless there is one off one of the wee side streets next to it. Larky, you definitely need the bookies bit? Not just do betting on your phone? Not just do betting on your phone? It's not the same on the phone and it's difficult as there will be a few of us and it's bets from kitty, a wee walk to the bookie will give a break from the drinking anyway. Rossy
Are there any pubs that show live racing these days, as opposed to having Sky Sports on ?
Larky Masher
Are there any pubs that show live racing these days, as opposed to having Sky Sports on ? That why I used the Racing UK pub finder, if a pub has got Racing UK it'll be on as the pub got it for the punters that go there.
jockodile
You should move to NSW. Bookies, well equiv of the Tote, are in pretty much every pub, you can drink and bet simultaneously.
Fairbairn
Are there any pubs that show live racing these days, as opposed to having Sky Sports on ? Quite a few in Partick do. They'll usually have the racing on at least one telly and Sky Sports on the others but they'll have it on.
