Wasn't it police leaks that got him caught. Also the police causing a sacking of another cabinet minister by lying about what the Tory on a bike said to someone, we wouldn't know if he hadn't secretly recorded the police.

Just as another story running underneath this one.

He was only sacked because there was absolutely no other option and he couldn’t possibly not be sacked.  If there was any way to not sack him, she’d have taken it and he’d still be in situ.

Weak and pathetic piss poor leadership and governance.  It’s one rule for them and another for the rest of us.

I do believe we accept it meekly as it’s pretty much what we’ve come to expect from this bunch of dirty, disgusting, squalid rats.

They all seem to be going into "blame the police" mode. They just want to discuss how this information became public. Fair enough, that should be investigated, then give the whistle blowers a wee reward;). But this sleazy auld git seems to have been sacked for lying, or more precisely, getting caught lying. HELLO, is the point not being missed here. This guy had porn on his work computer. Surely that should be a sackable offence in itself. In my workplace that would be serious misconduct and pretty much instant dismissal - after an investigation of course. Has anybody asked  himwhy he had porn on his work computer. Is it not a dismissal offence in his workplace? If not then why not?

This whole thing seems very strange to me. As phart says, there is more to this than we are being told about.

Totally agree. And who exactly has Porno Green been misleading?  His employers? In which case shouldn't he be sacked as a MP? The police? In which case shouldn't he be being brought to court?

I fail to see why this is such a big deal.  The guy watched some smut on his work computer 9 years ago?  Big whoopee.

Its not so much about whether or not he watched some porn nine years ago but more that he lied about it.

If he'd said something like "this was all investigated at the time, nothing was found and this ex-policeman has a personal grudge against me" then it would have been embarrassing for him but he would probably have been able to ride it out.

But he chose to lie by saying that he wasn't made aware that porn was found - and he got caught out for that - and that was what pretty much made his position untenable.   From that point on he would always be subject to accusations about "well you lied about that, how do we know you're telling the truth now".

I'd add that its also the sheer brass neck of Porno Green.  We know that if you misuse IT at work you're in serious trouble, we've also probably signed something saying that we won't misuse it, seems to be one rule for our 'betters' and one rule for the rest of us and that drags all politicians into the mire.  Also iirc it was some pretty serious stuff that he was alleged to have been watching that was reportedly made illegal a matter of weeks afterwards.
