From what you remember seeing personally. Take the club you follow and list a team that were the best players in their positions. For me....

Alan Main, John McQuillan, Sergei Baltacha, Alan Kernaghan, Callum Davidson, John O’ Neil, Nick Dasovic, Allan Preston, Allan Moore, Paul Wright, George O’ Boyle.

Subs- Billy Dodds, Stevie Maskrey, John Inglis,

Forster

Agathe...Mjallby...Van Djik...Tierney

Nakamara...Brown...Lambert...Moravcik

Larsson...Griffiths

I'm sure I'll change this once someone points out some players I've forgot. Sutton is a tough one to leave out because he was so good with Larsson but I do like Griffiths. Thompson is also unlucky to miss out.

Hartley would’ve made my team if John O’ Neil never. Some player Stark transformed Hartley into at Saints. If it wasn’t for Stark doing that at us then Hearts and Scotland wouldn’t have felt the benefit.

Cuellar? He was the second best centre half you have seen?

I support Reading, so this may be a load of names no-one's ever heard of. The first XI is essentially the side we had between 2005 and 2007, with a couple of changes. Based on their peaks at the club.

Hahnemann; Murty, Ingimarsson, Carrico, Shorey; Little, Sidwell, Sigurdsson, Convey; Doyle, Kitson

Subs: Federici, Sonko, Harper, McCleary, Kebe, Lita, Long.

Squad: Irvine, McCann, Anderson, Falconer

What a fucking player Nemsadze was. I was jealous of him. Then I went to a party on the Cleppy Rd with him and Wilkie and although they were total dicks, I was still jealous that Saints never had a Nemsadze.

Given that the last time I saw Huddersfield as a top-flight team was in 1972, you'd have to say objectively the current first XI is the best, so I've gone for players that were massive for us in the team they were in:

GK: Nico Vaesen

CB: Peter Clarke & Christopher Schindler
RB: Malcolm Brown
LB: Tom Cowan

Midfield: Aaron Mooy, Mick Kennedy, Dean Gorre & Chris Marsden

F: Frank Worthington & Steve Kindon

Subs: Andy Rankin (GK), Frank Sinclair & Efe Sodje (D), Ben Thornley, Dave Cowling (M) Jordan Rhodes & Marcus Stewart(F)

Leighton

Kennedy McLeish Miller McMaster

Strachan Simpson Bett Weir

Harper Nicholas

Snelders McKimmie Anderson Jess Bell McDougall Black

With apologies to Hewitt Shearer Mason Cooper Rougvie McGhee Irvine Booth Hayes in particular. A number of others worthy of a mention. Only saw Zolton Varga a few times when I was very young so excluded him but by all accounts an unbelievable player who'd make a strong case for the starting 11 for those old enough.

I'm surprised you passed on the opportunity to put Death in goals :-)

I'm only 20, so he's a bit before my time. He'd probably be in a best XI including players you haven't seen play.

Fair enough, that's a reasonable excuse  :)

I saw him play a good few times & he's one of those players that stick in your mind (no doubt in part thanks to his name). He always seemed to have absolute nightmare games at our place in the early 80s (4-1, 6-1, & 3-1 in consecutive seasons). He's credited with a bizarre own goal in the 4-1 (I think) right in front of our supporters...a cross came in with the sun behind it. He seemed to forget he needed 2 hands to catch it & used one hand to shield the sun whilst palming the ball into the back of the net with the other. There's a superb photo of it somewhere but I can't find an online version (you might be pleased to hear!)

(I just looked him up btw on Wikipedia - he died very young from cancer poor bloke).
