Johnston and Gilmour are the stand outs for me - Johnston needs to be playing somewhere next season if not at Celtic.

Johnston looks fast and has great dribbling skills, hopefully he gets some games this season, no reason why he can't get game time against lower spl sides that Celtic expect to beat easily.

That’s not how Rodgers does it though.

He plays a full team vs Brechin City then moans about too many games and fatigue!

Calvin Miller is another excellent young player who needs a loan or to leave.

If the game had lasted another 15 minutes we’d have won. Gilmour, Johnston, Hornby and Burke did make a big difference. Johnston has McGeady-like skill but with real pace to boot - needs to get the heid up a bit though.

Fuck knows why we left our best players on the bench.

Billy Gilmour was voted player of the tournament not bad for a 16 year old! and mikey johnston was voted third.

proves we do have talent, fingers crossed thies two can make the jump to first team level in the next few years.

Gilmour wasn't voted player for the tournament. He was the revelation of the tournament which I think means the best player that nobody knew of two weeks ago.

The big shock with the awards is that we didn't get "goal of the tournament". Infact it was one of England's goals against us that won it. Bizarre choice.

Billy Gilmour was voted 'revelation of the tournament'. I think that's different from player of the tournament.

It was the Mexican midfielder, forget his name, who got POTT.

Great accolade for Gilmour though.

Calvin Miller is dreadful, quite how he's managed to get even on the fringes of the Celtic first team squad is remarkable.

He was MOM v Killie on one of his most recent starts, admittedly was several months ago.

How is he dreadful!?

Dreadful is maybe a touch harsh, but he's not very good. He'd be as well angling for a permanent move away as I really don't see any long term future for him at Celtic.

Like Ralston he'll never make it at Celtic.

I'd not even have him at Killie as Greg Taylor is far better at left back.

Actually really happy watching some of our younger players, and how comfortable on the ball they are.
Are we're starting to see some of what the SFA put in place under Levein?

In 3-4 years, if all goes to plan then the idea of a midfield with Gilmour, Gauld, McTominay, Michael Johnston, and Oli Burke would be a joy to watch. Pie in the sky stuff right now and plenty of time for things to go wrong, but to have players that comfortable with the ball would be lovely.

Of course, people like Fraser,  Morgan, Armstrong and McGregor etc aren't going anywhere in that time, so is likely to be our strongest area of the pitch for a long time to come. Defense is improving, and there's even some young strikers who might come thru in the next few years (McBurnie, Hardie, Hornby, Shaw).

Feeling like the futures bright, even tho I'm not enamoured with McLeish's current custodianship.
